It’s always a pleasure seeing the process of a fellow spoon carver. I’ve got two spoons of yours from a few years ago still going strong. The more I watch your videos the more I think I may need a few more soon....
Nice job Nathan. You definitely have the skills. Great start to finish video. I'm going to use this one as a guide as I try to carve my first spoon. Thanks for posting!
Thoroughly enjoyed the video!! It is very evident that you are a very skilled carver! The way you carver is so beautiful and in rhythm!! I am definitely looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
Love the video! I feel like this is the best type of instructional video because the meditative nature of it allows me to just focus on the prices! Beautiful work!
Thank you for this video. Can I ask what kind of wood you use for your spoons? I'm a total beginner and have tried with green Birch wood, but it is too fibrous and my knives, not being sharp enough, struggle a lot both in roughing and in the detail work. Thank you in advance and please continue to produce beautiful videos like this
Great video! I’m just getting into carving and having a hard time with using the outdoor hatchet I use while backpacking. May I ask what kind you’re using or maybe what kind that similar to look for in a new one? Is that what’s called a “bearded hatchet”? Thank you
This is the Gransfors Bruks Swedish Carving Axe. When I started carving I used a husqvarna hatchet that I found on Amazon which worked well. As long as it's sharp, it will work, but having the larger blade definitely helps.
Another spoon carver here. Love watching the way other spooners do their thing. Thumbs up Bro.

HuronSpoonCo Thanks! Interested in a trade? Let’s work something out, maybe mid December?
Nathan Bour absolutely. Think you’ll have any of those beautiful Sumac eaters lying around by then?
HuronSpoonCo Definitely. I’ll save one for you. I’ll get back to you on IG.

I love your knife with the long handle that can be braced against the leg. How long is the blade?
You have good skills!
if you don't mind, what is the wet stone you use for your knife sharpening?
