MOVING ON // LYRICS
A boy of anguish, now he's a man of soul
Traded in his misery for the lonely life of the road
The years were cruel to him
No, he won't let them go
Lays awake tryna' find the man inside to pack his bags and escape this world
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I should have seen this coming
I've never felt so hopeless than I do tonight
I don't wanna do this anymore, I'm moving on
He wanted to change the world, to make it all worthwhile
So he put his pen to paper and poured out everything inside
His red eyes tearing up at the man that he'd became
Slowly, but surely on the fast track to falling into his grave
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I should have seen this coming
I've never felt so hopeless than I do tonight
I don't wanna do this anymore, I'm moving on
I can't believe I've come so far in such short time
And I'm still fighting on my own
If I stop to catch my breath up I might never breathe again, so just know this:
I've never been so torn up in all of my life, I can't believe I let myself break down
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I should have seen this coming
I've never felt so hopeless than I do tonight
I don't wanna do this anymore
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I should have seen this coming
I've never felt so hopeless than I do tonight
No, I don't wanna do this anymore, I'm moving on
A boy of anguish now, he's a man of soul
Traded in his misery for the lonely life of the road

Yaaaaaa booiiiiii
Just came across this. Makes you see something and walk away from what you've held onto for so long
I love how metal bands slow down like this once in awhile to show the world they aren't just a bunch of noise. it helps bring a bigger fan base. smart move
Well I agree, but when you start doing it constantly, you become a pop group...
@@Mi_Ke27 Yeah but c'mon. It's not fair to expect the 'heavier' rock singers to continue 'screaming' to the point they're voices are destroyed. This type of song for example will never be 'pop' imo.
Also not saying you're the kind of person who expects them to carry on no matter what :)
Harder bands have been doing this for decades. I remember it was a huge thing when like Poison hit us with "Every Rose Has Its Thorn."
He did this song before he left the band
so true, theres a thousand examples so no point listing a load but its one of my fav things when bands do this. most dont realise just how good the guys and girls of rock voices actually are, far better than the processed crap of pop who cant sing live. i mean the outright quality of the vocal from david draiman in the sound of silence live, Amy Lee live or Tommy Vext live, they smash it and its not forced, just natural ability with amazing range. metal ballads are the best!
Who’s still here in 2023? Make sure you catch us on tour with A Skylit Drive!
Очень обидно, когда на русском языке пишут комментарии, и их игнорируют....., Песня - Супер!!!

Mee too
Im from 2025
yeeeahhhhh !!! we need jag !!!
A message to the future generations... don't let this masterpiece song die.
I second that !
Third. I've been a metalhead for 12 years. Listening to AA since Stand Up And Scream
It's all fun and games...until it's not fun anymore.....I admire Danny's transformation and honesty through his interviews and lyrics. Never caved because of what some few people bitched about online. He seems so healthy and like he is finally himself. The fact he makes ANY music after what he's been through is great and it's a bonus that it is still amazing 11 years later. Dennis was a "different" phase, but Danny and AA go together like peanut butter and jam. Long live AA.
Fuck yeah
Never 🤘🏻
This is one of my favorite songs by Asking.
My son introduced me to the band before the release of this album.
A year later, we would promote Asking and get to see them live.
Damn good show, from start to finish.
My son, my best friend, lost his life on October 12, 2023, just four days before his 30th birthday, October 16, 2023.
I listen to this song, and it helps, but it hurts so much, knowing that I will no longer be able to share important moments in life with the one person I have shared so much with over the last 30 years.
To everyone. Let those in your life know how much they mean to you.
I just cried. Rest in peace sweet boy. I'm so sorry for your loss, my kindred friend. ❤
😢🖤Sorry for your painful loss. R.I.P🙏🕯
Sad lines.
My condolences. It might also be good to use this song to mourn. I have that too, but I rarely listen to that particular song anymore. The pain is now easier to bear. I lost my husband in April 2022. He was just under 57 years old.
Greetings from Germany and continued strength in dealing with your grief.
Be strong my friend!

