"I locked into those eyes, you reminded me of Dennis Hopper in the cage in Apocalypse Now and I thought I'm on television with a complete madman." Well said, and he made Jiminy crack
This is like a prize fight between two comedic heavyweights. I had no idea Dennis Miller could hold his own against Short’s Glick like this, hilarious episode!
Miller does fine, but I'd argue a handful of rambling pop culture references (Dennis Hopper, Midnight Express, David Cronennerg, etc.) isn't necessarily comedic; more just showing off random things he remembers
Miller is holding hos own pretty well. But when you see Short beside even the top comedians...he just steals the show. Nobody has more talent than Martin Short.
Dennis Miller got destroyed during that "suck the essence out" exchange at 3:14. Thought he was being clever, and Jiminy went in for the kill. Even Miller acknowledged the comeback.
Miller had a period of time where he brought the best out of the comedians around him, especially in improv. I fin him insufferable sometimes, but can’t help but love his style
Perfect example of why you don’t try to best Jiminy Glick. He takes all of Dennis’ bad jokes, rolls them into a ball and fires them out of s cannon like the absolute genius he is. God bless this man.
Too funny! I haven't watched any of these Jiminy shows in ages! I just watched him with Steve Martin...such a blast and now Dennis Miller...."an hour and 10 into Midnight Express" LOL I wish Martin Short would do these shows again. I do think he does concerts from time to time and Jiminy appears. Some of the comments on here are pretty funny also, but the people making them don't know why!
Dennis Miller is so fast and has a huge reservoir to pull from, and, is a genuine good sport, relaxed. Short is usually always on point. The better the guest, the better is Jiminy.
Jiminy Glick is so freakin' funny! I love his interviews. The funniest ones are Nathan Lane (who can't keep it together at all), Steve Martin, Bill Maher, and Jeneane Garofalo. If you notice in this interview, Martin Short almost loses @ 1:28, and I've really never seen him do that.
Check out his interview with Lorraine bracco. She asked him a question and he gets completely stuck. But it all worked out still. That's one of my favorite interviews.
Can you imagine Jiminy going up with today’s stars?! Chris Pratt, Tom Hiddleston, or Millie Bobby Brown?! That’d be something to see. Pratt would go along with it gleefully, Hiddleston would try to play along but be at a loss, and Brown wouldn’t be able to keep it together.
Miller's body language stands out: defended, self-protective. And he also seemed prepared with digs, in contrast to Short's true improv. Too bad he couldn't just relax and enjoy Jiminy's show.
The whole point of these interviews is to see if you can get either to crack. That's a huge victory for a comedian if he can get someone to break down. The best known is Billy Crystal doing Fernando's Hideaway with Hogan and MR T. He got them real good to break character and bust out laughing.
That would be a fantastic combination. The understated Norm with the over the top Jimmy. That would be a comedic match made in Heaven. Well chosen KingLizard!
I like Dennis a lot, but I knew he wasn't going to be too good here, and I was right. I knew there was no way he would be willing to play the straight man, which is what it takes to make a good Jiminy interview. The best interviewees know how to play along and have fun with it.
Miller's not my favorite comedian (absolutely no denying his cleverness/intelligence, but not a huge fan of his delivery) but he absolutely plays his role beautifully, his 2 interviews with Jiminy Glick are among the very best.
Guests who try to out-funny Jiminy always come off as assholes. They sort of refuse to play along and can't allow him to run the show. They don't seem to realize they look ridiculous and desperate grabbing the spotlight from a fictitious character. Miller loses in this one.
+Christine L Exactly what I said. Miller loses. And it's call "Upstaging" when a guest tries to steal focus from the star. Ugh. Have to admit it was a funny interview except for the wretched last joke by Miller when he steals Martin's joke on top of everything else! He was misinformed. He thought the producers told him to go out there and do a Martin Short doing Jiminy Glick impersonation.
+suckittomcat It's improv comedy and I think Martin Short was having an off night. I know that once he gets rolling the guests are left pretty much speechless.
