My best days on the railways were on the XC 47's. Miss them a lot. Just not the same now. Absolute flying machines to,& 95mph was often surpassed to well over the ton!
    Great compilation video. 👍🏻

The one at 8:25 is Mark IIIs and a DVT - was a 47 hauling a rake like this common?

Yes it was,not sure whether it was Friday's only ,I am sure people in the know will have more info, but I filmed this formation a week later on the penultimate Friday of 47 diagrams at Bristol Parkway.
      Regards
      Brian

+MKT Transport Video I think only the 47/7's were equipped for push/pull working so I don't think it would've worked in both directions without the loco changing ends. It is a very interesting formation though - i've definitely never seen a 47 with Mk3's and a DVT before.

It was a paignton service if memory serves me right. It ran weekdays and weekends. Not sure where it originated from though.

It's a West Coast set. Occasionally Longsight would allox a VWC on XC services, mainly at weekends. I've had a fair few in the past.

@@ricjuk Correct, the 47/8's had to run round the VWC mk3 sets.
