I solo queued out of diamond and it is a good feeling, I suggest not getting boosted and continue to play with your champ friend and learn how to play the 1v3 game. Most of the time it is your teammates fault but just try to pick up the slack. :)
Ray is awesome. I was actually so hyped when he did the wave dash after dodging the demo. This guy has to be an old school gamer from way before right? Atari, SEGA, that good ol' stuff. No way a non-gamer would be picking this up as fast. He's so good already compared to the first episode.
He's half flipping by utilizing the rear corner flip cancel. It's not as straight landing without practice. I prefer the air roll method. But lower players use that one because it's less buttons
@@xClownXD____ the air roll method uses a straight backflip into a flip cancel (moving the stick from point straight down, to straight up) so that your car stops with your wheels facing straight up and then using your air roll right or left button to spin your car so the wheels are facing downwards. Would love these coaching vids to be 20-30 minutes long, the longer the video the higher the feeling of actually being there and spectate in a coaching session.
Love this series!! Me and ray have a lot in common. I’m a dad that plays rocket league with my son who is a lot higher level than me. I’m currently hanging around gold and hope through your tips I can work and level up and hopefully be able to compete on my sons level!
No offense, but from this comment I don't think you're c1 or higher, I have spent nearly as much time in champ as I have all the other ranks combined, once you get to D3 ranking up even 1 rank becomes significantly more difficult, the difference between a plat 2 and a plat 3 is almost nothing, the difference between a champ 2 and a champ 3 is extreme
@@mxrt0 Having someone correct your every error and bad habit so you don't spend days/weeks/months doing the wrong thing and just in a state of constant improvement probably leads to extremely accelerated learning. The flawless mechanics will not be there but smart play with strong basic skills might be enough. Also, with the wife on board he just might have enough time ;)
@@Masamune66 it might be, but I'm not seeing those basic mechanics in Ray. To me it seems like he isn't confident in anything he does (except shooting). What I'm saying is that CBell is going to have to reinforce his mechanics fairly dramatically, especially considering that they aren't up to par with the ranks he is playing against right now.
@@andrewsmitley funny enough Champ 1 & 2 are a lot easier than D3, then C3 being hell. Idk what it is but Champ 1 & 2 is a joke and arguably worst than D3 🤣
im convinced ray is actually a pro whos just messing with us by pretending to be bad at the game but seriously though, his rate of improvement is insane
He's half flipping via the "diagonal flip cancel" method. It's easier to learn. When you backflip slightly off center (10 degrees away from perfectly back or so) and then hold up, it actually will do the rotational part for you and you don't need to air roll. It's kind of like the opposite of a speedflip.
I do this all the time while practicing my half flip. The only trouble with it is that it isn't a perfect backwards. You always end up pointed in one direction or another.
for the first half of the game you played with him I thought we were spectating him for some reason, and I was shocked because I thought he really just got goated out of nowhere lmao
He is already GC, he's just pretending not to be for this video series. Don't get discouraged by what you see on the internet or social media. Most of it is fake.
If you backflip by canceling to the corner you don't need to air roll, it will turn on its own. Can be tougher to master though because it doesn't always land straight.

If you diagonal flip and flip cancel it half flips on its own, if you flip backwards straight and flip cancel you land on your cars top if you don't air roll

He’s improving so fast… I kinda get hard stuck on like every rank and slowly just manage to get out but he’s just flying through which is insane to me :O
As a plat, this guy is FLYING through plat, I have been play for the past couple seasons and have been wanting to rank up into diamond, and I now know why. It's not about mechanics or having the ball 99% of the time, it's about playing smart, which I need a lot of help with. I also don't have any dedicated teammates, so I just solo queue and I don't recommend it. If I could have a good tm8 that I could play with consistently I feel they would help a lot.

Hey there, I've been watching these series and I enjoy it alot. I'm experienced coach myself and have been in the RL Community for awhile, just now seeing Ray dodging a bump and wave dashing after 30 minutes of a coaching session gave me chills, you totally selected the right person for this challenge, best of luck Ray🙏
I've been enjoying this series and after learning wavedashes and half flips kinda i went from gold 1 in 2s to plat 1 despite only being silver 3 in 3s, this advice helped a lot
I would defiantly watch a longer video. Even if it was like 15-20 min I'd watch the whole thing because it's so entertaining. Super glad you're able to do something like this.
