    maa shaa'Allah {may God be pleased}!
May Allah bless and protect Sheikh Ibrahim.
(The Guy Richie/Jason Statham movie 'Revolver' reps the 'struggle' pretty well. [The director of the movie uses a torrent of foul language to emphasise his point.])

There are few way to control your thought
1- Dont ever try to resist thought if will do it your mind will see it as threats and will keep busy to avoide it then it will almost become imposibel to change your thought,
2- If you will develop a habit to stop your self from talking unnecessary you will be able to control your thoughts and it has so maney other benifits like great self control, its sunnah ,
3- Ask your self if my mind in control why my mind dont force me to jump from high place, Its you who in control not your mind, asking question always work
    Jazak Allah.

Mashallah, I've been searching for more information and lessons on this topic of notions (khawaatir?) and the battlefield of the heart, as it were, as Uthman dan Fudeyo describes it in Tariq ul-Jannah.
What sources would people recommend on the topic? I'm also trying to find a teacher expert in this area but I'm not sure how to refer to it.

+John Oberlin , Mawlana Hamza Yusuf has an audio/commentary translation of Sayyidi 'Ahmad az-Zaruq's {may Allah be well-pleased with him and spread his benefit} 'Poor Man's Book of Asst.' It is not so much a focusing on khawatir, as it is a comprehensive battle-plan for taking on the enemies of the Self.
(NB. We are referring to a 'science' of the self. As with any science, a teacher/instructor/conductor is a necessary requirement. At least at some stage of the way.)

Minhaj ul Abideen (The Path of the Worshipful Servants) by Imam al Ghazali has a wonderful section on Khawatir. There's an online commentary by Habib Ali al Jifri available (Ayyuhal Murid Part 2) with English subtitles on UA-cam

I like some of his teachings, but he's the first Islamic scholar that I've listened to that uses the term "demons." Why? we are Muslims, not Christians.

You're videos seem sufi/ashari centered but a lot of ibn qayyim and ibn taymiyya is being mentioned. what's the deal?

Deal is in your head, he is a learned scholar, he has more deapth than you, you have ideas in your head that are limited and ignorant, you gained fron hanging around your mate. Things are not the way you think in this Umma

They quote at their convenience especially ibn al qayyium even thoug he refuted Sufis and their excesses. I got no issue with that I listen to sufis scholars too I like some of them just don't like the constant hatred towards 'salafis' and 'wahabis' it's like their dawah is based on hating a certain type of the muslim community. Allah hu mustaan.

    • @niz32iqbal

Samay Ahadi It's usually the wahabis which start the arguments with the Sunni's. the sufi order has no issue. for eg the mawlid. all i get is constant bullying from wahabis telling me I'm doing Eid on the wrong day or i shouldn't be doing the mawlid for example.

The middle path is the way as always. You could argue both ways: hatred fuels hatred.
