4 Day Solo Expedition | Inflatable Kayak | Shipwreck ArrowStream

- Опубліковано 3 тра 2021
- In April 2021, I decided to kayak around the Isle of Wight, a large island off southern England. I packed my Shipwreck ArrowStream dropstitch inflatable kayak, camping equipment and food and water and head off for some stunning scenery.
Shot on Gopro7, sony ax53 and mavic air 2.
An inspiration to many, thank you for sharing.
Wow! I thought of getting into kayaking but, after watching your video, I knew I will get into kayaking!
Epic trip, especially in an inflatable, and a superb video to show for it. Awesome
Fantastic video George, camera work , music, whole package . Thanks for posting 👍🏻
That was a great adventure I must say. The drone footage was great and so was your narrating 👏👍
Thanks!
Thank you for taking us along on your journey
Brilliant trip - I'm probably going to copy it in my Itiwit x500 kayak! Thanks for the idea :)
What a great video, your narration has an almost poetic feel to it, I might consider an inflatable kayak now I didn't know they were so robust.
Great adventure, and thanks for taking the time to share, amazing 🙏
What a great adventure!
What an amazing tour! Thanks for sharing video! Scenery was beautiful. Done shot was awesome. Great effort with your kayaking. Keep paddling!
Cool. It's just what I want to do! Respect!!
that's bit of achievement. good you made itr safe with no drama. haven't done sea yet.
Superb trip , tough ending 👍🏼👍🏼
Well colour me inspired dude! Thanks!!
Love the anamorphic look George.....thought you used a sirui 24mm for a min......I paddled out to the napoleonic sea forts a few yrs ago beached, tied up and climbed in side....it was pretty cool....nice little production mate.
Thats life👍❤️
Absolutely incredible video. Great camera shots
Nice adventure and great coverage! thanks for sharing. I use a similar kayak for shorter outings at sea waters in Greece.
Very interesting, great film footage and editing.
Excellent! You were lucky with the weather and sea state. . I have the 473 version of this kayak (glider) , love it.
Mega video! I actually found your channel for the van stuff but I also solo wild camp, from a kayak
Great video!
WOW! What amazing expedition and the visuals are beautiful! Very cool inflatable kayak. I have the Advanced Elements Advanced Frame that I'd like to take for destination travel kayaking. I wonder how much water you brought with you for a 4 day trip and how much water was consumed per day. Thanks for sharing this awesome adventure!
Enjoyable video ...cheers...
If you turn into an oncoming wave the kayak rides it better
thats insane, we cycled around the whole island but almost died on the 1st day
A great video and an interesting kayak. Would this model benefit from a removable deck like the Gumotex seawave for sea trips?
Would be good in rough seas I think yes
Looks like an amazing trip. I am considering an ArrowStream myself, how have you found it?
Hi Jack, I work for the company so consider it biased, but I'm really happy with mine. This was the double.
Conditions are very different late in the year - avoid!
Yeah I was lucky!
Just watched this vid twice over, really good! I live just opposite the island and thought about doing this a few times. Is there anything you'd change or recommend now you've done it?
Glad you liked it! I'd pay attention to the wind forecasts, and probably take more than 4 days to relax a little more. Depending what kind of kayak you have, a hard sea kayak would be faster.
Brilliant video. I appreciate you work for the company George but how do you find the stability of these dropstitch kayaks? I'm really tempted to get one but am a complete novice and reviews of similar suggest they are a little tipsy.
The arrowstream does look great value.
Hi, yes they can be considered "tippy" compared to the larger fatter inflatable kayaks, but after 1-2 uses you'll be absolutely used to it. Think of it like riding a bike without training wheels, once you're okay with it it's easy. Then you'll be glad to have the better speed and lower resistance in the water.
@@georgescott6671 thanks for getting back to me. That certainly has made my mind up.
@@georgescott6671 Interested in buying one of these. I'm also concerned about these being tippy, though in the video you were standing in it and it looked pretty stable to me. You must have found it pretty stable? Are those hard plastic ends like the KXONE Slider 375 has? Good idea to prevent damage. How does it turn? ( I read a review saying that they are hard to turn.) Finally as you work for the company, why isn't an address shown anywhere? If you were near it would be nice to see one before buying. Mark
@@MyChannelcloud Hi Mark, we're just an online company, so no shop, but email the company for any questions about addresses etc. Tippyness, it's like riding a bike, once you get used to it it's absolutely fine. Yep, hard plastic ends which stand up to quite a bit of abuse. Turning is a bit resistive, but you obviously can get it to turn, I take it down smaller rivers all the time and have no issues :) Hope this is useful!
@@georgescott6671 Thank you
Could you talk about why you chose this particular kayak? How does it compare to kayaks with cylindrical inflatable sides, like the Itiwit x100 or the Sea Eagle Fasttrack series? Also, is it stable enough to stand up in?
I work for shipwreck so that's the simple answer. I would always go for Dropstitch kayaks though, they are far higher quality, and are much faster in the water. Much closer to a hardshell kayak. This trip would have taken twice as long in either of the kayak y's you've mentioned.
@@georgescott6671 just emailed Shipwrecked to make an enquiry and then came across your video. I had ordered an itiwit x500 but cancelled due to the negative reviews. Are you in the 2 man version here? Looks very stable for a complete drop stitch build
@@ovrobinson7780was wondering about the stability, I have a different drop stitch kayak and I wouldn't be taking it out In the sea
@@artsy38 stability is good but if you jump out of it for a swim you couldn't get back in. In my opinion that is a big problem so I will sell mine.
How does the one man compare to the two man when the water gets a bit more on the rough side of things?
It's a little less stable, but not a major difference to me
Are you planning another adventure? Are you gonna use the sane boat?
Yes and yes!
So for the drone shots of the kayak on the water, do you have someone else filming?
Dji drones have an auto follow mode
@@georgescott6671 And do you pick up and launch the drone from the water?
@@behrensf84 yep!
need to pump water, bez drop water into kayak easily
Hi is your kayak a 1 or 2 man kayak? Thank you.
This is the 2 man
@@georgescott6671 thank you. I live in Southampton and I'm going to be doing this next spring. Did you start at Milford on Sea then cross over to the Isle of Wight?
What kind brand of kayak
Shipwreck's ArrowStream double kayak
Well done. I like your video.
I assume you launch and recover the drone from the kayak?? I haven't been bold enough to do that.
You were very fortunate to have 4 days of clement weather in a row. Several parts of this trip can be a bit dicey if the weather doesn't cooperate.
Yep with the drone, I have a catching glove so not to chop my fingers. It is scary as it can act oddly over water.
Yes I do appreciate that, was very lucky with weather!
@@georgescott6671 Great stuff.
I'll keep watching for the next yak adventure. I enjoyed this one.
Cheers
