Polish Konik - Polish Heritage

Showing the beauty and unique assets of the Polish Konik breed and the need for its protection, this film presents the idea of a research project of several scientific units, stud farms breeding Polish Koniks, and bird conservation organizations, which form an interdisciplinary idea of comprehensive research related to protection and use of the potential of the Polish Konik breed.
The Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences was the initiator of this joint enterprise. At present, this is the owner of the Research Station in Popielno - the only place in which the Polish Konik is maintained in three various systems: under stable management, in the open system, and in the reserve system. The National Research Institute of Animal Production was chosen to be a coordinator of the work conducted as part of the project.
