    The Coloured people are indigenous to South Africa...the racial mix started when the portugese sailors and other european, african visited on their way to India, Indonesia etc..thats why they are named Coloured, because of these foreigners that Mixed with the Koi-San that lived along the South-African coast...

    The immigrants from Indonesia, Malaysia, mixed with the indigenous koi-san, and the government named this group Cape Coloured, Cape Malay...the Indians mostly settled in the Natal area..

      Des Devi, i used the original name...i appreciate that you show the country to the world, but i noticed that not much info is given about the coloured and indian people, whether on UA-cam or a TV documentary. Thank for your efforts..

      @@bernicegerspacher8902 Thanks Bernice for acknowledging my effort. You are correct, in many youtube videos about Bokaap ,they have shown the houses but not giving any insight about it and this is where i tried to make a difference by giving some insight about it based on my limited knowledge although I am not a historian rather a tourist but tried to get some insight about it and explained it .

    Thanks for pointing out the different colors of the houses lo..It's odd that you don't see people out, is it because its hot and they dont come our til evening or is it too dangerous, what's the story?

    • @RoamingDevi
      @RoamingDevi  3 роки тому

      Hi Andrea..I deliberately choose lanes where iI will not bring people into my videos and but if you go to the main lane where i started pointing the starting point is where many tourist and people are there ..People are very very friendly and helpful but as usual you need to be watchful be with company and go in the day time. If you watch my part 2 video you can see i have spend my time with one of the locals and shown their old house in the video .So its place you must visit if you are in Cape Town .Watch part 2 you will get more details. Thanks.

      Thanks..I have done the research well before I did this video..Infact in this the people are shown are known to me those days .even if you type is bokaap is a community in Google ..you will find the answer in the Google that it says Bokaap community as one of the oldest community..I have provided a high level view being a tourist..but yes there are lots of aspect which I didn't cover else the video could have been 2 hours..you can check my ramadaan video on Bo kaap..thanks

    Great video! Very informative but as a registered TG it disappoints me that the facts are distorted and conveyed incorrectly. Lots of Italians occupied Bo-Kaap too. Chappini street is named after an Italian dr. I beg TG's to do through research before telling the story. India influence is definitely present it could be possibly contributed to the architecture style by Sir Herbert Baker. "The Spice Route". Please do not forget the Indigenous people of South Africa, The Khoisan. I cant agree with you more, India is one of the most beautiful countries I've visited.

Being me as tourist I just tried to provided limited information whatever I have received ..But you have provided much details .Ii will be more thankful if you can provide me some places of Cape Town which is very heritage and interesting to capture through my channel to brings its history and diversification to the world . SA already taken a great place in my heart and so also people . I am blessed that i spent good amount of time here but regret that i captured the beauty too late in my lens. I have also covered San paintings at Cederberg.You can have a look and provided much details about it based on my research.
