  • Follow a pilgrim through the historical landscape of St. Olavsleden, the northernmost pilgrim trail in the world, while learning about the legend of Olav Haraldsson and the history of the trail.
A trail where modern pilgrims walk in the footsteps of St. Olav, creating new stories and new relations along the way.
    ***
St. Olavsleden is approximately 580 kilometres long and extends from the Baltic Sea in the east to the Atlantic Ocean in the west, from Selånger in Sweden to Trondheim in Norway. It goes through large forests, over mountains, along lakes and past communities and historic sites. All in the footsteps of St. Olav.

I never heard of these pilgramages before until I seen one on UA-cam in 2019 while I was at home recovering from cancer treatments. It was about the Camino Frances. I was intrigued, so I decided I wanted to do this 800km pilgrimage, which hopefully I can accomplish within the next year. On Ivars Camino forum which helps prepare you for your camino hike someone mentioned this pilgrimage and there desire to walk it. I live in Canada and my grandfather immigrated from Sweden in the 1920's or 1930's and his sister stayed in Sweden. Having never been to Sweden, I now have a keen desire to walk this route now and visit my relatives in Sweden that I have only met once while they were vacationing in Canada about 40 years ago. Being 64 years old I feel the time is right and this video was very informative.

Greetings from one of the pals at Ivars forum 😎 I myself am living in Sweden and are tempted to try S:t Olavsleden some day. But after my Camino Frances it will be hopefully the Primitivo this year in may and the Via de la Plata the year after ... if all goes according to plan.

Er det for sent å gå leden fra slutten av august? Fare for sne i september, tenker jeg på. Hilsen Lise
