- I was asked to take part in a live trading segment with CNBC Pro. I want to invite you to read a little insight. The show segment was taking place towards the end of the trading day. Earlier in the day I had shorted the Dow after the open on an American School Run Strategy (ASRS), but because I knew I had to be live later in the day, and trade, I decided to just run the positions, with a stop loss at breakeven. At one point I am 350 Dow point in profit, but I am not taking profit, because.... I am thinking I need to show a live trade or trades on CNBC later in the evening.
It was agonising because by the time the show segment went live, my hugely profitable positions were now all pretty much back to breakeven. And during the segment I am thinking.... "please come to me now so that I can actually take profit on air", and low and behold, they (CNBC) come to me last, and at that point all my trades are now flat :))))))).
Oh yes, so it goes, when you want to appear as the big dog on TV, and you end up being the little poodle.... :)))

Great stuff. I share same thinking. Add a small trade and test the markets if i am correct. Then add to it as it starts to trend in my direction. If the initial small trade is a loss.. then so be it. It's very small. Thank you Tom, your vids rock mate!
This book is recommended. This book has alot of good points anyone should know about. It's definitely a book that gives you HIGH value for the money. HIGH VALUE!

Agreed! I don't understand risk/ reward either... Let your winners run but have a profit target seems contradictory. I'm a bit too fixated on the risk side right now though.
And you should be risk is the only thing you can control.

Hello sir,I have one doubt when to add to the winning position since it increases stop loss. In my case whenever I add to winning position then market retrace back upto my initial position making my profit negative then later in some cases it bouce back higher..
that's why you don't just "add" when you're winning. if you are say in a bullish trend, you wait for the smaller bearish retraces to add to your long. if you happen to add to your long at some form of resistance you end up just compromising your position and making your stop vulnerable.

I read ALL comments but lag time to respond to all comments. And I give Tom updates if not daily then close to daily.

I owe you a debt of gratitude 🙏🏼 I see in other traders (fairly successful ones too) exactly what you mean by having to do what most won’t. They think I’m nuts that I don’t use “TA” “Targets” blah blah blah. When I add as they scale out, staying in a trade and let it eat they don’t understand. They convince themselves I’m a degenerate gambler. Until it keeps going… 😂
Love the book Tom. I have been able to fine tune my trading strategy. Adding to winners and letting runners run. Probably the best written material written by a trader concerning trading psychology. Jared Tendler writes well about the subject, but not like a trader. I related to the content. Thank you Tom.
