- In the night of 20th to 21st February 1945 in Linkhout near Lummen (Belgium) a Lancaster ARF2 bomber was shot down by a German nightfigther.
The aircraft exploded and came down burning. Six of the seven crewmembers perished, except for the pilot Alex Jenkins, who survived the crash. 70 years after these events a worthy commemoration was held in the community.
A very moving tribute, thank you. My late father was a 56 operations veteran of 35 Squadron (pathfinders) bomber command. One of the lucky ones to survive.
Thank You for reminding about the Brave young men, who stood up against Terror and Dictatorship.
The odds of getting out alive from Bomber Command was not great, but they flew despite of that.
Thank You for this emotional tribute.
Aangrijpend document,met mooi aangepast muziek.
Proficiat,
Wim Beckers
