Also they didnt try and kill Mike the whole time that she called them her friends and even when they did turn more murderous towards near the end it was revealed it was because they were being manipulated, Scott even said he wanted to make sure the kids were still seen as, well, CHILDREN. When Abby shows them the truth they immediately switch up and dont attempt to harm Mike anymore, instead directing their anger towards the right person, so ofc she still likes them I dont know how the hell you got that she was an annoying kid that cared only for herself or something, I beg of you to rewatch the movie
He made her help him with his murder gig, gave her the toys from the kids he killed as trophies, the novel says shes beyond messed up from her childhood, he strangeled her and stabbed her with no hesitation when she finally decided to go against him after years of fearful compliance, he is not a good dad, far from it- That look in his eyes feels more like hes mourning his failure more than his daughter. In that moment he lost his easy access to police records and coverups, lost the child he molded to be a perfect accomplice for his crimes. In that moment, hes probably more upset about his failed attempt to create the perfect sidekick for his deeds lol Not to mention how quickly he gets over it, just letting her drop to the floor and immediately turning his attention back to Abby, not caring about his daughter who he just stabbed and left bleeding out lol, if he really cared he wouldve made her his priority, not killing some kid
