How To Change Scotch Shipping Tape (Packaging Dispenser)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- The Scotch Shipping Tape Dispenser is a great invention, especially if you sell on eBay. The Scotch Shipping Tape Dispenser makes it easy to secure packages without wasting lots of tape, which gets pricey. Using the dispenser also gives your packages a professional and polished look. There's nothing worse than receiving a package with ratty tape that shows the shipper's finger prints. Although I'm very happy with the Scotch Shipping Tape Dispenser product, swapping out the tape can take some practice. In this video, I'll show you my method for inserting a new role of packaging tape into the dispenser.

Love that you can go on UA-cam for just about any tutorial now! Thank you!
You're welcome, Chad! Thanks for watching, glad the video was helpful!
Thank you for this video. Not a silly video, it helps!
Glad it was helpful, Susan. Thanks for watching!
After struggling with this for 5 minutes with this dispenser I was getting increasingly frustrated, then my husband (IQ 160) took it from me and couldn't do it and so I told him to stop I will get it fixed. I went to UA-cam and there you are! Thank you very much, in less than 1 minute we were done.
Glad I could help, Cellgrrl. Thanks so much for watching, I really appreciate it. Wishing you all the best!
Thanks for the video! These simple things can make me feel like an idiot!! I always bought a holder with the tape in it! Now I can just replace the tape!! 😁
Hey Brenda, thanks so much for watching! I'm glad the video was helpful ;-)
Not a silly video at all! I'm laughing at my inability to do this seemingly simple task! Your video helped. Wife can't believe I had to UA-cam it though. I'll let her do the next one :-))
Hey Peter-Neil, thanks for watching and glad the video helped! LOL, it's amazing how difficult changing out this tape really is, I spent wayyy too long trying to figure it out.
I agree with everyone. Thank you and thank you for keeping this up years later. Sometimes it will come in plastic packing itself. So if you found where the first part of tape is and can’t get it to come off, that’s why.
You're welcome, Leo. I'm glad the video was helpful, thanks so much for watching!
Thank you SO much!!! I did the same thing - fooled with the dispenser for 20 minutes to change the tape and couldn't believe that I couldn't figure it out!!! Then I watched your video and...done!!! Big thumbs up!!! Thank you for making this video!!!!
You're welcome, Karen. Thanks for watching, wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
i found it easier to just throw that ridiculous dispenser away and use with scissors like ordinary tape much simpler! whoever designed that dispenser must have been high on weed.
Thanks for watching, azztekk! LOL, must have been the intern that designed the dispenser, definitely seems unnecessarily complicated to use. Wishing you all the best!
It’s amazing what you can find on UA-cam these days!!! Thanks. I never knew you could reuse these. 🙄.
Hey Olive, I'm glad you found the video. Thanks so much for watching, and Happy New Year to you!
Always great when Ray Romano can give you instructions on tape refill procedure
LOL thanks so much for watching, I'm glad the video was helpful. Happy Holidays!
They genius people who invented this device could do us all a favor a put some simple directions with a threading diagram. Your demonstration is very much appreciated. The thing I find helpful is to tell everyone the sticky side of the tape is actually up on this device when it meets the cutter. This is opposite of the small tape dispensers we have used for years where the sticky side is down at the cutter. You do not actually mention that in your video. But can be seen at frame 1:33 / 2:17 when you load the new roll. Thank you. That verifies it. And I agree with everyone who says this thing makes you feel very silly. 😦😦😦
Thanks so much for adding that clarification! It took me forever trying to figure this out for the first time, frustrating how they don't give directions. Wishing you the best and thanks so much for watching!
Seriously, they must be sadistic to not include replacement instructions.
@@cellgrrl ua-cam.com/video/Nv8ttA1rFvM/v-deo.html
I replaced the tape differently; flip it 180 deg from shown here so the sticky side of the tape runs below the cutter and the grip depressor tongue (see 1:09) is on top. That way you can tag the sticky side onto a surface then pull the tape out as you pull the tape along the surface, then tip the dispenser on its teeth to cut cut the tape when you have finished pulling. Leaves a short bit of sticky side up near the dispenser mouth, so I fold the tape over on itself so I can grab it next time.