I love this series like its exiting to see how a player that gets coached everyday possible going from gold2 to d1. I CANNOT WAIT FOR NEXT EPISODE AND THE PROGRESSION MONTAGEEE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is kinda funny, bc im doing basically the same thing here and im plat 2 in duos. i started playing with my friends who are champ 2 and honestly i got a lot better in duos since they taught me a lot about rotations and a lot more. And bc of that im now doing a lot better and know what to work on, and aerial is something i need to work on since in a champ game there are barely any ground games and mostly people flying in the air hitting balls. And i think it’s better to work on aerial now anyways since diamond is where mechanics are required to rank up, and im learning a lot from this series already so thx cbell! Edit: yes i want longer vids, this is incredible series
I really enjoy these learning vids; Ray is a player and we’re both the same rank, you’re an awesome mentor, and I’m trying all I can to use your Gold to GC vids to improve myself. Thanks!
This video series is so heartwarming, best of luck to Ray I can't think of a more suitable candidate for this fantastic opportunity!! I absolutely love these
THIS SERIES IS SOOOO FUNNN good job ray, and I think for the half flip he held down reverse and reverse is also airrolls so I think not holding down reverse will help with the flip cancel.
Loving this series. I'm alot like Ray in an older guy just loving the game.. Except my kid is 6 and can't beat the bots yet 😂. I'm cheering for you Ray. Great job CBell!
these have been the best videos of your channel, not only because of the story and the improvement of ray, but also for it's educational and informative sections. keep it up CBell ^^
Definitely enjoying this content, especially as it applies to my own gameplay. There are things you are bringing up which I considered to be less important than overall speed and accuracy of shots, which made me take a step back and realize that I have a lot to learn with Ray!
Yes longer videos. I would honestly watch a 25 min video of this. U gotta be happy you don't have to come up with new ideas every week for videos. Love this playlist of videos.
Important notes!! Cbell few things I noticed, and you should address those if you want Ray to improve faster and better. 1. Since he is playing on controller he needs to find perfect settings for himself. He needs to experiment with lower deadzone 0.05-0.12 and higher sensitivity and figure out what combination suits him, this will take weeks, depends also on what controller he is using. For me I have to adjust those when I switch from one account to another, since even with same settings car control is different and this affects, half flips, flicks, turning, air mechanics. 2. Camera - I think his camera is too narrow or too close. So check this with him. 3. Air Roll - First he needs to learn normal air roll, then air rolling upside down, for shots accuracy, recoveries, recoveries from wall, air dribbles, speed flips, proper kickoff etc. He doesn't need directional atm., it's overkill. If he wants to learn it after he masters normal, good. But this is far more important. Every day 15 min just flying around and hovering in freeplay will improve his air roll mechanics significantly in 2 weeks. Before he goes for air dribbles spinning and all that, he should be able to consistently fly around without problems normally oriented and in reverse, without complete blackout moments. Also since we are talking about air mechanics, he is using car cam on air dribble attempts, instead ball cam. p.s You can do half flip without using air roll at all. That is how he did it. Try it, just pull stick more diagonal. Reason why he is struggling with flip cancel is due to his deadzone and sensitivity. When he changes that, everything will be easier, flicks especially. I know since I had same problem, no matter how fast I pull stick it will cancel once in 20 attempts. Cheers!
This video series is great. I would love to see some replay analysis in more depth on one of the videos with Ray. To see how the skills learned with coaching translate to games without a coach in his ear.
Game Sense + Mechanics = Utility, Game Sense provides the understanding necessary not to needless perform a mechanic just because you can use them. Meaningful touches > looking good

I've been enjoying this series and after learning wavedashes and half flips kinda i went from gold 1 in 2s to plat 1 despite only being silver 3 in 3s, this advice helped a lot
Longer videos yes! I like to sit down and really absorb what I'm watching. Loving this series so far! Will definitely hit GC by Christmas! Go Ray go!
