eebrozgi It's even weirder since this could possibly be done on the old SMS's FM chip. Iirc VRC7's soundchip is basically a stripped-down YM2413/OPLL chip.
@@ERROR24016 The SNES can ALMOST emulate Genesis music - it unfortunately can only get so close owing to the fact that its sound chip natively operates at a lower sample rate than the Genesis, not to mention the fact the Genesis doesn't need as much memory as the SNES to produce higher fidelity audio.
@@johnrickard8512 But Genesis on the other hand can't nearly emulate that good the SNES with a higher color count, higher definition audio, more controls and crazy effects.
FM Synthesis, thats why, the VRC7 is a sound chip that was only used in 1 Famicom game and outside of japan, called Lagrange Point, its a cost reduced version of the YM2413, which is the sound chip that you could use as an add-on for the Sega Master System
The VRC7 soundchip is actually very close to what was used in the Genesis. Take this chip, update it twice, and you have what the Genesis used. The VRC7 was only used in one Famicom game to my knowledge though (Lagrange Point) so it's not very well known outside of chiptune enthusiasts.
VRC7 is very far off from what the Genesis uses. 2 less operators (and both operators have less options for sounds), no DAC, no Channel 3 extension, no SSG-EG, less algorithms... there's some stuff I'm sure I'm missing.
Actually one thing the YM2612 is worse at is operator waveforms as it can only use sine waves, whereas the YM2151 (or the VRC7 version) has sine and rectified sine available.
I can hear car horns.

Liking that Master System/Game Gear influence in the intro. Your arrangements have some nice personality injected to them.

In this case:
Nintendo CAN do what Sega does.
I agree.
Even SNES can emulate genesis music almost perfectly, there's a video that shows it doing just that.

Actually Konami for its VRC7 chip.

This is... eerily similar to the original. In that case, nicely done.

Great conversion!!! Its almost exactly like the original.
Kicks the nostalgia harder than a foot to the nuts. Great job!
that..hurts
but yeah
Holy Shit, the NES souunds very genesis.

+troyb8878 actually, your missing a DAC, special channel 3, and CMS mode, and I think VRC7 doesn't have stereo. Not too sure tho

Last time I checked, the VRC7 only has sine waves since it's an OPLL/2413 derivative.
One of my favorite recreations of this song. And I have a playlist filled with thousands of them, congrats :0
Sounds pretty close. Good job! :)
Thank you!
a damn near perfect remix. you are the best around vinylcheese
Wow, this could never have sounded better! Very accurate!

Hi!! I'm impressed with this work. How did you add the stereo thing?
It would be nice if you would move the 'www.Bandicam.com' to a different part of the screen so that we can see the DPCM work.
well it’s a good thing i don’t use bandicam anymore
VinylCheese Oh, so they just put the logo on wherever they felt like it? I'm not saying it's a bad idea, it's just that it is kinda in the way.
it’s a “trial version” watermark, i’ve since moved to using OBS, which doesn’t have any watermark
midi trumpets farting converted to dangling chimes. good job.
Sonic pc engine music
This should be in Sonic 1 for Famicom if it supports VRC7
The nes has fm synth?
If Japan had a real Sonic Famicom port... (There's no way America would get access to this chip so the can put it inside the cartridge)
The start sounds like kazoo
Muito bom
You were so close...
i love listening to downported music
wHAT
What IS VRC7 though?
Well... It's a Konami mapper chip that uses a modified version of the Yamaha YM2413 audio, used only in the game Lagrange Point for Famicom.
