- Hi everyone! I wanted to make a English sub fro the song “Candy ball”
Fun fact!
It’s original name in Japanese: あめだま (Amedama)
is a play on words, cuz’ it can be read as amedame (candy ball)
(Which is another play on words cuz’ in Japanese “ame” means “candy” “あめ”)
But also means “rain” “雨” which the song is centered within the aesthetics
Of a rain storm so it’s a extra pun) but it can also be read as “めだま” (medama)
Which means “eyeball”
Btw, the translation may not be 100% correct but i tried my best and
I think it’s pretty solid. Even if it’s not the best out there it’ll still definitely
Give you a idea of what the song is about. Just take the translation

For the credits is because it says “うた: VY1” so i assumed it
Was “歌” (uta) which means “sing” but i’m not sure what “VY1”
Stands for? Maybe the voicebank their using??? I don’t know
By the way, in this song for the “poison rain” they use the kanji “毒”
Which is the kanji for “poison” but it seems more like acid to me
In the story. So it’s more of a acid rain than a poison one but it

At the end, when the poison rain came down and the world essentially ended, I got such an unknown feeling deep in my stomach. The fact you can be punished for not doing anything for something as small as a slug. All the people inevitability melting away from the rain and dying. And the line “we’ll never see the sun again” made me feel so weird. Life has ended, you’ll never see life again. All you know is pain.

Just a theory, when they refer to "the poison rain" they mean the black rain, during WW2 after an atomic bomb hit Japan, black rain started to fall, it contained extreme radioactive poison, which caused the forests to wither, buildings to ""melt"". The lyric, "Anyone who was exposed to the rain for 1000 hours got sick and died." Is self explanatory, people who was exposed to the black rain for too long got immensely sick died. Again, just a theory, if its true then that would be sick.

The singer wasn't reacting to bad things happening. They didn't tell the other person bout the eye, they let the kids bully the creature (idr what it was) so god send a poisonus rain to punish ppl. Fun fact: あめだま means candy ball but あ、めだま means oh, eyeball (めだま＝目玉＝eyeball)
The really smart thing about this song is that you can interpret "あめだま" as both candy ball or eye ball which makes this song even creepier when the girl said "amedama kana" in the lyrics.