Is anyone else still enjoying this amazing song in 2024?? ❤
This song is one of those songs that just stays in your memory, forever.
*Real music*
😎🤘
Any other songs you can think of that capture this feeling? I've been trying to compile a playlist, but it's hard to stay focused on the feel and mood I'm aiming for. Doesn't have to be this band.
@@JerKur18 I’m not sure if you are into Blackened death core (not sure if Lorna is that but that’s as close as I’d think they are) but Lorna Shore has become one of my favorite bands, they have a new album coming out in a month. But their latest song is called Pain Remains I: Dancing Like Flames, it’s so good. I’m a huge black metal and deathcore fan and I’m in love with them!
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🇧🇷
Word bro. Not that shitty band Maneskin. How ta fuck those plastic puppets becomes BIG....
The hardest part of moving on is facing the end alone.
Your comment hit me in the soul. Living it right now. Keep strong.
Fell ya man, single dad of 2. This is not how i pictured it going but all u can do is keep going.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE !
@@nexis8406 right there with ya man. Single dad of 2. Keep your head up
you are not alone now!
How ironic, just a year or two ago I was filled with anger and couldn't stand this album. Now, after leaving my job and ridding myself of Alcohol and Stress, I find myself here
That’s so awesome. Happy for you 💪🖤
Good job man :) Wish the best of luck to you !
Going on 2 months sober, never felt better, about to have a baby boy in 2 days, starting my nursing career, never been more blessed in my life🤘🤘
Good job 👊👊👊
Hey welcome aboard the depression plane
Feels like the right place to go after hearing the news. Thank you Ben for the timeless memories and phenomenal music that was a huge part of my life. I'll miss you in Asking Alexandria.
Ben left? What the hell
@maxoping again? 😂 I remember the first time he left AA because he thought he was too good lol then no one listened to his new band lol
That was Danny, the vocalist, Ben was the guitarist the mastermind of asking alexandria
I am battling stage 3 colon cancer and this song just gets to me not in a bad way. It gives me hope and it goes with the way I feel. Please keep me in your prayers and I pray I'll be moving on from cancer !!!
Hoping the big man upstairs heals you man.
I hope that you will happy and healthy , pray for you❤️
I hope you are healed by now 🙏🏼
@mattwalker5852 dearest brother, I wish you all of the best of health now, and forever and always! 💪🏼💪🏼
almost sounds like a powerful 80's song
Careless Whisper... Check out Seethers version !)
Exactly and that what makes me full in love with it more and more. Following the old heritage 80's
Sounds like Bon Jovi, but quite a bit heavier
+tommy watson that's what I was thinking too
thanks))
2014: i love this song
2018: i love this song
2021: i love this song
2050: this song makes me wanna cross the road without holding my mum's hand.
the fuck does that even mean
With or without looking both ways?
Fuck Yeah
2021: just discovering this song and I’m obsessed
Hell yeahh🤘🏻🇧🇷
-2013: Wow, this song is amazing!
-2024: Wow, this song is amazing!
Still a killer hit, sad part is the older you get the more real this song becomes.
Accept yourself, love yourself, and keep moving forward. If you want to fly, you have to give up what weighs you down.
This song and their last album with Danny showed a potential for truly amazing music.
+Allan Reford i agree
+Allan Reford And then they backpedal to 5 years ago, switch singers, and give the old one the cold shoulder... Shame, really.
Yeah it would have been awesome! I really like this song. Shame
+Allan Reford Spot on mate. This is up there with Avenged Sevenfold's "I Won't See You Tonight (Part 1)" and Atreyu's "The Remembrance Ballad" as a true classic 'Metal Ballad'.
+Sean Thompson maybe you like We Are Harlot too?
Seeing this music video and listening to songs like this remind me that while they're on the road they have nobody but each other and they leave their loved ones for like months at a time.
They probably still fuck loads of girls on tour so no problem
TYFLOL that's assuming that they're all total dicks and cheat on their women (although I think Danny broke up with his gf).
Try years. Most world wide tours are a year.
Same. The part of the papers made me realize. I almost teared up.
TYFLOL Danny has a girlfriend, yo.
Man this song got me through depression years ago. I’m so thankful for Danny and this band 🥹🖤 you guys really kept me motivated to continue on even in the darkest of times..
#Relateable
😊
Same.
Stay strong brother 💪
Me too brother🤙🏻🤙🏻
We're gonna miss you Ben, but we couldn't be happier for you. Thankyou for the last 18 or so years and for the music. We love and respect your decision.
Hell yeah, now we don't have to try to convince ourselves that Dennis is better anymore. The legend is back
I fucking love Dannys voice ! I am so happy that he is back!
Pascal MaggoT agreed