W. Garces Disagree re: Miller. Miller has always wanted to be a comedian with the "it" factor but never succeeded. He's not being supportive when he's clearly trying to steal focus. I've seen a lot of Martin's interviews and you can always tell the guests who are jealous from the guests who are gracious and having a good time. It's sad, really--for Miller, that is. When someone like Miller engages in this type of tactic, it throws Martin off a bit because his guest is not playing his "part". Miller is off "script" so to speak. Just a sad dick and he's not the only one.
suckittomcat I understand what you're saying and I have to agree with you. I was never a fan of DM. He's never had that "it" factor like a Robin Williams, Martin Short or Chris Rock. I understand now that Short playing the Glick character isn't supposed to switch gears and go off on Miller because the Click character isn't based on simply insulting the guests for the sake of humiliating them. I understand. You're supposed to have fun. Like the interview between Glick and Catherine O'Hara which I thought was off the cuff comedy brilliance because they played off each other. But just once I'd love for Short to morph into an insult comic like a Jeff Ross and start ripping into Miller mercilessly. Knowing the pretentious prick Miller is he'd start to chuckle with every quip directed at him then try to be a quick wit and spit out a half-assed comeback. But I'd love for Short to break just a slight bit outside of character and rip into Miller to the point of Miller crying uncle and walking off. And any other guest trying to upstage him. That'd be amazing.
The pride of Miller just ruined this. Short just couldn't blossom like he usually does. Short is still about the funniest person alive today. And the most underrated of all time.
Too funny how they talk about Scientology. I live a couple of miles from Golden Base. I hate driving through there. It's creepy as f. I flip the cameras they have on Gilman Springs Road and you can see the stupid ship....🙄
My Jiminy Glick addiction is getting out of hand. I just can’t control myself.
its 4am, what am i doing...
John Willis .... your posting about your Glick addiction is getting out of control.
Methadone
Right?
Andrew Dussault It’s 3:30 am and what am I doing? Reading your comment. 😂
Someone start a petition for netflix to give jiminy his show ill sigh it
Good idea
I'll sigh it to
Fuck Netflix- pedophilia' is gross with "cuties" disgusting.
So say we all!!
Whatev we can do for jiminy glick...im for!
Best description of Scientology I've ever heard.
THAT was classic !!
Brilliant!
In a nut shell
One of the best comedic characters ever...
What do you mean?
John Guanciale - Jiminy Glick is not real he’s a character played by Martin Short.
I still Pole Vault privately.
Dixie and I.
"I locked into those eyes, you reminded me of Dennis Hopper in the cage in Apocalypse Now and I thought I'm on television with a complete madman." Well said, and he made Jiminy crack
Great rapport between these two! @ 1.26 Short wants to laugh but holds it in.
Dennis Millers kills it.
Glick and Miller.
The quick and the slick.
Jeez did he take a header!
" I pole vault, Personally in private " ......LMAO ...Love you Jiminy !!! xoxo
The best part is watching Martin Short break character when Dennis says Apocalypse Now.
“Baseball is when the Irish people run around in shorts, and it’s like soccer “ Jiminy your the man!!!!
Wonderfull, wonderful, wonderful.. wonderful, wonderffle!
I do that sometimes in conversation with people and no one ever picks out the reference!! 😅
Martin Short is one of the greatest comedians doing one of the greatest characters ever created, Jiminy Glick!
Dennis Miller is my favorite!
Both are quick, smart and funny as hell. Jiminy met his match in Dennis Miller. Love it.
Best description of Scientology I've heard yet
Love Dennis Miller....so relaxed and so confident.
Is he not a GOD??
and quick witted ... but a bit of a douche and not funny
He’s the Ted Bundy of comedy.
Dennis Miller peaked during his SNL years
I thought Miller was kind of an asshole in this.
Done with love
@@darshloafYeah he ruined the comedic flow with the rambling.
Miller is holding hos own pretty well. But when you see Short beside even the top comedians...he just steals the show. Nobody has more talent than Martin Short.
Agreed
Dame Edna is the best . Martin Short not even close
His wazoo overfloweth
Would like to have seen Robin Williams and Norm Macdonald
Him and Catherine ohara
fokin Glick - watching him and love him more with every video
Dennis Miller got destroyed during that "suck the essence out" exchange at 3:14. Thought he was being clever, and Jiminy went in for the kill. Even Miller acknowledged the comeback.
This is one of the best ones.
Looks like the shuttle lost a few heat tiles. - Chip Barkhouse The Drummist.
Love the set Jimmy, its very "Joe Pine"... Haha, Joe Pine... I love Joe Pine... Who's Joe Pine? Lol!
Wow!!! Thank god Martin Short remembered what comedy was!!! Amazing he invited a heckler on stage with him.
1:35 A classic Glick move, but the upcoming pratfall is probably the best I've ever seen.
1:37 get it right
@@stevehorn646 Psycho
"oh that didn't hurt at all"
*THUMP* as he falls over again
I'm crying
I realized how good Martin Short was when I only saw Glick.
