  • Just thought I'd do something different with this week's clip and instead of cut this session up into a short few waves I'd let you experience the whole thing as I did. It's always a nice calming experience for me to surf on my own at home and it's something I'm looking forward to doing a lot more this year.

It's hard to put into words how much this video appeals to me as a surfer. It shows a lot of the actual surf experience. The conditions, the wait between sets, picking which wave, positioning, paddle paddle paddle, a outright magic moment with dolphins, the banality, getting into a wave then pulling out because it closed out, the hidden patterns of incoming waves, then the randomness too. All these things about surfing that don't get shown in the videos and clips of epic conditions and soundtracks and interviews. Really well done Kale. I thank you.

I love sessions where it looks too small or not on the bank enough but you go for a paddle anyway. Then turns into a super fun session 😊

One of my most memorable sessions was like this, small fun waves, dolphins, crouched down I could get inside glass barrels with the setting sun shining through, whole barrel was a golden tube. Magic afternoon

This video makes me so happy. No acting whacky, no sponsors, no people. Just the thought of having small fun waves to the head would be so great! Not a reality in California but thanks for sharing.

This could be the most mentally soothing video that I've ever watched. One dude, little right hand nuggets, nobody out but him. Just surfing , taking your mind off whatever clutters it on a daily basis. Pure bliss. Thank you :)

Love this type of content. As somebody still learning, I like watching the paddle in and positioning for waves. Without the edits, I get to actually watch all of this valuable technique. Keep these type of vids in rotation please!

I would love this type of video with voice over of anything at all. Maybe even just talking through what you might have been thinking during each moment - like I would’ve loved to have heard when you first discovered the dolphins. The camera mic doesn’t do the deep roar of the ocean justice, so it’s a little painful to listen to. But the video itself is perfect!

Love this natural unedited video! Soothing to watch, and seeing you stumble as you came ashore keeps it real and reminds me that surfing isn't about looking cool, but having a little fun in the sea as we make our way through this brief and wonderful life.

Kale, I’ve been watching your videos for a couple years now, and I appreciate all the good content you produce for us. I started surfing 2 1/2 years ago and that was one of the smartest things I’ve done in my life, aside from getting married, and kids, and all that, of course. It’s just one of the best things I’ve ever done for my health and mental state, I mean. Keep up the good work.

I used to drive 2 hours to get to Rincon from the high desert in California. It was late spring / summer so not the best swell. Guys coming up from the beach along the trail would laugh and say "don't bother - nothing there". I'd always say "well I'll get in a paddling workout anyway". I was never disappointed as there was always something rideable coming through & suddenly there were half a dozen "friends" with me LOL! Great times! Never miss an opportunity to get in the water! Stay Stoked!

Nearly 20 years ago, in my mid 30s, I had just one surf lesson at Red Gate in WA. I live in central Oz so there is a bit of a problem with getting wave time. However, in March 2025 we'll be touring the western Eyre Penisula and then over to the southern WA so I reckon I just may give surfing another go. Waves like this with a sandy bottom would be nifty.

While watching this, I’m daydreaming that Brock is actually me, surfing a freak sand bar at the far south end of Dorn Park in Bodega Bay (i’d probably be wearing a hoodie though). Hear me out, I’m there to golf but I keep seeing this peak roll in and decide to surf instead. The harbor opening is at the right corner top of screen. Bodega Head is opposite the camera… one can dream, right?
