I love this song so much, every time I sing along shouting my lungs out feeling every word like a stab to the heart. I'm over in the lake and I swam to the bottom And I found me a seat on a rock down there And just when I thought I could hear the end Says I had to come up for air, boy Said I had to come up for air
+David Mc Cartney When he was young his parents got him piano lessons but he wanted to play the guitar. His mother, a musician had a guitar but she was right handed. She let him use her guitar but of course he wasn't allowed to change the strings so he just learned to play it upside down.

And I found me a seat on a rock down there
And just when I thought I could hear the end
Says I had to come up for air, boy
Said I had to come up for air
this just changed my life.

I been trying to follow his playing. Im not sure about this song, but hes playing lefty, strung for a righty, and in open D tuning.
