I was going to do that but I figured not many people would have a vacuum chamber, this is more of a cheap fix for people who can’t afford a new screen 👍
Love the idea! I know you've said you didn't want to use the vac chamber as not many people would have access to one, but I think a lot of people would love to see a uv only repair and a uv + vac repair side by side to see the difference. I know I would!
Holy cow this is amazing! The sensitivity looks like it's not diminished at all, even! Ben you are on another level with this! Heaven forbid I ever break mine I'm going to do just this instead of going out and buying a whole new watch!
I thought my apple watch was catastrophically cracked (deep shatters all around the rim & a hefty crack running across the entire length of screen) but tried this out with whatever uv resin brand I was able to find at the closest craft store and the results are amazing! Screen still responds to touch everywhere and the screen doesn't feel jagged at all! absolute miracle, thank you!
What do you think would happen if you tried to get perfect trade in score for the watch. Mine has a gouge in it and I want to try this to see if I can trade in my series 6 for a series 9
Ben! What a mid-week surprise! 1st: You giving Jake your watch-such a dad move. An awesome dad move. 2nd:Did you see this hack anywhere or did you think this up all by yourself? If so, it's genius!
Hi Ben, thanks for sharing this cool repair! Do you know if the UV Resin would also seal/protect the screen from water? My watch has a single crack, so I've not been swimming with it, but am hopeful this repair would prevent water from entering/damaging the display.
I was going to do that but I figured not many people would have a vacuum chamber, this is more of a cheap fix for people who can’t afford a new screen 👍
Always wondered. Is that UV Resin the same as 3D printer resin? I got loads of clear resin that I use to print with but never sure if its actually the same stuff?
The stuff you use does look like its a little thicker, my printer resin seems to be fairly runny. I know my clear stuff does tend to cure with a yellow tint too.
Hi Ben, I’ve been using a few different epoxies for a while and wondered why I should give justresin a crack they don’t seem to be able to be poured very deep.
Random question Ben but have you tried clearpox resin? Think its new out ,seems a bit cheaper than most? Thanks should of used my uv resin on my shower screen lol
I just watched this. I live in the states and I want to try this on a chipped glass 2015 iMac 27”. Which links are for the resin and torch. What kind of thing did you use to smooth it out?
Do you think this kind of thing could work on a scratched cd/dvd? I know nail polish can damage the plastic they use, and I have some old discs sitting around that just aren't worth it to professionally resurface... but something like this might be useful if the resin doesn't melt them 🤔
Hi Ben, i have the scratch on my phone, can i use uv resin to fix it, and apply screengard on it. If i do it i am afread that it will pop out some bubbles on screen gard. please share your thoughts on it.? And i should do it or not ?
Why did people tell me resin is expensive? That tube is 7 dollars for UV resin? That's not bad at all. I saw so many comments talking about resin waste etc due to cost...I don't know what they were complaining about. Great fix!
Wow! Ben you have inspired me to try out resin for my own hobby projects... i love your ideas and your experiments. I'm gonna try a table top with natural stones. Thank you.
Right! I wasn't planning on trying resin but this video really hit me as a tech guy, and therefore the person people come to when things break. My boyfriend has a busted up iPhone that I'm dying to try this on. Keeping UV resin around should save so much time, and I'm sure that's how the rabbit hole will start.
I know that you replied a while ago, but I'm really curious to know if it worked. I have one that is working fine but cracked on the back. I'd like to make it waterproof but kind of afraid that resining the back might turn a watch that's only problem is not being waterproof into a watch that doesn't work at all.
A few weeks ago I dropped my Apple Watch on the bathroom floor and somehow got a ~1 cm crack right in the *center* of the screen. I've been trying to live with it but it drives me nuts. I'm not willing to spend over half the cost of the watch on an official Apple repair (which is really just a refurbished replacement), but I'm a bit nervous about trying something like this. Then again, a) even if it wasn't perfect, it would be better than the crack I have now, and b) it would still cost the same to have Apple replace it whether I did the UV resin trick first or not, so… I think I'll go for it. Thanks for the demonstration!
@@BensWorx ah right I’ll make sure to take it off when in pools ect. I took mine off to put it on charge today and I dropped it on kitchen floor🤦♂️ still works perfectly but it’s in about the same condition as the one in your video
Nice job!! I've been thinking about using my uv resin on my car windshield. It's got a crack from one of those annoying as hell gravel trucks. It hasn't spread at all, just a crack the size of a big garden pea.
Thank you so much! I did it and it feels so much better. I was wondering whether I could have used a pressure cooker to have filled the cracks deeper but I wasn’t sure so I just did it as you did. I don’t have a pressure chamber
I'm so glad the watch still works. Such a neat idea to use the resin. Although - do you think Jake is going to give you your watch back now his is fixed? Lol. 💜
Great job!! I wonder if that would work on phones and tablets too?? Ive got a couple of old phones and tablets that my kids have cracked and no longer use, I just might try that out on those! Thanks for the awesome tip Ben!😆✌
@@BensWorx I never thought to try resin to repair a touch screen! You truly are an amazing artist Ben! Cheers, I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Hey Ben🙂 Thanks for this, I have been lucky so far with electronics...however now I know who to send them to...haha I will be sure to try this if needed. Take care
Ben I have a question about the first resin curing lamp you have linked. It appears to be for 3D printing uv resin. Will that also cure the UV resin used for crafting like you used to repair the watch?
I usually replace the parts in devices myself, but on some devices it's just a massive pain. I wonder if I can fix the deep scratches in an old DS I'm refurbishing (for myself) doing something similar. Taking it apart and separating the glass from the display just seems like more work than it's worth.
It's a good way to fix if the touch still works, it will probably also prevent crack expansion later since the crack is glued and wont be able to grow easly, might even work on a smartphone if you are missing glass in a corner or somewhere where it doesn't affect the touch
Do you think this would work for fixing small scratches on a phone screen? I got a scratch in the middle of mine from my keys, and it annoys me cause I can see the scratch when I'm using it outside lmao
I did something similar with my windshield, except the kit came with small plastic sheets to cover the cracks as they cured, and then you used a razor blade to scratch off any excess after you peel the plastic sheets off. This way you get a nice smooth surface.
i did this on my ipad , i applied several layers and sanded and polished the resin after , you can only see the repair if you look across the screen at eye level
Will it work if the screen is cracked and the screen is unresponsive, but only parts of it is responsive. I just dropped mine and i dont know how to fix it. came to this video and saw that it looked just like mine only with a lot more cracks. Will it still work? Will it be respinsive to touch if i use uv resin? Pls somebody answer
Holy crap, Ben! Y’all need to run. Tim Cook’s probably already dispatched an Apple strike team to your house!
😂
Seems your screen has a crack, best we can do is sell you a new watch.
here comes the cease and desist Lawyer letter your not allowed to repair an apple product you never technically own it
I'd have used the old vacuum chamber to fill in all those cracks better

maybe there would be the risk of the resin getting pulled into the buttons mech and jamming it?
It would be interesting to see the resin built up enough where you could sand it level and around the curves and polish it to a glass polish.
I can tell you yes...uv resin or polish is what's used for gel polish.
What would be the other substitute of UV Resin?
That works great, the scratches disappeared. You're a good Dad, giving Jake yours and fixing the cracked one for yourself.
You can barely see those cracks on the face of it, nice work on it mate, its good seeing things being fixed in different ways 🙌🙌
