“Hey Soundboy” is a bubbling, bass fuelled cut and is a true staple in Potential’s energic style that he is known for. The euphoric yet strong vocals & ad libs that Chez sings build the mood on this dancefloor filler. Rhythmic percussive components drive the track over heavy basslines. Full of adrenaline yet maintaining a crisp clarity throughout, “Hey Soundboy” is ready to tear up the dance with masterful precision.
“Potential Badboy and I started speaking around March this year and after hearing the demo for the first time I got in the studio as soon as I could. The tune sounded wicked and made me think of all the times at raves when you can just get lost in the dance, disappear into the music and forget about all your problems so I really tried to capture that feeling in the lyrics. Of course, an experience like that can only happen if there's a quality DJ playing so that's where the line 'Hey Soundboy give me a reason' came from. I'm a DJ myself and love the dubplate soundclash culture and to be honest just had the best time writing the tune and finding loads of different ways to paint a picture of how music like this makes me feel” (Chez)
