Once agian, i find his opinion really interesting and i agree when it comes to most popular art. But i do think that some of the best works of art tap into the rational mind, although most of the examples i can think of, are more modern. It is possible that Plato's completely accurate in his assessment of his time, I'm not too familiar with works from that era. But I'd be willing to bet that symbolism was still used in works then, which i would argue that the deciphering of the symbols is a part of the rational soul. Realizing that the story or painting has some commentary about life, hidden within its paint or text. It's just not at face value. I am excited to see where he's going with this though and maybe by the end of it I'll agree.
"Why cry? Why not focus on the deep meaning of life itself?" that could be one of our transcendental philosophical questions helping us to approach Plato's critical thinking..... Thanks a lot, Dr. Sadler!

Thank you.
Why did the soul left the world of forms? If it is the perfect world?
Well, you've got your accounts later in the Republic and in the Phaedrus - those are good texts to start with