we'll c how long...
Yes 😍

Até hoje escuto essa música bela 🎼🖤🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
I keep coming back to this song. Been playing it on repeat.. the song just hit different with me.. 1 year ago I was in THAT place where I had to pack my bags and run from an abusive relationship.. and completely start over rebuilding my life piece by piece.
Today I'm whole, happy and in a loving relationship. Looking back, this song put into words everything I was going through... and how much I've conquered and learned.
Thank you Asking Alexandria
Happy for you brother
All the best always for you.
@@LuisHenrique-uy3ce thx I need it now :D
Happy for you ✝️
Bless you 🙏
Cant believe this shit came out 5 yrs ago...
Damn time flies

Tell me about it man, I used to listen to Asking when I was 13/14, I turn 21 in a few weeks, time really does fly by
Fuck meeee what? 5 years...madness

I love this, am i the only one who thinks all albums are good? Not only stand up and scream.
i love all their albums so no, you're not the only one who thinks that :)
Rebecca x i am glad about that, these guys still rock and deserve all the attention
i 100% agree with you
I thought that all their albums were amazing
I like their first two, but I'm not fond of this album. This is the only song I've heard off it though (never got around to hearing it), so maybe some other songs on it are a little different..
This song is one of those songs that just stays in your memory, forever.
Asking Alexandria will always have a place in my music library and heart these guys got me through a lot when I was younger and into now

