Towards the start of your video, I was thinking that the geometry of the tail wheel would be wrong if a previous owner had changed one of the link lengths to make the pivot vertical, because without any caster the wheel would not track right and would wobble like one of those supermarket trolleys where the wheel spindle has been bent. But seeing that clever cam arrangement at the end of the video, caster probably wouldn't matter, and there is plenty of trail to make thee wheel track properly. That cam and socket looks like it could do with being painted with grease, although there was no shiny metal, so it was not rubbing. BTW My dad had a bucket of grease in the yard that he used to paint the plough shears with at the end of the day to keeping the rust off. He used to use it as anti-seize as well, dipping every nut and bolt in the grease when changing shears and blades. I was marvelling at how straight your furrows were, but then I realised I was watching Frank, the man with the tidiest ditches on any construction site anywhere. I did wonder if the disks were not working as well as they should, as the leading edge was not as clean as it could be - even with the grass.

Frank, I learned to plow on a Ferguson pulling a 2 bottom moldboard. We changed out to a 3 bottom disk plow in the weedy bottom fields. The pain in my neck was minor compared to the scorching my left foot took from having the exhaust pipe under the foot panel.
I didn’t have a way to keep my foot from getting burnt. But, I could have saved the neck pain… if I wasn’t so addicted to watching the dirt roll up the moldboard or spiral off the disk. It was more exciting than watching Mutual if Omaha’s Wild Kingdom.
Ahhh, those were the days. Thanks for the plow porn! I needed that.

We had a three bottom 14 inch John Deere that looked a lot like your Case. Ours had safety trip bottoms due to the rocks we had. Dad told story of first John Deere plows that had a breakaway hitch instead of trip bottoms, they had a rope tied to hand clutch. When you hooked a rock the breakaway let go, the rope pulled the clutch to stop the tractor. If you drove with your knees to the right and hooked a rock that big old clutch handle left an impression on your knee as well as your brain to keep your knees out of the way. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Frank, good to see you're alive and kicking. I hope you're handling all the pressures of life considering what's happening in the world at the moment. Where I am is relatively normal, but noticing changes at the Supermarket. Anyways on another note, I noticed the conical roller wasn't turning perhaps that also is hindering the jocky wheel turning.
PS. The 22RB is getting a new cab and the boom has been repaired, the fairlead is at the machine shops getting new bronze bush, sheaves and pins. Hope to have it back together soon. God Bless and may he keep us all til the end. Cheerio Adrian

    Dang it Frank...!
see, we just can’t have nice things..., breaking the equipment like that... hahaha.
Great viewer gift, that zero fitting tool is pretty cool...
Frank, don’t worry bout your content being interesting, you have, will gather a following..., I sure love watching this type of stuff...
Surprising the moisture in that soil...
    Thank you sir.
P.S., you probably saw it during editing, that one hydraulic line (left side) going to your lift cylinder, gets “taught”, when turning to the left, kinda working against your fitting, maybe...?

As a boy I remember getting a tram from my Grandma's out to Keillor Road Essendon, in Melbourne (,Aus) to see the new 930
Such an impressive tractor. Must have been Jan 1961

This is an A series plow, not a C series. A series was the heaviest, then the C series, and then the G series. Tha A series has the heavy bar going across the front like this one, otherwise very similar to the C.

Those long levers were notorious for breaking from flopping back-and-forth on rough ground that may be the reason that it is welded

Plowed many acres with the 5 and 6 bottom version of that plow. 930 Comfort King, 1175 and 2290 Case Tractors. I've got a trick for completely plowing under 8ft weeds using #9 wire if ever needed.

Did you figure out why it stopped lifting high enough?

Frank someone maybe changed the tire size? Looks to small in diameter. Only make left hand turns!

You know you are in trouble when your tail wheel won't pivot.

Pivots fine on left hand turns, they never did pivot for a right hand turns. We had the 4 and 5 bottom plows like this when I was a kid. Don't remember them ever pivoting for right hand turns

Your rear tire is too small. I have spent a lot of time on old plows and normally all of the tires are the same size.

@@Digginok I am not sure. I can’t tell for sure what size you’ve got on there. If you had a tire that was 4 inches taller it would give you 2 inches more from the spindle down.

@@albertmcalister9066 do they make a 12” tire 4” taller than a 4:80-12? This is the same size it had when I bought it.

@@Digginok I don’t know. Part of the problem with the lift height on the back of that plow could be the wear in all of the linkage. 1/16 here and a1/16 there and before you know it you have a 1/2 inch gone.

A 4.80-12 tire will be 20.5 inches in diameter whereas a 5.30-12 tire will be 21.9 inches. You would need to make sure that the is more than 3/4 of an inch above the 4.80-12 tire to be able to use a 5.30-12. The smaller 4.80-12 is 4.9 inches wide.Jun 18, 2014