I would defiantly watch a longer video. Even if it was like 15-20 min I'd watch the whole thing because it's so entertaining. Super glad you're able to do something like this.
i was so sad whenever you stopped posting for a while and now im am actually glad that your posting this series again
Go Ray!!! GC in the making. love how the training sessions are going, keep it up and Ray will be in GC before he even knows it.
This hands down has to be my favorite series I've ever watched
I love this series like its exiting to see how a player that gets coached everyday possible going from gold2 to d1. I CANNOT WAIT FOR NEXT EPISODE AND THE PROGRESSION MONTAGEEE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’m a diamond and feel like I should be a play before this. Can’t wait to learn along
Watched this video and went from plat 1 to diamond 3. Very valuable.
Just implemented more fake challenges into my game and went from a hardtack c1 to a climbing c2 almost going a full rank. Great video cBell!
Ray is a legend bro, the man learns in 20 minutes what a lot of people take weeks to learn LOL
I really enjoy these learning vids; Ray is a player and we’re both the same rank, you’re an awesome mentor, and I’m trying all I can to use your Gold to GC vids to improve myself. Thanks!
I'd love 20min videos, maybe more of Ray's ranked gameplay if possible to see how he is applying the skills he is learning!
This video series is so heartwarming, best of luck to Ray I can't think of a more suitable candidate for this fantastic opportunity!! I absolutely love these
Yes, we would absolutely LOVE longer vids!
Best series on UA-cam rn. Bring him to a rocket league tourney next year
I like the longer videos like this good job keep up the amazing work
The best series 🔥 let’s go Ray
THIS SERIES IS SOOOO FUNNN good job ray, and I think for the half flip he held down reverse and reverse is also airrolls so I think not holding down reverse will help with the flip cancel.
I'd love to see longer Ray videos! Really enjoying this series so far. Learning a lot :)
Been checking your channel every day for this upload. Love the series!
New favorite RL series, feels like I have my own personal coach too. Thanks Prof. CBell, got some homework to do, back to the lab!
we are very proud of ray and his improvement
I Love this series and I won’t lie
Loving this series. I'm alot like Ray in an older guy just loving the game.. Except my kid is 6 and can't beat the bots yet 😂.
I'm cheering for you Ray. Great job CBell!
Lol
i just cant say enough how much i like this series
these have been the best videos of your channel, not only because of the story and the improvement of ray, but also for it's educational and informative sections.
keep it up CBell ^^
ngl the best series on yt rn I love your work and ofc also you
Definitely enjoying this content, especially as it applies to my own gameplay. There are things you are bringing up which I considered to be less important than overall speed and accuracy of shots, which made me take a step back and realize that I have a lot to learn with Ray!
Ray is killing it. im rooting for him!
yes please cbell we need more longer videos of this series
Dudes a freaking genius he catches on so quick. He just needed someone to explain how to do things and when to do them
Yes longer videos. I would honestly watch a 25 min video of this. U gotta be happy you don't have to come up with new ideas every week for videos. Love this playlist of videos.
Honestly longer videos would be amazing I’m really digging this series
I love this series so much! Ray is such a fast learner, by this Christmas, ray would probably be able to beat an SSL! Keep up the hard work!
I'd be down for some longer videos, especially in this series!
Cheers!
thanks man! I'm taking in all the info I can during this and learning at the same time
@@CBellRL Glad to help
This video series is great. I would love to see some replay analysis in more depth on one of the videos with Ray. To see how the skills learned with coaching translate to games without a coach in his ear.
This is my favorite series on UA-cam.
Love this series so far! Definitely we want longer videos.
I’ve only just got to diamond after so long and ray is almost there already it’s so good to see him get better
Im gonna love it if Ray is like, Musty or Sunless trolling with Cbell xD
For now i love Ray's ability to learn so quickly
bro that 7:04 goal was actually really nice. Not super mechanichal or anything, but a good opportunity really well taken
Game Sense + Mechanics = Utility,
Game Sense provides the understanding necessary not to needless perform a mechanic just because you can use them. Meaningful touches > looking good
You're gonna grow so much from this series! I'm so glad you of all people started it first! Hit me up next week when he's playing champ players.
im so exited for this series i iwish i could just binge it its so cool 2 see ray get really good quickly
