      www.tqm.com.uy/archivos/pcchips/manuales/M560/M560V31.PDF
      The CPU external clock it supports is 66mhz, 75mhz and 83mhz, while the internal clock speed selector can only goes as high as 3.5X. Forget about 83mhz, which is too risky for PCI peripherals, if we select 75mhz*3.5=261mhz, roughly 26mhz, still can't go up to 300mhz........

      @Jimmy S Ding Ding Ding! Right O! As a tech I dreaded working on client's PCs with that darn PCChips TXpro and VX pro boards! Their Cheaposity would sometimes cause ME to be blamed for their PC not working anymore lol! They called me cause it was not working RIGHT, then I would fix the issue and Windows optimal settings and correct hardware drivers,etc would prove to be too much for these boards sometimes. The CPU/RAM/FSB settings issue was one such FIX that caused a blow to the system, as alot of those PC CHIPS boards also suffered the dreaded Leaky bulging capocalipse. I am VERY surprised the system here did not perform an illegal operation after rebuilding it with the ram half in like that. AND Windows ME was very unstable product so even more surprised indeed!

    Nice restoration !
    I found some useful informations for your PC :
    The motherboard is a PCChips M575. (Shady motherboard manufacturer, but as long it works, it should be allright). The "TXpro" chipset is actually and ALi M1531 (Aladdin IV+) so if you need drivers for it, look for that instead. You should be able to enable USB somehow, maybe you need some driver for that or you have to enable then in the BIOS.
    Also check for that number, you should find some website named "elhvb" where they let you download an archive containing the latest bios, some drivers and jumper settings for CPUs ! They even show you what settings to use with a K6-2 300, so you can run it at its maximum speed :)
    Also, you might want to consider to downgrade to Windows 98SE : Windows ME has many disadvantages over Windows 98. Windows ME's DOS is really really bad to run old games (almost as bad as windows xp's) while 98's is pretty much the best version of DOS. Also 98 can do pretty much all what ME can do (though you have to install everything it lacks yourself while it's packed in the install disc for ME).
    Last but not least, if you plan to play DOS games, I recommend you to install a different sound card that the one integrated on the mobo. Brands like Yamaha (ISA or PCI), Creative Labs (ISA only) or ESS (ISA or PCI) should do the trick very nicely :)
    Other than this, the bend on the board looks very bad, I'm surprised it's still working, hopefully you can fully get rid of it ...

    • @xaenon
      @xaenon 5 років тому +3

      It would indeed. That motherboard was essentially a 'sleeper' type mod in its day. It was designed specifically as an upgrade path for those still putting along with AT-type Socket 7 rigs. By swapping this into your AT box, you could keep most of your Socket 7 hardware and get the upgrade path of Super-7 chips from AMD and Cyrix. Where Intel stopped with 233 Mhz Pentiums, Super 7 chips were running much faster! Notice when he's pulling the mobo out of the case - he mentions the two different types of RAM slots, but doesn't notice that the board has both AT and ATX power connectors. Yes, it could work with either type.
