- Giza Alterwajn survived from the Holocaust with the help of Józef and Agnieszka Ślązak, Righteous Among the Nations, who hid her in their apartment in the suburbs of Warsaw during the German occupation. After the war, she emigrated from Poland. Giza’s reunion with Ślązak’s daughter, Danuta Gałkowa, took place after 64 years. We present her account from the oral history collection of POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