BREAKING NEWS: AA have officially anounced there new lead singer... Zayn Malik
Lmao
JU2TIC3 F0R A11 this comment wins the internet
XD oh God
If he could scream...hermmmm...I dont think it would sound THAT bad.
where you saw that?
-2013: Wow, this song is amazing!
-2024: Wow, this song is amazing!
If you’re reading this right now I hope your life is going amazing! I don’t know you but based off your music taste I can tell we’d be great friends 🖤 much love to you all
I'm in love with this song, first time I heard it. Danny's voice is phenomenal in this, you can hear the emotion in this ish
Who is it then...
+GeeroROTMG the vocalist in this song
+GeeroROTMG damn an old rotmg player listening to this..
+Tobias Brouwers yeah buddy!
+GeeroROTMG Love this song and his voice😍
This is the perfect example that a band can grow up be more mature and still being awesome.
I agree. I think they are better now.
Still here in 2024? This represents my feelings every night 🙂
This is one of those songs that gets ahold of you and doesn't let go. Everything about this song is just beautiful!
i feel like I'm on of the only one who loves this song.
I honestly love it , it's so sad but awesome
Soleil Agresta i know right. They have grown up so much.
This is one of my favourite song by them. its so amazing.
Me too! Hahaha I love them❤️
Nope. I love it too. People are so against how they changed their sound though. Its pisses me off that they expect them to be putting out generic shit like every other metal-core band. Their change is badass! It has an old school rock feel to it!
this is the most metal song from this band
+Moki and CrystalGiant true
+Moki and CrystalGiant The most metal song of deez nutz
+McZachary deez nuts is an entirely different band. (like it really is they've been a thing since like 2006 or somethin like that)
+Moki and CrystalGiant thats funny listen to a prohecy or the final episode(so lets change the chanel)
ghostlyg3mer ha u dont know what metal is apparently
I'm so glad my brother introduced me to these guys, been listening to them for a long time. This has to be one of my favorite songs 🖤
they should do one of those "bring back an old member after a few years for one song" things where they bring danny on stage and play this
+Aiden Macky That would be really awesome but seems that the band is resented with Danny :(
+Aiden Macky sadly, that seems like it'll never happen.
+Aiden Macky and we all cry
+Aiden Macky man he left on a high note with this song i do hope he does come back to do such a thing one day
Danny is the best! What a song!!! What a voice!
+Linkin Simpson's vlogs про карателей видос пили давай
Oh yeah !
skere
thought is was Brian Adams voice.
oh hell no denis is the best
"I don't want to do this anymore. I'm moving on." I have this tattooed♥️
Essa música Moving On e uma obra prima um clássico dessa banda Asking Alexandria
holy shit, their guitar players are using actual frets.
Well done AA, well done.
Lol, i'm new to AA but I totally get what you mean XD are most of their other songs just like: 0-0-0-0-000-000-000-1-1-000-00-0-0-00-0-0 all PM's? XD
Brandon Chambers yep. They never had the most talented guitarists ever you know.
if you think they're not talented guitarists, then go listen their album "under the influence"
Brian Hardy already did. not that impressive.
I hate falling in reverse and design the skyline, but they have far more talented guitarists.
i mean, they're not yngwie malmsteen, but they're good
His voice is breathtaking!
thanks
@@timcook402 why are you saying thanks dumb arse you didn't sing it
your a smart person, thanks so much.....
Couldnt agree more
@@timcook402 , it's you're.
From the moment this song starts playing, you know it is a masterpiece.
Heard this for the first time in like 10 years yesterday. This is in my opinion a modern classic. Between the vocals and the soft splashing and heavy ballad sounding guitar. This is real music. This is bad ass.
maybe it's just me , but every time I watch this video I cry .
+Ruby Rodriguez You're not the only one :(
I cry after the song is done. this is tragic.
+Ruby Rodriguez same
same
+Ruby Rodriguez same me too
Moving on... BACK!
Im so damn glad this fucking emo kid denis left.... Now i can start listening this again.
Django 87 on some real shit
Django 87 you realize that the black was the same style as stand up and scream right?
Restart
)))
heavenly voice... always find my soul lifting everytime i hear you
I wanna be Tour 2024 button 🫵 I heard that one a live and it was AMAZING. ❤️🔥🙏🎸
I remember when this song was released, I used to listen to this 24/7. I had a crush on a girl I clearly had no chance at, imagine the most beautiful, the sweetest girl in existence.
Now, she's 2x that.
Since I've became a music producer, I started to get a lot of attention in my city. We weren't talking for the last 8 years, 2 weeks ago she texted me about a music video we released, it was a sad song about a breakup. How ironic lol. We started talking again, she gave me a LOT of hope. I thought this is it, i said let's go champ, work until you get your childhood crush to have a crush on you.
It was all lies. I left her place 2 days ago, the same day same night she's sending a picture of another dude laying on his laps, saying it's over.
I'm not suicidal, I just kind of feel lost, this song just reminds me of how strong I was when she was ignoring me back then.
I don't know, i just kind of wanted to sort of type it out, it feels great to let it all out you know.
Keep your head up champ, don't be so naive. Love to you all!
Keep your head up too brother. You're strong!
Just remember that as much as these things sting, they are such good lessons that you carry with you for the rest of your life. You're immensely wiser now for having gone through that.
Best of luck to you in the future homie, peace and love
Keep moving forward.
There's no time to feel sorry about yourself.
But ur a legend....move on and and crush it 🦾⚜💯🤜🤛

