This Amanda really makes me mad. My daughter's best friend was 2 months pregnant last year when she found out she had throat cancer. She had to carry her son while actually getting treatment. She delivered a beautiful baby boy and then lost all her hair. Her throat was swollen and her appearance changed dramatically. I saw her suffering. She never had a fundraiser. She never asked for money. She worked while pregnant with cancer!!!. Family and friends made meals and gave her a baby shower and thats all she would accept. She's doing well so far and her baby is fine that we know of. So this story angers me so much because many of us who have loved ones with cancer understand the true suffering they go through.
I feel so badly for your friend, and yet, I also admire her based on what you've shared with us about her. I sincerely wish her the best health yet, and for you as well! You sound like such a kind and understanding person to have such concern for this friend of your daughter's.
Healthcare SHOULD pay for ALL of our healthcare, no? Well, it doesn’t and folks AND THEIR FAMILIES often lose EVERYTHING to pay uncovered medical costs and/or treatment and drugs😡
Thank god your comment was the first comment I saw after hearing this interview. These women should be jailed their damn selves but most of all they need to get fckn lives and stay out of other people’s lives. These 2 women are horrible and a huge part of what is wrong with the world today. WOW.
Nate I personally think “Courtroom Insider” needs to be a REGULAR. You certainly have the audience and the information you present is always outstanding. Thank you.
Thank you for conducting such an informative interview, Nate. How very sad that shameless scammers like this woman actually rob real cancer victims of the support they so badly need and truly deserve.
This makes me so angry! My own daughter died of cancer and others thought that she was faking it... it is so sad that someone can profit from these people doing this
The psychology behind this kind of behavior is fascinating. What causes someone to seek suc attention and empathy, their childhood stories are usually quite similar
I had breast cancer and it sucked. No help for me. But i would never dream of asking complete strangers for money because so many people who give, really struggle to do so.
I will be listening! Thanks, Nate, for this interview it was enlightening. There was an Australian woman who did the same thing. This behavior hurts those who have real conditions and get no help. Hugs from 🇨🇦
Hi Nate. This exact same thing is happening here in New Zealand at the moment. A 30/40 aged woman , married with children, has been telling friends and family that she has Cancer. And at the same time she has ripped off her employer (The Christchurch Rugby Club) over $100,000 NZ and they've absconded to England where the Police have caught up with her. The rugby club have somehow recouped the money and she will now have to face the Court system once she's brought back to NZ.
this is crazy. what's really crazy is my friends mom lied about this too when I was 12, her mom had us help her shave her head. was traumatizing, everything. Had us sitting outside a hospital for hours while she "got her treatments." I could go on and on.
@bobbicatt I know! I remember it was really hot and we just sat outside her car. I didn't feel like I could say anything bc her mom would be hysterical, then made us cry. My mom even took both girls home with us often, bc her mom was "going through a lot". There's so much more she lied about. The port, all the things. Just recently I found out it wasn't all true and I felt that at a point as a teen. She even went as far saying at a benefit, John Michael mcgommery met her and they were having an affair. I was like alright... this is weird. Said she met all these celebrities.
I was diagnosed Stage IV CRC in 2012, and sure could have done with some financial support. But you do what you have to do to make it work - lying was definitely not part of that. So sad this young woman felt the need to lie so horrendously, taking advantage of compassionate people. Fascinating interview. Thank you!
I am a 75 yr. old, 13 year cancer survivor, and was fortunate enough to have excellent medical coverage through my husband’s employer at the time of my diagnosis and treatment. Here is my takeaway on the subject of this scam. If the United States had a health care system wherein patients didn’t need to plead for money for their treatments and medications, this type of scam would not exist. It is very touching to consider the good people who provided actual money to this scam artists. And heartbreaking to hear about genuine cancer patients who desperately need help with their medical cost. Of course, people with kind hearts wanted to help a young mother in a serious health crisis. But it is, sadly, a case of “buyer beware;” because if you fall for the scam and give financial support, you are literally, unknowingly, buying into the scam. I do hope there was a condition of her sentence requiring her AND her husband, to make reparations of some sort. A much better way to support cancer patients is to leave a gift in your Family Trust/Will to a reputable not-for-profit organization that is noted for doing research and/or providing services to patients in need. My husband and I have both lost young family members to leukemia, and my dear mother died from lymphoma and colon cancer. My husband and I are far from wealthy, but we have named the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in our estate planning. The other way for all of us to help patients in any kind of health crisis, including ourselves and our own loved ones, is to stop voting into political office those who will not represent their constituents in the matter as crucial as health care costs. A significant percentage of bankruptcies filed in the U.S. are because of outrageous medical bills. Our so-called “health care system” should be the number one concern of those representing us in DC. Find out who of our representatives have their hands dripping with dirty money from the medical insurance lobbyists, then vote them out!
In 2021 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer; I did 2 different regiments of chemo, surgery, radiation, then immunotherapy. I am free and clear of cancer now, but knowing what this woman did is beyond words! I am so glad she was exposed!!! Great Job Nancy and Arlette! Thx Nate for bringing us this story!
You’ve done it again Nate thank you ❤ My husband and I are escaping from our twin 17yo grandsons who live with us for three whole days I now have the “Scamander” podcast and your interview with Lindsey Blake to look forward to! I’m so excited!
Thanks for this episode - it’s a great one. I listened to most of the podcast last year and now I want to go back and finish listening to it. Thanks Nate & guests!
I went to each and every appt my husband had during his chemo and radiation. I sat and watched my husband get chemo every week for 8 weeks. I was with him getting sick, loosing weight, getting radiation burns. There is NO WAY her husband didn't know.
So glad your doing more courtroom insider for other cases, I used to get so excited when it popped up on my feed it’s like a dinner time ritual eat and watch Nate narrate the day!! Please don’t stop doing these your a favorite journalist/ anchor!!!
I discovered Scamanda while I was enduring treatment. It’s so frustrating and cruel, because it actually hurts real patients who are at risk of being not supported or believed. I didn’t reach out for donations but if I had to?
Wow this is infuriating. Just went through 2 weeks of mental torture waiting for my biopsy results. I immediately felt so isolated (in reality I wasn’t but I felt that way) and immense guilt. And that was just a tiny fraction of what others go through who have cancer. I hope this woman never sees another day of peace honestly.
The question that begs an answer regarding Corey is: will he be involved with scamming again. And further, what kind of father would put his daughter through this?? Terrible. As far as I am concerned, all of the children should be taken from him!
I listened to Scamanda yesterday. This upsets me. My daughter has cancer and has been undergoing chemo and radiation for the last month and a half. She has a GoFundMe page. She's not a scammer, and I would hate to have people think she is. People like Amanda C. Reily need to spend more time in jail. Her scam hurts people really suffering from cancer, as well as the people she stole from and lied to.
Yes! I listened to all the podcasts on “Scamanda” and was an absolute best piece of journalism out there. Everyone check it out and wait for the ride 😂😂
I was driving from CT to KY when I found the HEARTBREAKING story of that sweet, sick girl - Amanda 😳🤦🏼♀️. I binge listened the entire thing. Bravo- brilliant podcast. (Actually, we shouldn’t NEED to ask for $$ to pay for healthcare (unfortunately, we do!). However, the “Amanda” story will prompt you to ask for receipts before you hand over $$cash to pay those “out of pocket” expenses for some supposedly sick person again OR to set up a gofundme for anyone- even for that sweet old lady from church🤨

