But outside of that I don't think her actions were particularly malicious, I think she was telling the truth when she told Olivia that the reason she let it go on was because it gave her a break. While she did seem jealous or resentful of their relationship at times I think it was more out of loneliness and the need for companionship rather than she actually wanted him back. Mellie pretty much had no one outside of Fitz.
