You can NEVER get moments like this with Green Screen / CGI. That's where Lucas FELL FLAT with the Prequels. The moment between Luke and Rey is ICONIC and INDESCRIBABLY BEAUTIFUL! NO GREEN SCREEN CAN CREATE THAT!

I loved it so much! I am from Germany but have been to Ireland for like 50 times, most of the time to iveragh. I love the area there so much, the people, the environment, everything. Seeing this on the big screen is really huge :)
I'm from Ireland, this marvellous island got it's well deserved visibility. Can't imagine an alternate location for filming this.
Nothing like having mark hamill come back as luke skywalker, just so he can turn around and flip his hood for a literal cliff hanger

@@jentel7633 well good for you but personally they could've been better and there are tons of videos on why they arent that good I used to also enjoy them but now seeing what happened behind the scenes and how corrupt disney is or can be I don't like them anymore but if you like them more power to you. :)

brcshephard Rock on. It's good to be able to say what part of the country (any country) your nationality comes from. Being half Irish myself, and fortunate enough to know what part of Ireland my mom came from, I get rather annoyed when people claim to be Irish and I ask "Oh, from what part of Ireland?" and the person says "Oh I don't know...". That's usually because "Great great great great great grandfather O'Neil emigrated from 'somewhere in Ireland' when he was a *fetus*"!! If it's that far back in the lineage, it's definitely not enough to claim that nationality!

It is just interesting how creators emphasize the importance of use of proper real-world location in star wars movies and purposely avoid showing or admitting that prequels used such as well. Go Di$ney!
Always best to avoid the BAD MEMORIES in your family right? JJ and gang knew how to insult the Prequels without directly mentioning them --- and created a film far BETTER than all the Prequels combined.
LOL, that was not even closely my point. Direct transaltion of my comment - Disney is putting a huge nostalgia dick into fans' arseholes by pandering to them while obviously being slanderous when it comes to admitting that their piece of shit film used as much CGI as prequels. And no, TFA has never and will never be a better production than any of the prequels in any aspect.
TFA is far better, did better at the Box Office, has sold more Merchandise and gotten far more RAVE reviews than any prequel. The Prequels were and remain a "skid mark" on the Star Wars legacy.
None of those is an objective argument supporting alleged supremacy of TFA. Having sold better only proves how desperate and easy to satisfy are the "fans". Disney had not even had much to do in order to turn up the hype.
Rave reviews? You obviously believe a critic's opionion is not biased and not bought out by disney. Besides, for the love of God, please take a look somewhere besides USA - Polish filmweb or Russian KinoPoisk are good examples to start with. It's impossible not to notice that user ratings (not selected few reviews) for TFA easily sink behind the relatively positive reception of the prequels.
I honestly pity your love and dedication to TFA.
OK let's ignore the fact that TFA is the most successful movie in the history of North America and has restored faith and interest in the SW franchise. Gotcha..... yeah let's ignore that and go watch the CGI DISASTERS known as the Prequels. Sorry dude --- the Prequels are DONE. We aren't going back, we are moving FORWARD with Films FIRMLY based on the OT. It's not my opinion, it is FACT --- the OT has prevailed. D_O_N_E

You can cross by boat and land on the island between May 2nd and October 15th. Departures to Skellig Michael are usually from Portmagee (you need to book in advance though!) May the Force be with you!
