Ok, If this film in seeing the video write up of this film Then Why Not Pull the ISO to either 80 or 64 to get the saturation, and then also the fine grain, Hey that is what we did when we were shooting another film from the past called Kodak Vericolor 160S since the film was not a true 160 but more of a 80 as back in 1970's to the late 1980's more portrait, and wedding photographers wanted the fine grain, and saturation in a Low Contrast film... So why not try that... There is no rule to Experiment Right? Or would rather shoot onto your SONY camera???? or iPhone???

Actually Pro Image was released late 90s with the name Profoto 100 . It was close enough to Kodak Gold with finer grain and more saturated colors. I usually shoot it at ISO 50 and the results are really good!
Last year used ProImage during my holiday in Madeira and was impressed with sharpness and color rendering for a reasonable price. I needed an ISO 100 color negative film. Many years ago there was Fuji Superia 100 ISO but that’s long gone.
This is my favourite colour film for winter photography. I find it to give me the best representation of the winter colours without being overly saturated or not saturated enough.
I'm from the Philippines and I believe we were one of the primary markets for this film as I haven't seen the film overseas. I first encountered Proimage maybe about 17 years ago. I remember these being sold for 6$ for a propack of 5 rolls or 1.2$ usd per roll, cheaper than Kodak Gold or Superia at the time; they were not available for purchase individually. They weren't available everywhere, but the big or professional shops had them. They were used by many of the budget minded professionals or the photogs who shot a lot but needed quality images, such as for school class pictures and senior portraits.
That was some perfect timing, I got a roll of ProImage as a gift, and did not know what to expect. I wasn't even sure, if I was going to take it onto my vacation trip next week. I guess I might. As a teeneger (about 30-40 years ago), I was a fan of the blasting Fuji colors of green and blue - but I guess I grew out of that a bit, so this seems to come in handy... If you wanna get some really nice results shoot and develop at iso 400. It boosts the saturation and makes colours look really nice, especially the greens. I prefer it at 400 than I do at box speed.
Yeah dude, you are rigth. I used it at box speed and u know, the results were nice, but when I used it at ASA 400, it was another film! If u still have a few rolls left, get used to shooting at 400 or 200!! Cheers from Argentina
Pro image is my go to cheap film, To my eye the colours look normal with no noticeable colour cast. Nice fine grain and I just find I enjoy its look and with the cheap price It's easy to enjoy shooting without the worry of making every shot count. I love Ectar but at twice the cost I have to have something specific in mind before I just go shooting.
Thank you for the review, just happened on Pro Image and was looking for a good review, which this is. 😀 A thought crossed my mind while watching this: has grain become less than the color negative films of the last mid-century? Going to dare to say, comparing Ektar to Pro Image, I like the softer feel and the grain of the latter. I have seen pictures exposed at EI of 50 and looks even better. Cheers, Adriel

I made an investment on 2 rolls of portra 400 on 35mm film and I needed a few more because my art teacher wanted me to do some film photography to compare with a digital as an art project, didn't want to waste my precious portra so I found this with good reviews and the pictures looked quite nice so I have a few rolls shipping with a few b/W films to use for said art project I just wanted an expert opinion on other films it's good to know that it's like ultramax because lots of my rolls are on that stock before I moved to Different kinds of filmstock

My local camera shop here in Canada has it in stock every once and awhile. I surprisingly like the look of the stock, and this is coming from a guy who never shoots Gold or UltraMax.
May or may not be a stupid question but I bought a roll of proimage 100 a month back and I've been keeping it in the fridge. I've only just found out that it's designed to be stored at room temperature, do you think storing it in the fridge as I have been doing will have any negative effects?
If you don’t mind me asking, do you think you could do a video on those Kodak instant cameras. I heard you can 3D print a housing that uses instax film. I was also wondering if you could take a look at old Kodak Bakelite cameras; they are very cheap and now a days they give some pretty interesting results. (It’s also pretty funny to blind people with the m3 bulbs) anyways great vid as always.
Haven't shot with it yet... but curious now. How well will handle macro photography? For example, the grain in Kodak 400 usually fails miserably for finer detail, even though it could render some interesting shoots from time to time and the speed is more suitable as well.
I tried it in the summer of '19 and did not like the results in sunlight. I think it went unnaturally brown and reminded me of my parents shots from Gran Canaria in the 70s. Also I think it blows highlights. I have much better results in overcast weather, so I'm actually contemplating shooting it at 200 in the sun.
Totally agrre with what you said on all counts, definitely stands out from others in it's price point and personally I love it and recommend it as you say a great walkaround film, sadly here in the U.K. that's a sunny period for around 4 weeks of the year :(

It was my first roll since it’s the cheapest one but I wasn’t impressed with its result: everything was very yellow. After seeing your result i might give it another try.
Been a photographer since 1990 and used film with all camera formats but was glad to see the arrival of digital, aware it seems to be 'hip' nowadays, (saw a guy in a coffee shop recently with his Hasselblad 500cm perched on the table), but people seem to forget the environmental impact of film processing. We used a chemical disposal company to collect and properly dispose of our waste but I'm guessing most people are just pouring theirs into the sink.
I like the loon of the Pro Image 100. But if I want use ut on holiday it is nit very versatile. ISO 100 is is good for sunny days. In shadows or overcast sky you can get problems to shoot out of if hand. Unfortunately 5her us onky a Pro100. A Pro 200 or 400 is missing.
God! In Hungary this film is twice more expensive than ColorPlus film. 🤷♂️ I think the stores try to make more money from it, because the film have ,,Pro" in the name... 🤦♂️

I'm a Canadian and amateur photographer and from looking at these kinds of low grade film and the portrait I rather just shoot Kodak portra film all the time but it's like $35 a roll in Canada ... it's funny how Fuji does know does know how to make 35 mm film , but they know how to make digital cameras that are desirable ? There’s something odd about Pro Image. Firstly the name, which is odd for something which is not a pro film. Then there is the fact that the box says ‘Kodak Professional’, and that it’s sold in boxes of five rolls, as the professional films are. On the other hand it can be stored at ambient temperature, even in warmer climates, which is typical for amateur films. It’s only been available quite recently here in the UK, where it is significantly more expensive than Gold, but significantly cheaper than Portra.
Man I got such different results than this. I wonder if Just had a bad roll or if I made some mistake scanning. The grain was way larger and over all way more muddy than what you got. I will have to try it again...
I’ve had similar experiences. I know one of the rolls I’ve shot had a developing issue by myself but for the rest I must just not be scanning it well for this type of film. Maybe I should try and treat it like people treat scanning ektar? 🤷🏼♂️
Lol, as usual amazon has pro image for 48 a box. Portra 160 for 58 a box. Might as well shell the 10 bucks and get a better film stock. I'll never understand kodak and their silly pricing.

This is interesting. When you rate it at ISO 50, you ask the lab to pull process by a stop, or do you just get it developed normally?

@@mostly_water Yeah under expose by 2 stops, and then push 2 stops when developing. It's a totally new film it, it looks amazing.

Haven't tried Pro Image yet. I actually like Fuji Superia Xtra. I find it's better to overexpose than underexposed with Fuji Superia.

I rarely shoot anything below 400 ISO, living in a not so sunny part of the world. Might give this a try anyway!

The lens on the Canon is just the FD 50mm F1.8!