Fair play to Miller - he gave as good as he got !
Martin Short got Miller good on the 'suck' exchange. It took Miller a while to realize what just happened. Simply, brilliant.
Miller played along like a neurosurgeon. They are absolutely PERFECT together.
Wonderful. Wonderful wonderful.
Possibly the best interview I've ever seen.
Holy crap, how many of these are there? I'll never get any work done.
I started at 6 this morning...it is now 9:30.Pure genius, god bless Martin Short....👍
Have always had a crush on DM but not like that but in a straight-up wholesome brother to brother way.
1:18 the coffee cup is there 1:37 it’s gone. Magic!
I LOVE to see the guests get tickled pink by Jiminy! It’s hilarious to watch! Very delightful ❤️
When Dennis Miller realized the Suck comment and actually Claps.
It almost feels like a sporting match between two talented guys.
Everyone says no one sucks in Hollywood like Dennis Miller🤣😂
Short is once again full of surprises, every episode is amazing.
His physical comedy is incredible
Fun to see Dennis Miller being interviewed by Jiminy.
I'm having one as a victory!!!
Dennis is the goat man
That was actually hillariously poignant from both of them on the point of scientology
I was half expecting Miller to try and upstage Short (much the same way Conan did....horribly)....but this was actually quite good.
Miller had a period of time where he brought the best out of the comedians around him, especially in improv. I fin him insufferable sometimes, but can’t help but love his style
@@nostalgiajunkie I see him in exactly the same way.
When two comedic geniuses collide. Amazing stuff!
Best definition of Scientology!
Perfect example of why you don’t try to best Jiminy Glick. He takes all of Dennis’ bad jokes, rolls them into a ball and fires them out of s cannon like the absolute genius he is. God bless this man.
Dennis Miller is very witty but the best line was "no one sucks in hollywood like Dennis Miller.." lol he even praised Martin for that
That was simplistic low hanging fruit. You just went into this wanting..needing Martin Short to come out ahead, well, he Didn't. Miller destroyed him.
@@johnnybmean74 bs, Martin didn't break character once, Dennis was giggling like a baby throughout the interview
I wish this show was still on
Jiminy is in rehab again.
Short damn near loses it at 1:20 with the Dennis Hopper line. It's unreal he didn't break.
Too funny! I haven't watched any of these Jiminy shows in ages! I thought it was Martin Sheen in the cage - Hopper was the wigged-out photojournalist.

I just adore that big GUY!
Jiminy Glick would be funny interviewing a chair. Even interviewing Dennis Miller he's funny.
no one sucks in Hollywood like Dennis Miller hahahahaha

I love Dennis and miss him. I don't always agree with him, but he really is brilliant and intelligent and sometimes people feel threatened by that.
Dennis Miller seems like a self-impressed prick but when Glick fell face forward out of his chair I fucking lost it
I'm a pole vaulter by trade --- I spit-took and choked.
Miller's body language stands out: defended, self-protective. And he also seemed prepared with digs, in contrast to Short's true improv. Too bad he couldn't just relax and enjoy Jiminy's show.
The guests trying to be funny are the worst
Just let him work
It's worse here because Dennis Miller has never been funny his whole life
@@Phantoma3 your accuracy on this matter is divine

That would be a fantastic combination. The understated Norm with the over the top Jimmy. That would be a comedic match made in Heaven. Well chosen KingLizard!
they were almost friends but then short wanted to spend the weekend in his villa.
too weird for normie
I’d kill to see Mr. Glick interview Joey Diaz or Bill Burr.
Skip E Lowe!
love the show!! awesome
No One Sucks in Hollywood like Dennis Miller! LLLLOOOLLLL!!!!
Dennis got to say 10 times more than any other guest Jiminy ever has,
Jimmy gave a good description of Scientology.
How does Short never break character?
Smarmy Dennis Miller. He should be working with Bobby Bitman.
He's not good enough for Bobby maybe not even good enough for Skip!!

Nah, Dennis was good here.
Agreed, Dennis was too smug to make it a good interview, came across as an asshole.
You know Stanley Tucci used Glick to develop Caesar Flickerman in Hunger Games.
Dennis handled this interview so well.
Didn't get rattled one little bit. 😆 LOL 👍
Dennis was scared because he knew he didn't deserve to be interviewed by Jiminy. Out of his league.
Lol 3:19 checkmate! Dennis agrees.
I loved him in the Net, Sandra Bullock best movie
This is improv at its best.
I'm on a jiminy glickathon lol
Wowwww so good!!
