I remember somebody saying that Jerrell had multiple offers from power 5 schools, but he wanted to stay loyal to Findlay. So, who knows with this guy, maybe a diamond in the rough.

Murphy was an absolute steal. No defensive picks until 15?!? Hawks fans certainly know the value of a strong D. I love where Big Mac's head is.

Thanks God teams overdraft QBs that had no business being picked in the first round. Murphy in most drafts could have been a top 5 pick or at worst top 10. To get him at 16 is like winning the lottery without a ticket. An actual impact player. Something Seattle needed. They have a roster for the most part full of just guys. Murphy's tape screams impact.

    Days 1 & 2 = grade A & day 3 = B. I recall 99.9% of pundits disrespecting BWags & Russ class as worst draft of the decade.
Saying both Bwags & Russ wud bust as were 2 small & 2 slow & wud be cut before pre-season.
I think new day 3 star CB's can be found like Sherman & Byron Maxwell
    &
New day 3 LB's like KJWright & Malcom Smith
    &
    New day 3 OL's like Sweezy & G.Fant.
JS has a good record of finding unpolished gem's on day 3.
Most vital to note is that we used our R2 on Big Cat a top 10 & top 20% experienced nfl pro bowl DT to teach BM2 over next 2-3 yrs.
We also used a R4 on Sam Howell who is already better & younger than Nix & Penix & Rattler.
Sam's stats after 17 games are better than Josh Allen after 17 games (eg TD to INT ratio).
We also get 3 guys back from IR who hardly played in rookie seasons
    R4 DL Cam Young
R5 DL Mike Morris (OL award winner)
R7 KR/RB Kenny Mac are effectively red shirt rookies in this class
    &
Expect huge 2nd yr Boye Mafe type leaps from Derek Hall & Olu, (Mafe was very weak in Rookie yr then exploded over a 7 game stretch in yr 2).
    R2 OLB Derek Hall
    R5 Oluwatimi.
For some southern boys from hot humid climates, it can take 1 - 3 yrs to settle into NFL's Stormiest Rainiest Windiest City, huge miles away from home sweet home & momma's nice cooking & sweet love.
This is really a 13 man class.
With 5 clear potential stars in
    DL Big Cat Leo W,
    QB Sam H,
    DL BM2 (a potential AD99/Mike Bennett hybrid),
    OCG C.Haynes, (a potential Unger/Hutchison hybrid)
    DL Mike Morris
    &
    my professor's brain thinks
some stars will be found from day 3, I recall most 12s saying Sherman & Maxwell KJW & Dissly & Sweezy & Unger were wasted picks. I recall most 12s voting in online polls saying those picks would be busts except Unger, who they said should have been taken in R5-7.
    I have a good feeling about 5,
    Multi-skilled AJB,
    &
Superfast boys Nehemiah P & DJ James
    &
Strong boys Satuoa L & Jerrell etc.
Time will tell & we will know more after the pre-season games.
Keep praying 12s. it's how the Chiefs fans ended 50 years of hurt.
If we get only 1 all-pro star & the rest fail, then we had a great draft.
Lord willing, we will recruit more than 1 star.

I thought our latter rounds could’ve been picked a better outside of Jarrell who seems to have all the physicals. If he can be coached up, he’s a problem it seems. But there were faster prospects at LB that I’d guess would fit just fine. Not a big fan of the spot we took the TE or Knight. The last couple I reserve for prospects and developmental guys.

I give this draft a B, i wanted them to focus more on the LB position (and get my favorite guy Junior Colson) but happy they are building the trenches. I am a little bit confused on why so many CBs and not a single Safety….

CBs are expensive after rookie contracts expire. I think the high-ups are just hedging here. No way these rookies will see much time this year given the current positional talent.

    • @larrylindgren9484
      @larrylindgren9484 3 місяці тому

If the corner was better than the safety, you pick the corner. To draft a safety just to draft one would be a bad move. The two corners have speed (above average). Speed kills. Speed can cover mistakes. Burns is not the answer, Brown shows you he'll give up more than he takes. Jackson is fine but he's at his ceiling. He'll be fine but not a game changer. These two corners if they grow into the traits could be game changers because of speed which most of Seattle secondary doesn't have.

I love going big and nasty in the draft and i think getting the corners where they did could be real value steals. I also think im the only one not as high on haynes. He wasnt exactly playing the top competition in college football. Im not saying he cant be good either but he only played tennesee that was it. I like my beef grade A going up against the other Grade A comp( I know there are exceptions and anomolies). Knight felt like a reach also. Maybe a bobby in the rough? I thought it was a solid draft still.

  • @RandyCreates

Trading down from the top of the fourth, when several highly rated players had fallen there, and then Drafting Knight is likely a big mistake, other than that it was a good overall draft

If a draft choice does really well for you, in the fourth year they will want a huge pay increase and you might not be to afford to keep them.
So draft a 24-year-old rookie who is ready to go, because they are going to leave in year 4 if you do your job well drafting them.

It’s funny that in college a LB having high tackle numbers is great but in the NFL, a high tackle count for an LB means the defense is bad. Bobby led the league in tackles the last two years yet it was always followed with a comment like “he shouldn’t be tackling that much”

    • @jeremyestrill1764
      @jeremyestrill1764 3 місяці тому +1

Its where the tackles are that count.....TFLs, sacks, tackles 5 yards or less......if its a lot of tackles 6 plus yards after the line of scrimmage or after a first down, that's when its a lot of tackles that are kinda worthless

The only pick I have an issue was our last pick Michael Jerrell. If you read his draft profile he’s more of a depth piece that needs to be refined. Even according to nfl draft profile he was never a consideration to be drafted. Hes more of a practice squad piece and a wasted pick. He could’ve been a udfa
“Jerrell is nowhere near ready to take an NFL snap, but his traits and athleticism might be worth a developmental plan. To be sure, Jerrell is a project. However, he should be able to improve as both a run and pass blocker with a year of technique work. He’s limber enough with good range to climb to linebackers or set out to edge rushers. Jerrell is unlikely to be drafted, but his tools might entice a team to bring him in for a longer look in camp.”

    • @brianblank9921
      @brianblank9921 3 місяці тому +1

As a UDFA you choose where you go if you're invited. The hawks likely knew he would be invited to camp somewhere else and wouldn't sign with the hawks. When you want a developmental guy and you don't think he'll sign a UDFA deal, you gotta draft him.

Offensive line has definitely been Schneider’s biggest weakness in the draft. Has a lot to do with risk taking on guys with character and injury flags early in his tenure here. So it’s understandable that he’s put off but also frustrating to hear him whine about Lewis’ contract which just looks like his current fair value to me. Really Schneider’s only proven draft success story in that phase though Cross will likely prove to be another.

He doesn't value OL. It shows. He thinks you can get anyone, and it works. It doesn't. People forget when they won the SB Seattle had the highest paid OL. The next year when they lost it was near the bottom. Funny their struggles on offense started at that time through the present. You get what you pay for more times than not. He pays nothing and gets nothing. No shocker there. Teams that win the SB more times than now don't have trash for OLs. Since Seattle won theirs, it's been trash and it shows in struggling offenses year after year. If they get a somewhat good the GM never resigns them. "I'll just get anyone and its fine." It's his only weakness as a GM. But it's killing them.