first time listening to them and I already wanna lock them in my basement lol
you're in luck because the lead's back ;P
Tiger clan back in my basment.
omg dat voice
i know right! he sounds like he should sing for older rock bands from the era of journey and Def Leppard doesnt he?
he tore a vocal chord, recovered, sang this song, and broke up with the band to get some time to himself
check out Danny's new band We Are Harlot. I'd call them almost a reborn GnR or Def Leppard. His voice is much more suited for that genre and it sounds great
Jack Orton wrong because he left to a new band because he couldn't deal with the fact that he couldn't keep up with the with the music and for what he had done for this band.
Riley Israel Torres then he came back into Asking Alexandria
The guitar riff at the start was stuck like an earworm for the past 2 weeks. Hadn't heard this song in 3 years, now finally getting back to the start of my early rock days.
Who knew his singing voice was so damn good?
Amazing on record not live sadly. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love AA but you have to admit he doesn't have the best live singing voice. It was the same thing with Skid Row and Sebastian Bach great on their records and bad live but I love them too.
mj718 I see...
mj718 Absolutely horrible live.
mj718 Actually I seen them live in Belfast afew days ago and the were amazing, dunno about your standards but damn they're good live.
+Martin Mcbride they weren't so bad that I couldn't listen to. And they have progressed so much. I love AA so it's all good!
One of the most emotional songs that Danny has written and always brings me to tears. Amazing, now he's back & better than ever. For Dennis now its his turn to be moving on.
they both do
ashley collman dennis is a scumbag tho so. no harm here.
Such a heavy, deep song. Weighs on your shoulders. So good though.
Como extraño este Asking Alexandria, era buenisimo, ojala algun dia vuelvan a componer albumes como reckless and relentless o from death to destiny, me da mucha nostalgia.
This band is awesome. ✌️ Great lyrics and your harmonization is spot on!!! ❤️
Maybe it's just me, but I hear a lot of Brian Adams in his voice. Incredible vocalist.
+Ryan McLaughlin exactly my first thought
I was thinking more Don Henley of the Eagles.
Was thinking the same thing. Like Brian Adams vocals to a w.a.s.p ballad :D
Dude has one of the better voices in rock
He sucked trying to sing Chester Benningtons song at his tribute.
His country career is terrible too but thats all country
Definitely a classic voice.
@@davidlandavazo726 no one can be as good as Chester... he is(was) and will be the ONE and ONLY! :) But this dude has great voice as well
David Landavazo what song was that?
The energy is so liberating. People who don't listen this type of music will never understand.
If you are watching this in 2022, you are a legend!! This is such a badass song! If this doesn't get you fired up, nothing will
Even better, listening in 2023
Danny is back ♡

the part where james cries then it cuts to him going all out on stage jst gets to me man idk , cos it shows how even though they miss home they'll always try their hardest to put on a good show for their fans who've came out. God i love these guys

