I had no idea enameled copper wire could be soldered just like that. I used to scrape the laquer off with a knife or something. There's always something new to learn with NorthridgeFix - thanks!
Amazing what he can do! He once fixed my expensive Dolphin thumb drive that was in pieces! Saved me so much money had I gone back to the original company.
Man i love your site ive learned so much by watching a truly professional technician that takes so much pride in the work you do thank you so much for your videos and i will be buying products from you guys again thank you so much for sowing us your skills
Great intervention, bravo, really fascinating! Two questions for you, if you allow me: - is the wire 0.9mm? - why not connect to the tracks rather than to the chip itself
Always love these vids ... and I find it interesting that people will pay $$ for repairing a USB flash drive. Only explanation is must contain a BitCoin wallet (or other crypto).
@BhaveshMalviya96 Data recovery labor time shouldn't include trying to repair a worthless flash drive. He got it working fast, transferred the files and folders over to a new USB Flash Drive and sold it to the customer + data recovery fee. Now he has a used drive to put in his spare parts bin...on to the next repair w/spare parts in the bin. Fast, efficient and profitable and the customer is happy. win win
@@NorthridgeFix LOL ChadRidgeFix To the original comment, He doesnt know the pinout for the chip and since he could see a trace from one of the data pads to the IC he knew the other would be right beside since USB data lines have to run parallel to each other (differential pair)
This guy can fix anything, from relationships to broken marriages, he can fix it all.

He fixed my male pattern baldness with an anti glare light
Northridge fixed my erectile disfunction. 🙏

If the soldering tip is hot enough, it can burn off the coating.
he's scrapping it off with the soldering iron while on the job
@@Daeth111 Yes he burns the laquer with the sodlering iron and then scrapes it off. I will try next time also with some thicker wire.
it is solderable enamel wire, you can see one of the makers called Elektrisola, there is an enamel wire that can be opened with solder.
@@donoberdoni351 Awesome - thanks! The Polyurethane based laquers are directly solderable they say.

Try a bright light (small flashlight) shining through the back of the board and you can often see the traces.
He knows that. But for the sake of the video and demonstrating the magic of the grinding pen, he chose this route.
...or just use a meter in continuity mode.
@@Cleofizoid Alex may know, but the comment was really meant for other folks who might be able to use the technique.

Hi Alex! Why didn't you install a new connector on it? :)
Amazing work, customer will be a happy camper for sure.
Both wires are seen very good at 1:25
Strong work! Cheers, mate!
I miss these kinds of flash drives, they are more durable than today's drives.
Nice work (as usual)
Hello
I have a question i need a help from you
my question is

The screnn print is to remove with acetone ...
Good diagnosis.

Using the multimeter
Great work!
Good job mate 👍
Very good work. thanks
Impressive work
Why not google the chip and download datasheet?
Amazing job as usual but why do u reconnect the usb after it works ?
I panic when u do that in data recovery videos 😂😂
Came in for data recovery.
I would've soldered the connector directly to the drive so it can be utilized normaly but great job nonetheless
trade mark smile of success.
Very good job 👏 👍 👌
Sir which data recovery software is best for hard drives ?
I would like to know that too
Amazing skills
Ready for midnight class

First like and First comment perfect job as always keep it up 👍🏻👍🏻
Why didn't you put track pads and installed new USB pin, like you do for other things with missing pads? Just curious to know.
Why would you do that. Waste of time. Flash drives are cheap. We transferred the files to a new one.
@@NorthridgeFix Oh okay. In India Scandisk 128GB Pen-drive it cost as 8.13$.

Awesome
You mean pins 24 & 25? I know you know - I'm just being a pest as on a forum I use, beginners often use wrong pin numbering!
You should repair Smartphones too.
Shine a light on the back side of board on these . Traces show
Can we just measure with a multi meter from D+/D- to the chip legs, so we don't have to grind all the pads.
bro, What are you smoking ?
@@NorthridgeFix He mean to say that we can use multimeter to check continuity for specific pads by just grinding little near missing pads.
