Good on you for taking on such a big project, I'd love an American car especially a station wagon, but they're so expensive here. So I'll live vicariously through you thanks. Must say i was surprised to hear it run, sounded bloody good as well! All the best man 🤘
Thank you. I was surprised when it fired up. There isn't an exhaust on it and it wasn't as loud as I thought it would have been. But no knocking so I was happy.
Nice save! I'd suggest a replacement fuel pump, and you'll most likely need a new tank and lines. Trust me. I'd also look into a replacement brake master-cylinder, wheel-cylinders, and flexible lines(the ones at each wheel). Trust me. That said, you've got a great old car there and I hope you're able to get it on the road!
Cheers. The brake master cylinder is new and the pump seems recent. We will replace the lines and get the tank out to check out. Getting a new one over here may not be cheap. We have new shoes and a couple of wheel cylinders that came with the car. A Rock Auto order should be arriving today with the missing brake parts.
@@crap_car Nice. I'll look around my local junkyards for any "65 Galleys. If I find any I'll drop a message and you can tell me if you're missing any trim or such. If I can snag any I'll send stuff out to you.

That is a monumental pile of crap - perfect for your channel. I'm sure people would love to see more work on it. If you want to see more crap American cars, check out the summer cruising scene in Sweden. This car would be right at home. A bit of music trivia - there was an American indie band called Galaxie 500 in the late 80s/early 90s.
I've heard a lot of cars go to Sweden. I'll have to make a visit. Yep I know Galaxie 500. I was a John Peel listener back in the day. (Just gone 20 years since his passing)
It's 23rd November. Would be good to meet you if you can make it. I've enjoyed following your Vette progress. Ryan may be going in his 67 Mustang. I won't be in my Galaxie.
That engine definitely looks very high mileage with the amount of rubbish what was on the rockers good luck on it. I think you probably need it a lot of work today.
Back in 2000 I had a Linc Conti MKV and that had a frightening thirst having the Galaxie's 7 litre version engine in it, just starting it up cost a quid and I estimated it gave me 8mpg so be warned them big blue V8's will pauperise the unwary fuelwise and you get a lot of noise and not much travel for the privilege lol
A lot of the biggest HP's in these were police cars having the larger engines from sister motors, being cream coloured it may well be an ex old bill motor so check for filled holes in roof, shadows of police logos etc although the sun may have bleached any trace of and the top domes wiring could have come up through the vinyl roof section so not a given.
I had to google it, as I couldn't remember. It was a 68 Galaxie. I found a great blog entitled 'Who really killed Ford Timelord?' about it and what happened to it.
If it was me who'd bought this wreck sorry car and saw all that water pissing out of the sump l would of removed the carb inlet manifold and heads to check the (freshly rebuilt lmao) pistons and bores for rust and pitting, a gasket set for these Yank cars are quite cheap, you can also purchase a priming tool to build oil pressure prior to starting, saying that you could very easily make one. Real Steel are a good company for any spares you might need for this car. lt will make a great car once finished.
We looked down the bores with an endoscope (off camera) and saw some water sat on the pistons but the bores themselves and piston tops were fine with no rust. So we thought we would risk it.
Hmmmm.....has somebody been watching too much vice grip garage? In all honesty, those lumps are pretty hard to kill, tho just because it's a california car, doesn't mean it'll be rust free, spent a few years out there and had many many Fred flinstone style vehicles, as you only needed a smog certificate and working brake lights to be legal at that time, brakes didn't need to work, just th lights.... A bit of graft and it'll be fine...
I do enjoy Vice Grip, but probably prefer Junkyard Digs. We've had a good look under and around the car. The rear floors need a bit of work, but not much, and that's it. Boot floor is solid.
Of you've not seen Jennings motor sports, or something like that, he's refreshing on just how bad an engine can be and still be persuaded to run, he's got a mad arkansas accent, and many of his projects are more dust than metal, but I watch him and wonder what I'm complaining about with mine...JYD is good, but his missus annoys th jesus out of me...
Looking at the film I think you have a couple of lazy lifters on the drivers side ! But having said that chaps where there's life there's hope at it doesn't sound dreadful good luck.
Yes please, more on this one 👍
I'd like to see the Galaxie back on the Road so good luck with that Rebuilt Engine 👍
I love that you were taking the piss, but clubbed together to get it running 👍👍.
Yes please to seeing more of this 👍
More of this please!
Definitely more of the Galaxie for me please Mike 😎😁
Love to see a complete rebuild, I think it would be great for the channel.
you are a brave man! Love the research and the history - good work
I would love the see more on all your cars.
Cheers! I'm either brave or stupid! We will continue the series.
Not sure they are mutually exclusive!
Always wanted one of those, bloke used to drive one on my way to school when I was a kid back in the 70s. Lovely
Lovely car, sounds great, hope to see more of it. They were raced in the British touring car championship in 1963/64 and scored some victories.
I've seen the '63 Galaxie racing at Goodwood revival.
Would Definitely like to see more on this one guys
What a fabulous car! More please.
Sounds lovely already
Thanks.
I'd love to see more of this.
Yes, please worth saving
Top project!
More please👍
Also built in Canada, where a few got exported to Australia, meaning RHD. That allowed a handful to make it to the UK as well.
Great stuff guys thanks as always.
Definitely want to see more of this..
Yes please!
More please 👍👍
That’s got to come to bits mate
Please more
Great project. So cool 😎
Thank you! I'm looking forward to cruising the streets of Wakefield!
As vice grip, garage would say a Craig list rebuild!!!!! A B/S rebuild
What a sweet ride,although it's not a car it's a barge("Theres engine in the oil"-Matt,2024),please more of this american barge, it's amazing
More videos please.
Good job new car parking spaces are bigger 😉
I looked it up the other day, and the standard uk space is 4.8m long. This car is 5.3m long.
That sounded great even for a bag of nails V8 !! A rebuild and straight pipe it!! Its the only way to go with it!

That engine definitely looks very high mileage with the amount of rubbish what was on the rockers good luck on it. I think you probably need it a lot of work today.
Back in about 1963/4 I knew a young soldier who won one of these in a raffle and he could not drive.
Love to see more of the galaxy but not at the detriment of the marina gt!
We have a plan going forward. It will mainly be me and Ryan working on the Galaxie and Matt, Si and Ryan working on the Marina.
