To clarify, this generates new video (up to 2s) and ambience audio like roomtone (up to 10 seconds). It is not a frame hold which is just freeze frame of the last frame --- not video. Gen Extend aims to reproduce the frame rate and cadence of the video so you can keep the shot on longer for editing rhythm or to fill a gap.
Its great but what premiere needs right now is a pack of modern transitions. Using templates is very cumbersome right now. If they add this, it would make it a killer app and remove the need for capcut
It'd be kind of cool on your transition example if for instance when the pop up for insufficient frames popped up if Premiere had an option you could choose from the popup that said "generate missing frames with AI." That way if you were adding effects deep into an edit and didn't want to mess with moving stuff around on a fairly completed timeline it'd just do it where it already is.
can they just please give us a decent STABILIZER that uses the before and after frames to fill in the borders so we don't have to crop a stabilized video
Played with this quite a bit earlier today and tried challenging it. Got some impressive results of people in interview settings and some dancing. Other shots were definitely rough. Hands are not its friend though and the color change when it switches to the generated content is definitely noticable. I can see some uses in its current state, but it has a long way to go.
From an environmental perspective, folks should carefully consider when they use cloud-based AI. If you can easily copy and paste room tone or loop a sound, please don't waste gallons of water using AI to do it.
SO cool - thank you for always providing incredible and easy to understand info - we look to you first for almost every PP related question we have, thank you for all you do!
I hope some day Adobe retains the same colours and contrast after the export. Even after applying QT gamma compensation lut while exporting it’s close to what timeline is. But not the same. I want this fix so badly.
Good video. Will try. I don't need AI to do major, awe inspiring things. The extend helps, well would have helped in my old position. But now I just want a better remix tool, be able to type prompts that reduce labor time developing something, i.e. create mogrts or templates I can reuse. This would be great AI IMHO
Currently working on a short film for our high school. They are 10 drone clips show casing fall colours. I imported the footage and noticed only the first clip will play. The rest stay still. and not play at all.
It's cool. But hey, what about motion tracking?!? What about parenting? Pick whipping? I'm tired of switiching to After Effects everytime I wanna do these basic things.
I'm interested to see how the generative extend will work with a less static shot. Like shaky cam or a zoom for example 🤔 hmm... Will test in the morning once I can some zzz's 😴
Hi, I am looking for a Video on Premiere Pro interface. its sounds basic but its still irritates a lot, keeps begginer most of the time to keep adjusting the workspace, all layers do not easily visible at teh same time, sometimes audio pannel layes gets hides, some times draging a audio on layer doesnt drops there, and in thensecond attempts it does. most of the time gets involved in adjusting and draging windows and pannels. hope you can get what i am talking about. this will help many begginers.
That transition is part of my Gal Toolkit Extension that my team and I made, premieregal.com/toolkit -- there is version for ae and pr -- it includes over 1680 effects, 345 transitions specifically.
A frame hold is a still image of the last frame, extend is generating more video from the video to make it longer in the same fps. Try it out with moving shots and aerials 👍
Hello, I am from Vietnam. I just updated to Premiere Pro 2025, but my projects from the previous version won't open. I hope you can upload a video to help me fix this error. Thank you very much
"Hey there! I noticed while you were editing your own clip and at the end of the video, the lighting changes a bit, and it seems like the clip might be looping the existing footage.
We did loop it in the edit to show the lighting change from before and after the generation started on repeat, but the lighting change occurs only as we play into the ai generated portion.
Kinda pointless at this stage. I would like to see a end clip where there is movement. The ones showed in the example are pretty much static. Which you would get better results slowing down that parte and use optical flow
I hear you on that, I realized my examples were static -- I'll do a follow up showing more moving shots and also compare the difference between slowing down a clip and using optical flow vs gen-extend. I think the results will show whether or not gen-extend is better or worse than speedchange + optical flow. The time it takes to render optical flow is faster than generating an extension at this point, so I think gen extend needs to be faster for it to be worth it.
Isn't this basically using the same artificial intelligence almost every professional video camera compression method offers where the camera creates new frames based off the previous one. Such as Sony's H.264 compression with variations like XAVC-I (Intraframe) and XAVC-L (Long-GOP). Only instead of on device processing its processed in the cloud?
Remix is for instrumental music to splice together repeitive beats to make it shorter or longer. Generative Extend is literally generating more audio of the same sound for additional time.
can't wait for my next 'renewal' when Adobe finds out that my CC expired and then I'm no longer 'latched' to them 🥰 heard that lots of people had problems unsubscribing. i am one of the lucky ones

If I could I would right away, but I know from recent conversations I've had with the Pr Pro Team, they are aware that users want this!
ai-videoupscale AI fixes this. New AI Generative Extend Tool

Thats Easy to fix, just go tô Lumetri Settings and change the Gamma Playback from Web to QuickTime, and enable GPU acceleration.

What about the remix tool button, has it been cancelled? It was better for audio

Thanks.

your generated extensions or your entire video export? Make sure you are exporting to match sequence in high-bit-rate.

Probably will work like this in the next ten years, when they forget to update, like every new feature...
