Suffering, anxiety, shame, all of these social emotions are perceived attacks of the self/ego; but the self is in itself, a pattern of thoughts developed through social conditioning. You can alleviate these symptoms through more thinking but it's really hard to do. Meditation or mindfulness in general is the practice of realizing that those thoughts are not you and are no different than the wind you feel on your skin. It's the exercise of pausing and asking yourself, "Who is doing the thinking?" And in that exercise, you may be frustrated or confused that you can't find them; and that is the grand insight. There is no thinker; there is no self doing the thinking. There is only awareness of experience. You can choose to identify with those thoughts or you can realize that thoughts, sights, sounds, feelings, smells, etc are all simply the the contents of consciousness itself; In our society it is useful to still have an ego, otherwise you can can't connect with people; but YOU should decide on what thoughts and external stimuli get incorporated into the self. You are consciousness, not the things that arise in consciousness; and remembering that allows you the freedom to clear your consciousness of distracting thoughts and really focus on the things YOU want to. It's like being able to remove all of the furniture in your house so that when thieves come, there is nothing for them to take. P.S. I love you Jeffy lol! I am a long time fan and love your desire to be a life-long learner, and your incredible dedication as a teacher. I'm struggling to get a good hold on this idea. Say for example you were a murderer. The thoughts in your head tell you that you are a murderer but you, recognising that the thoughts in your head are not "you", decide not to identify with them. The fact remains that you did kill someone and are therefore still a murderer, whether you choose to identify as one or not. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on this. Thank you.

The label of “murderer” is a conceptual thought that only exists in collective consciousness of human beings. In nature, there is no such thing. Nature is devoid of ethics and morals. These are thoughts and concepts that originated from individual humans that have spread throughout the minds of individuals in the society, thus creating this collective thought that we as a civilization hold each other accountable to. In your example, yes the murder is able to break free from the social guilt of “murder” by recognizing this fact and forgive themselves; and in that forgiveness, they could choose to kill more, guilt free. I’m not placing a value judgment on this, this is simply a possibility. They could also break free from the thoughts telling them to kill more and choose to do right by their fellow man. Like with any tool, it can be used for great good or great evil, but choice is what makes the difference. The goal is to make your thoughts work FOR you and not against you. But once you are free, it’s up to the individual to choose whether to point towards love and progress or hate and suffering. I hope that makes sense. Taking total personal responsibility for everything is risky business, not for everybody. Past a point it becomes victim-blaming. For some ppl it is not "attitude that will make all the difference", because they've been so severely beaten-down and fucked over.

Yes, it seems very likely that Satan is going to attempt to explain away the rapture by talking about aliens. He will do anything to hide the reality of the Bible and Jesus Christ the Lord. That's why the governments have been releasing all this info about UFOs and aliens - to prepare the world for the great deception that 'people were abducted by aliens' or something to that effect, to explain away the rapture in non-biblical terms. Satan is very good at his job, and many will believe it sadly. We are living in the end times, but the great tribulation has not yet begun in earnest. It will be more terrible than anything you can imagine. Speak with Jesus Christ now and ask him for forgiveness of sins, and that he takes your soul into his care. Say this a single time out loud and with a sincere heart, and you are saved. Things are about to get openly supernatural. If you are not taken in the rapture, sadly, you will witness this with your own eyes, and it will be brutal. Hope you make the choice to come to Jesus and spare yourself the immense suffering which is about to come, which will try all those who dwell upon the Earth.
