At the hawker center, best known for seafood steamboat, Chinese wedding style whole deep fried chicken w/prawn crackers and har chor is very good too. Try calling this mobile 90695505 if they didn't change their now.
Another winner Puggy! 😋😋Awesome looking banh jiang kueh, it’s a perfect batter as you get big chunks of soft fluffy goodness with the crunch. Did you know that the red/orange sugar that hawkers use for banh jiang kueh, apom balik, putu mayam (mayong), kueh tutu, huat kueh, etc. actually is made by this one company in Singapore only - Cheng Yew Heng candy factory, since 1947. Too bad, I could not buy it from the U.S., bummmmmeeerrr! Love that chai tau kueh always, great attitude too. Enjoy watching the noodle stall too with so many varieties of noodles to choose from, wow! You know during the days when I live in Singapore, there were mostly wet markets and when they started the transition to hawker centers, I lost track of all my favorite hawkers who used to operate along the street side. It was traumatic and I only ended up eating hawker food where I live and close to where I work. So, I really missed out a lot on these great hawker food. Glad you came along to feature all these new and existing hawker centers, in fact most of them I have never heard of nor visited, to bring hawker food back to life and all the good memories back. Thanks Puggy, appreciate your efforts….👍👏😁🤣😂
You left for the US in the 70s?! That’s a super long time ago 🤭 I hope you’re cooking your own Singaporean favourites there 😅 now there’s even instant laksa and Bak Kut Teh and chicken rice 🍚 some friend of mine opened Killiney at Palo Alto CA. Are you living in CA?
@@Piggypuggy I left for the U.S. in the mid-80's and have been living in CA ever since. So yes, I missed out on a lot of good hawker food, especially when Singapore now have more contemporary hawker centers but still retain the same delicious hawker goodness. Yes, I have to make my own Singapore favorites and it is harder especially when I have to do it vegetarian style and not having those hawker tools/ equipment. I can now make chwee kueh, laksa, mee goreng, mee siam, poh piah, chai tau kueh, chee cheong fun, tau you bak, etc. all without meat nor seafood, including some nonya kuehs, tau suan, bo bo char char, pulut hitam.... We can get gula melaka/gula jawa here but not that red/orange sugar though, bummer. No I cannot buy those instant packaging foods because they have either meat or shrimp, no vegetarian offerings. We do have some Singapore/ Malaysian style restaurants here but they do not last. Now with the pandemic, they all went belly up. The one you mentioned in Palo Alto unfortunately is not up to par. Pricing is steep because it is at silicon valley, similar to the pricing you featured in one of your videos at Marina Bay Sands but in US$. A lot of them do not do justice to promote or publicize Singapore food here as they cannot do it right unfortunately. Only Singaporeans like us know the real deal in terms of quality. I have to make my own if I want to eat Singapore type food. So now you know, watching your videos bring a lot of memories and also new ones to see how these Singapore hawkers have evolved. Okay that's it, it is cold, rainy and wet and I'm in lockdown going to start to look at flights to Singapore for early next year I'm going into severe street food withdrawal.
The Singapore 🇸🇬 Govt should figure out how to freeze dry these hawker food and have them express delivered world wide to warm the hearts and souls everywhere 😂
my fav noodles actually depends on whether i dabao or not. If I dabao, mee pok and if eating on the spot, mee kia simply because Mee pok wont be as soggy if i walk fast enuff =p
How to get rid of your annoying captions. Its full of rubbish saying etc. The video is great but I really wish you can put captions for important stuff and not your opinion on whether you should use red shoes or blue shoes for example. Who cares right.