I kinda felt like Danny was on his way to leaving the band when he started We Are Harlot. I just had a feeling, when you start a side band it usually doesn't mean good things imo. Like he says "I should've seen this coming"
Sadness / : I felt the same way !
I know man. :/ It was always in the back of my head. But it's actually a good thing he is leaving. Now AA will be better than ever. And he can go and play "The Pimp and his Harlots". You'll see, AA is going back to Metalcore, like it should.
I think we all saw this coming
Vinn Regi Yes but Danny's voice is so fucking awesome
SchultziePlays I know man, i love his voice. And he can scream, trust me. But, he just doesn't want to. He is more into 80's rock. Harlot fits him more.
This song was a favorite of a friend, that we just received news he's no longer with us. He sent me this song years ago and helped me thru my dark time. I wish I could have helped him the way he helped me. Rest in peace, friend.
Somehow this song gets deep into my soul and leaves a new gash every single time I listen. His voice is so raw and wrenching 😭🖤
Does anyone else think the chorus sounds exactly like Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac?
I've been trying to figure out what fucking song this reminded me of. THAT'S IT! Thanks you!
It gives me a little bit of a Never Too Late by Three Days Grace vibe too
Lol yeah it does
yeaaah!!! I thought I was the only one thinking it sound a little bit like fleetwood mac song
I swear to God, you took the words right out of my mouth, man.
Asking Alexandria grows up as we grow up. When you get older, you start having a more mature music taste. Not to discredit Stand Up and Scream, but from a production and musician standpoint, From Death To Destiny is MILES ahead of anything they've done so far. They mature more and more on every album. Its cool to not like it, everybody has their opinions and individual tastes in music. I get that. Stand Up and Scream is still a sick album. A Prophecy is probably my favorite song of all time. But you can't flat out say that this sucks and is "selling out" or whatever y'all want to call it. Its an evolvement. Every band evolves.
And honestly if you think about it, what album do Asking Alexandria fans get their identity from: Stand Up and Scream. Thats what the world thinks Asking Alexandria fans are all about: open note chugging, 3 breakdowns a song, and no real structure or melody. "Moving On" and almost every song on From Death To Destiny is a great move away from that (without completely changing their identity), and as Asking Alexandria fans, y'all should embrace that.
A comparison would be Avenged Sevenfold. Their first 2 albums are pretty metalcore and then the 3 album goes straight into hard rock without completely changing themselves. They continued to evolve as a band and now they sound completely different than they did even from City of Evil. I'm personally not a huge fan of their past 2 albums (especially their most recent) but Avenged Sevenfold established themselves because they evolved. No band goes anywhere making the same album over and over again.
If you've read this far, I'm surprised. But all in all, solid work from the band. Can't wait to see these guys again. And to the fans that think this "sucks" or whatever, thats cool that's your opinion and no one should resent that. But I would encourage you to try and appreciate it for what it is: a change in identity from a band that has a pretty shitty identity at the moment.
Very nice! I totally agree! I have heard Danny say they would like to "Change the public's perception of AA." I think this is a positive move on their behalf!
very well said my friend. I feel like a lot of younger fans are too naive to grasp this concept and how the music industry + how bands work.
Preach🙌
the minds of 7th graders and maybe a few highschoolers thrown in this comment section who pride themselves on labeling each other. most pathetic fanbase
Yeah there's maturing then there's going back in time. This wouldn't sound out of place in the 80's which I think is the problem. They just lost the majority of their fanbase in all probability. It's more than maturation; this is a genre switch.
The guitar right after “I should’ve seen this coming” gets me every time
I've been trying to remember what song I loved by them. Scrolled through loads of songs and finally found it!
Can't quit listening to this song... I've never been so torn up in all of my life.... should've seen it coming...
Stop it! Go to work!
Dave Brown
This song has such a classic rock sound to it and I love it. I love this band, this is my favorite AA song.
Skylar Shove hell yeah
Skylar Shove love it dude friend me on f book
For years i been tryin to find this song and just now in febuary of 2024, with a relatively recent development of google’s humming feature. Thank God for the minds who came up with that and were able to code it
Escuchaba demasiado este temazo cuando tenia 15. Estoy a menos de un mes de cumplir 26 y me sigue encantando
Danny is heaven on earth; hIs voice, appearance, presence, humor... he’s everything & I’m so glad he came back to the band!
Oh shit I didn't know he left the band
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ben is the real frontman of Asking Alexandria for me..
I'm 58 years old and I love this song
why?
@@yugoaprilian116 why not
why is that a question? This is an amazing song.
No one cares how old you are but if your a fellow fan member then hell yeah
i can relate to that, tough. somehow it reminds me about those ballads in the 80s
Masterpiece
This is the song that made me fall in love with them. The emotion behind it is so beautiful. "I don't wanna do this anymore, in moving on"
[Verse 1]
A boy of anguish, now he's a man of soul
Traded in his misery for the lonely life of the road
The years were cruel to him, no he won't let them go
Lays awake tryina find the man inside to pack his bags and escape this world
[Chorus]
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I should have seen this coming
I've never felt so hopeless than I do tonight
I don't want to do this anymore, I'm moving on
[Verse 2]
He wanted to change the world, to make it all worthwhile
So he put his pen to paper and poured out everything inside
His red eyes tearing up at the man that he'd became
Slowly but surely on the fast track to falling into his grave
[Chorus]
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I should have seen this coming
I've never felt so hopeless than I do tonight
I don't want to do this anymore, I'm moving on
[Bridge]
I can't believe I've come so far in such short time
And I'm still fighting on my own
If I stop to catch my breath I might never breathe again
So just know this
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I can't believe I let myself break down
[Chorus]
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I should have seen this coming
I've never felt so hopeless than I do tonight
I don't want to do this anymore
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I should have seen this coming
I've never felt so hopeless than I do tonight
I don't want to do this anymore, I'm moving on
[Outro]
A boy of anguish, now he's a man of soul
Traded in his misery for the lonely life of the road
at my view point,he wrote this song for single person with struggling in this circuratous life road.i felt something convoluted so i 've been wholeheartdily agree for this song.i owe u fi
He's always reminded me of Ryan Dunn. 💜💜 RIP
