I’m from New Jersey and I’m super quiet? I also live in Japan now. Perhaps the only instance where I actually make noise where I shouldn’t are the movie theaters. And only because I laugh a little out loud.

I am from Norway and we have simmilar public transport etiquette. Its so easy to tell when there are American tourists on the same bus/train, 😅 you can talk with inside voices you dont need to yell.

This is Seoul. I think they said the station was Incheon? Plus the map color looked like the Seoul subway system.
Also at 0.29 the notice on the display is in Korean. Final clue, Japan is still mostly closed to tourist, unless you're related to someone in Japan as of May 2022.

Just wondering why everybody compares it to Japan ? Aren't they in South Korea ? Also yes Asian culture differs a lot from western culture etc but South Korea is A LOT different than Japan. Same for China, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, ... They also have their own differences between each other.
South Korea and Japan get comparisons more than other Asian countries because they're both western puppets.
Even in Japan, the locals might glance at you for speaking loudly, but they'll go back to zoning out or looking at their phone within seconds. You would have to be Logan Paul levels of belligerent for someone to call you out or care.

I'm not sure about it but I think its covid-related, I live in the Philippines and during the height of the pandemic, they didn't allow us to talk in trains to avoid spreading covid, but now they already loosened this restriction, I don't know if its similar to Korea or if they are still doing it. I might be wrong tho

However, in Japan, tipping is mostly considered rude due to a difference in values. They tend to place great value in the dignity of the service over money.
