My favourite singer. I saw her twice in concert. I had front row seats. I played this song at my dad's funeral. Thank you for your reaction. Sending love from Melbourne Australia. X
There was 200,000 people at the Concert in March 1967 at the Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne. I was 7 and was at this concert - followed The Seekers ever since.
Of all the Seekers songs, this is my favorite. Judiths voice is angelic and I also think that the guys in the band, Athol Guy, Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley, complimented her voice. Simply amazing!
Truly. It's a shame that it took Judith dying for me to go back and take another look at them. I loved "Georgie Girl" but I was still pretty young when it came out. When I discovered "I am Australian" I was astounded. Such a moving song. I've listened to it a bunch of times since and it still brings me to tears. I watched this great fan video and someone was kind enough to explain all the references. As you can see, this is a tiny little channel but I've had over 7,000 people watch it and so many Australians expressing their pride in their country. ua-cam.com/video/h7Fi24JqmI4/v-deo.html
She was classically trained, was initially singing jazz in her late teens. She was working with Athol Guy the bass player and he asked her if she would like to join his little folk group. The rest is history .
A great Aussie band. They once had a number one hit on the British charts..knocking the Beatles from that position.

Elton John once said that Judith Durham had the best female voice he had heard.

Judith must be classically trained. Her elocution, timing, expression and presentation is exceptional. A top class artist.

Listening to this song is like being wrapped in a warm blanket cuddling with my dogs next to the fireplace.

Classically trained? No. just talented, she struggled with many issues, like we all do.
Beautiful.
RIP Judith Durham🕊️
The only singer today whose voice is as clean, clear, crystalline, pristine and pure as Judith's is Emanne Beasha
This is one of my all-time favorite songs by The Seekers, I appreciate you doing a reaction to this video.
What an amazing voice!
My favorite too!
Indeed quite a crowd. In fact, the largest gathering ever and anywhere in the southern hemisphere.
And now my friend the carnival is over
😭
Judith did want to train as a soprano, but then the seekers happened and she moved onto other stuff.