I've listened to this podcast a long time ago already. It boggles my mind how these people think they can get away with it. Where are the people around these scammers? If I had to do something like this, my husband , family, and friends would all be on my case, and I would do the same if any of them tried something like that.
Thank you NATE for bringing these ladies on to discuss this case about Scamanda, I heard a little about it but didn't know all the details! I can't believe that she went to all the extent that she did faking her having cancer this is horrible and might make it harder for people who legitimatelyhave serious illnesses that may need help with finances because of extreme costs of medical treatments! I couldn’t agree more!
And make it available in podcast form too !!!
The Scamanda podcast was fantastic, so hard to fathom anyone going to these lengths. Thank you for looking at this, Nate!
Thank you for conducting such an informative interview, Nate. How very sad that shameless scammers like this woman actually rob real cancer victims of the support they so badly need and truly deserve.
I feel so bad for everyone Amanda came in contact with🙏
Right, and it’s not just $$ either!

The betrayal alone is enough to make this woman a monster.
As a current cancer fighter, I couldn’t be more furious. I would not wish cancer on my worst enemy. Karma will fix her.

Covert narcissism+ con artist
She definitely doesn't come across as meek or mild. She loves being on stage. Probably was a liar since childhood
Such a creepy crime, knowing there's real people out there suffering from cancer.
The children should not be with a man who allowed his wife to emotionally abuse them. I hope that they are held accountable.
I know your forte is not 'True Crime" but you do it so well
So excited for this interview! Especially with Nate and journalistic integrity.

I binged the entire thing driving on a long road trip- home for a memorial for my brother, who died prematurely from cancer
I listened to this Podcast last year around this time. It's FANTASTIC!
