40:34 -- "An argument for you to be less caring about human suffering. Am I... Am I winning hearts and minds with this?" Beautiful lol Fwiw, totally agreed Blargho! This will actually help the art world too, because people will become more discerning, and they'll start going out of their way to avoid art which is bad enough to be done by AI. This will ELEVATE people's tastes!
There was a recent (ish) drama with a channel that I follow that used aí thumbnails... And I mostly agree with you that for a UA-cam thumbnail aí usage will not change the world. But I also think there's responsibility that comes with significantly big reach in the internet. Somehow uncle blargho using aí for thumbnail sounds much more acceptable then... Whatever gigantic UA-cam channel such as a serious news channel or a huge channel with big teams of content making.
Another amazing Spelunky 2 adventure, El Blargho! Your commentary is hilarious, and those clutch plays had me on the edge of my seat! Can't believe how you handled that boss fight. Looking forward to more epic runs! Keep it up! 🎮✨ (I used Ai to write this comment hehe)
I do think you have a great opinion on this subject, using it on stuff that you don't care about is valid, but the section where you talk about ai art and it being the equivalent of people using references isn't to true in my eyes. Just think, if your an artist and your using something as a reference, you as a human will pick up on the tiny nuances, the shading, and everything in between, a computer doesn't see any of that. All it sees is a collection of JPEGs, a game of connect the dots, and it's going to do it in the most perfect way it can, which is not only not perfect, but perfect isn't necessarily good either. Like when you use a circle tool in an art app, you only use that as an assist, not just import a circle and be done with it. But importing and then being done with it is what ai tries to do, because it isn't alive. It's just like any other tool, chainsaw is a good tool, just maybe not for washing your car. Great video though I've thoroughly enjoyed.
If Derek Yu is truly the _only_ name you recognize on that team I would highly recommend that you give Downwell by moppin a try. Great little game that you will prabably like if you like Spelunky. I'm kinda in the same boat, though. I have no idea who all those other people are lol
i think the argument about only bad artists needing to be worried isnt entirely valid, people arent so much worried that their art isnt as good as ai art theyre worried that places/people that would otherwise hire them would instead turn to ai art because its quicker easier and doesnt cost money regardless of the fact that its not as good as an actual human doing it sorry if this is kind of hard to read or understand its late and my brain is kinda fried i just wanted to get this out beforfe i forgot
AI is as inevitable as Blargho padding his daily challenge run time with speed runs, as Blargho taking arrows to the face and as Blargho's disdain for pixel art.
As someone who grea up with atari NES and snes and stuff I'm with you, if it's pixel art please be at minimum 16 bit or higher. It just looks so much nicer then the old 8 bit style
honestly the normal art on thumbnails gives the videos a charm that they will never have if it has AI art instead, if i see normal art i think you care about you are making, if i see AI art im pretty sure the contents of the video are going to be boring since you cared so litle to make a thumbnail. this doesnt apply just to you its on general
that's actually really true, i could never put my finger on what bugged me so much about people using ai art for that stuff but i think one of the biggest things is that it shows a lack of care instead of putting the time in to make a thumbnail yourself you just put some words into a machine and then used whatever it spat out this goes for a lot of uses of ai i think
honestly as an artist i dont care about ai thumbnails because at this point everyone can tell what ai art looks like at this point. theres bigger problems with generative ai than that.
recently been switchjng between spelunky HD and 2 as well and I keep mixing up my methods of robbing the shopkeeper in the right game 💔 ended multiple daily challenges bc of this nonsense
I think you mean "generative AI", not just the "large language models" specifically. And I liked the ironic usage of AI art for "fake 8-bit" UFO50 games 👍 There's no ignoring the AI bubble, might as well embrace it
I had written a well constructed comment but youtube decided to take a shit and refresh my page making it disappear. TLDR I hate the implications and consequences of AI but your use is benign and doesn't harm. Also HAHAHAHA SKILL ISSUE
People who just type a few words into Midjourney or Dall-E or whatever is popular now get the wrong idea about AI art imo. I've been using Stable Diffusion since it got a functional UI in 2022, and it's been a fun small hobby. You can train models for characters/styles/themes that would otherwise get almost no art, merge models to get styles and poses that have no close parallel from real artists, etc; etc;. People who keep up with the newest models (or train their own) and spend time editing/inpainting out imperfections can make art that most people couldn't recognize as AI. As far as regulation, the genie is out of the bottle. Every company could just hire "artists" in the third world and keep using AI under their name.
“Your mad about ai art because your not very good at art, not good in fact an AI can replace you” well excuse me! I will have you know an AI can NEVER replace my chicken scratches! No ai can draw as poorly as I!
I find AI is best used as a "starting point" and never a "finished product". Human creativity and organization will always be needed.
This episode could have been titled: "El Blargho tries to face-tank every single arrow trap in Spelunky 2"
You are super right, let me correct that mistake...
@@ElBlarghoevery time, one classy muddafuckuh
This is truly a masterpiece on the bruh.

A members-only published before I go to bed? Ooh. Gotta get all comfy snuggled up so I can watch this one 😗
44:53 What a weird block interaction!
Well noticed!

AI burned my crops, salted the earth of my lands, and put my castle's garrison to the sword.
I could listen to a whole podcast of you talking about AI and its influence. And I align a lot with your perspective on the whole thing.

I will say your own thumbnails are significantly more charming than aislop.

A blargho rant? a video concept so enticing that it compells me to watch it as soon as possible!
Yes!! I totally agree, I think UFO 50 has some “artistic” choices that I’m not a big fan of, it’s nice to know im not the only one who thinks that 😅😅

Yes, give me a hilarious stick figure over some cringey over-the-top epic AI scene any day of the week

I agree with you, i dont care and it doesnt really matter in the end.

Don't worry Blargho I couldn't care less about the AI thumbnails, I'm not stupid you see. And I find the flamewar quite amusing.

youre joking kidding me
