Original Adam de Gordon (Adleme de Gordun Knight) came with William the Conquer in 1066 from Normandy and was awarded lands for his loyalty to the new King William. I am a descendant of the Gordon Clan on my mother's side (Huntley) who came to Barbadoes in the 1600's and John Huntley up to Lyme CN and had a business as a cooper (barrel maker and fish shipper) Family moved to Virginia and farmed and had many children my ancestor moved to Rutherford county NC and then to Henderson County NC in the 1800's and my mother was born in Fairview, Henderson County NC (Father was Huntley and Mother was Mitchell both Scotish)
Looks like it would be an interesting stay. I will have to put this on my 'Bucket List' of places I want to visit.
Well worth it and a lot more to see in the locality

Plenty of Gordon Clan history to follow.
That would be Lord Byron. A different branch of the Gordon family who came from Gight near Methlick.

Thanks for the information. Good to hear that you have explored your roots thoroughly
You might want to fact check this. Archibald Simpson was most definitely an Aberdonian!
I stand corrected madam. I see that he had a hand in Aberdeens architecture.
