I've been sewing since 1957 and never once did it enter my mind that I could do anything with sweaters! I have altered one or two now, and it's so much fun. I really like the way you give teaching style instructions. I love sewing, but there is a special place in my heart for upcycling from thrift store finds.

I love the twin needle effect!! Thank you for showing that. I was holding my breath to see how you pivot with two needles. Lovely tunic style sweater, a nice layering piece. You are so calm when sewing. Mine usually requires more swearing.

I just did a sweater up cycling that was inspired by your videos.
I have a cozy solid color pullover that the sleeves were too short. I found a skein of multicolored yarn at the thrift store (for fifty cents!) that had the sweater color. After removing the narrow knit cuff, I crocheted new longer cuffs. I then steeked the sweater and made it a cardigan and added a crocheted band. Since I still had some yarn left I made a patch pocket to tie it all together. I love it.

Catherine, I've been sewing since long before you were born but I enjoy watching each and every one of your videos. Anyone would be fortunate to have you teach them about textiles and sewing. You have a way of making it seem so achievable. FYI - Nick of Time Textiles is a great source for sweater knit fabric.

I notice that I’m buying fewer patterns and fabric because what you have taught us is sinking in. Making a drawstring back pack out of a old windbreaker. Wish me luck :-)

That is so cute!!! And, if you don't want to wear a shirt under, there is a bra by Lunaire that gives the look of a lace camisole, having a panel across between the cups. They come in a pale blue that would be awesome under your sweater. There is a vanilla color but I think that wouldn't be so good with the white. I knit and yes it's scary to cut them! LOL. Thanks for the boost. OOPS I didn't realize I had left another comment!

I so wish that I had your confidence. I have only a low-end serger (overlocker in the UK ), that I haven’t really mastered. I should find it helpful if you would detail your serger settings when you use it. e.g. single or double needles, tension settings, stitch length and width, differential feed etc. Particularly tensions, which are the bane of my life. I have just bitten the bullet and reduced the size of a lightweight low V neck knit by making a seam centre back and front and I’m very pleased with the results. Thank you.
I can rarely find anything “off the peg” to fit me but it’s often possible to find quality items that need altering in charity shops. If I’ve paid less than £10 for something I’m not so wary about altering it unlike new things costing 4 or more times that.
