Great Review helped me to buy this helmet + comes with Chin Curtain, Breathe Gaurd and Pin Lock insert - no pin lock photochromic insert you will have buy another dark visior on buy the expensive photochromic visor which is expense as adviced wear at home for 30 min to decide ..... after few hour ride on my Honda Fireblade it is conformtable and set to my head .... it light and the middle air vent is very airy The biggest tip is not all brands fit your head shape and therefore I stay with Shoei helmets as they fit my head
Thanks, just bought a flat bk. one across the pond for my 1st.track day.Miss my modular I usually wear . Nice lid ,great review on this wonderful Shoei helmet.
Thanks for the review. I'm 45 looking to get a bike after a biiig gap between now and my new gsxr750 k7, things have moved on!! Good to see this type of review as it helps loads...going to buy kit before the bike this time.
Really enjoying your review content, thanks for the video 👍. The helmet looks nice. Shame about the size increase, but for the sake of the safety increase it’s forgivable for me. The weight difference is so small I don’t think you’d really notice it from the previous gen. A nice lid!
Agreed. Having worn the NXR and NXR 2 back-to-back, I couldn't feel the weight difference. And the extra size is barely noticeable to the eye, either. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
visor information at around 2:20 is incorrect. The visor will NOT stay open just a little bit, it keeps dropping closed. I've been in touch with Feridax who say this is normal and not a helmet fault. Apparently I can return it to Shoei for them to I guess confirm this. This helmet in this condition is a nightmare on the road. In hot weather, in traffic or at lights, there's no air flow through, in winter, with glasses, there is no way to stop them steaming up when traveling slowly. Add to this an annyoying whistle with the visor just dropped shut as soon as you hit mph and it probably my worst motorcycling purchase. I will return it to Shoei I think, based on having seen this video, because mine certainly will NOT stay in the slightly open position. If this changes, I will update this information.
Great review. But bigger and heavier?............Not a great start. I appreciate it may be slighty safer but does make me wonder when the H&S limits will be reached. Will we be wearing helmets the size of small planets in a few years time? I'm a big fan of Shoei though, but my NXR has got a few years left in her yet (Touch wood)
It's hard to get a definitive answer on why, but it appears as though everything's going up a shell size (ie small lids get the shell that used to be on a medium) to give more protection at the impact speeds required in the new test. We'll have to wait and see what happens when the 22.06 models really start flowing in but I suspect it's the lighter models that will be most likely to getting a bit heavier. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
The RF-1400 is America's name for the NXR 2 so while there may be differences based on the approvals required in the relevant countries the two helmets are essentially the same. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
The visor opening detents seem very weak on the first couple of detent positions, enough that 50mph will have it closing by itself. I tried about 5 NXR 2's in the shop and they all do it, but no mention of it in this review?
That's something I need to consider trying for future reviews. I only ever ride with visor up, down or cracked so never find out about how well it stays in an intermediate position. But it's cropping up more in the comments so I'll try and make it part of my reviews from now. Cheers, Tony
I couldn't give a direct comparison like that three years after the review, sorry. Customer reviews are favourable on both issues, and you can have a look through them here if it helps... www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/536356#reviews Cheers, Tony
We only had this helmet for a few days when we made this video, so I couldn't say if it would fit - until we receive stock later in the summer. Sorry for not being able to help further, and thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
Hey, I just installed pactalk bold onto this helmet, fits perfectly. Just be aware that pactalk bold black is having 45mm speakers which will probably not fit, because the helmet holes are made for standard 40mm speakers which packtalk bold standard ones are having.
@@TihomirSavic87 did you have to stick the packtalk on it or can you clip it onto it? On my gt air 2 i had stupid sena placeholders that prevented me from clipping my unit on it so i had to use the sticky mount
Depends on your riding, and preferences. I'd say the GT-Air 2 is more suited to touring and commuting riding thanks to the click-up strap fastener and dropdown sun visor. The NXR 2 is a sportier helmet - it's lighter and the D-ring strap fastener is favoured by many riders. Not that there's a rule saying you couldn't use either for the other purpose, but that is what they're primarily designed to do. Thanks for getting in touch and I hope that helps. Cheers, Tony
We don't, sorry - Shoei's UK importer doesn't supply the NXR 2 in this size. Thanks for getting in touch, and apologies for the delay in responding. Cheers, Tony
Is all the internal lining removable to wash it? I've seen other reviewers removing all the lining besides the neck roll, is the neck roll not removable? It's not a big deal to me if the neck roll can't be removed, but I was just wondering if that's the case. I'm going to start motorcycle school in September after the helmet officially launches and I will receive it. :)
I don't recall whether the neckroll was removable from the helmet we had for this video. Once our stock of the NXR 2 arrives I'll check and post a reply here to say whether it does or doesn't. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
@@sportsbikeshop Hello, I've returned with a question if you could help me. The motorcycle shops in my city do not have an NXR for me to try on so I tried on the Shoei GT Air. The large size in the GT Air was too loose on my head. Do all Shoei helmets fit the same in terms of size? As in, if the large size GT Air was too big on my head, does that mean the NXR 2 in large would also be too big? Does that mean I could safely order a medium size for the NXR 2? Thank you in advance!
There's never a guarantee, and the GT Air 2 and NXR will fit differently, but I wore a size medium in both those helmets so if a medium GT Air 2 fits you correctly then I would expect a medium to be the right size - then it's just a matter of whether the shape suits your head. I hope that helps. Cheers, Tony
Sorry, I only tested this on the road and couldn't comment on stability at those sort of speeds. Regardless of my experience, Shoei's racing helmet would be best - the X-Spirit 3 if you want it straight away, or the upcoming X-SPR Pro if you can wait until September 2022. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

I love the review. Appreciate how u handle situation u could not tell the previous one is worst (marketing) 😉
Does the helmet have slots to make it more comfortable when wearing glasses please?
I've just been and checked. There aren't dedicated slots as such, but there's room inside for spectacles. Cheers, Tony
Love my original NXR - is this quieter and does it have a wider field of vision?

Very informative thanks.
Hi, does this have helmet have pockets for speaker systems?
Hi, yes it does. This is covered at 5:19 in the video. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

No, one will be fine. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

I currently wear an nxr with a transitions visor. Have Shoei advised whether this will be visor option on the nxr2?
