I know I'm probably looking into this song too much, but I like to decipher songs like this. Him putting on the headphones and then running away into the forest is actually just him listening to music and going into his own little world where he can escape his parents constant fighting. It keeps him sane and it makes him feel better. When he rubs his hand on his face and paint shows on his face, I think that means how much the world in his head inspires him.