Great tip, Bruce, really appreciate your directions. Wishing you the best and thanks for watching!
It is not a silly video. You are a life saver.
Glad the video was helpful, Omolola, thanks for watching!
It's a terrible design. There's no room to get your fingers around the tape at the cutter to pull off the next piece. The side guards block your fingers.
I agree, John. The design isn't user friendly at all. Hope Scotch is watching this video and incorporates our suggestions into the next generation model. Thanks for watching and wishing you all the best!
You made it look so easy, thank you. I was getting very frustrated!
Glad it helped, thanks so much for watching Gillian!
Every time i put the tape in, I can't move the tape. frustrating.
Hey Victoria, you're not the only one to have issues with this tape dispenser, there is definitely room for improvement! Hope the video was somewhat helpful. Wishing you the best and thanks so much for watching!
Thank you SO MUCH. So easy to do when someone like you has made an awesome video like this. What did we ever do before there was Google?
Glad it was helpful, Jessica! LOL, we all suffered!
This video saved my butt tonight! I have been struggling with changing my tape roll out. I don’t know why it was that difficult for me, but this was a huge help thank you!
You're welcome, Amy! Glad the video was helpful!
That dispenser is a poorly designed but massive pain in the butt.
That's for sure LOL. Thanks for watching, Anthony!
Not a silly video at all but a helpful video 😀
Thank you so much it help a lot. I just wanted to make sure i was putting in the right side. Scotch should have a quick instructions display to help people use it right.
Thanks so much for watching, Diana! Glad the video was helpful ;-) Wishing you a great holiday season!
I also used 20 minutes 😂 Thanks for the help!
Glad the video was helpful, Niina! Thanks for watching!
I just could't figure this out by myself! Thank you so much!
Happy to help. Thanks for watching, Maureen!
Trust me, this video is very helpful
Glad it was helpful, gentleye31. Thanks for watching, wishing you a great summer!
Omg! Just the video I need. Just bought the exact same tape and dispenser and needed help. Thank you
Glad I could help, thanks for watching!
THANKS SO MUCH, YOU SAVED ME SO MUCH TROUBLE!!!!!!!
don't normally type in caps but my excitement required it
Thanks so much for watching, CoasterMagicX2. I'm so happy the video was helpful ;-)
He knows how to refill, but doesn’t know how to use it. I didn’t expect the last part of this video
Thanks for watching, Glucky!
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one to fumble with these dispensers. I'm a well seasoned (35+ years) auto mechanic, so it's not like I typically struggle to figure out moving parts, but there are so many different designs with flaps, guides, doors, rocket boosters, radar... OOFDAH! It's not the space shuttle. It's a TAPE DISPENSER!!!!
LOL, I understand your frustration, Paul.....defenetely felt the same way at first! Thanks so much for watching, have a great summer!
LOL! Thanks for the tip. I love using the plastic model dispenser for big jobs at home, but surely some brainiac out there could come up with a better design.
When I’m through taping & cut it off at the end, if the tape sticks back down on itself & I can’t easily see or peel up the end, I take scissors & make a very light, shallow cut across the roll. This makes a new “end” that’s easy to see & peel up. Then I pull gently until I get down to the portion of the roll that wasn’t cut through. It wastes some tape, but saves a lot of time & frustration! Good luck everybody!
Great tip! Hopefully they'll improve the design after seeing all of the confusion this dispenser has caused. Thanks so much for watching!
I figured it out right away.
Thanks for watching!
That's one reason people don't have pretty much time in life anymore. Spending too much time with this type of product to figure out how they work, usually on cell phone searching several time and being lucky to find a tutorial most part of them from other customers cause companies are missing out instructions notes on their products. I don't know why??
I agree, Dilci! They certainty don't make it easy to figure out on your own. Hope the video was helpful, thanks so much for watching!
Thank you so much I was struggling with it for too long. Definitely not a “silly video” thanks for your service
Gad the video was helpful, thanks so much for watching!
Thanks so much for the demo of how to refill the scotch tape 315. I was wondering how to refill it. This was helpful!
Just a little tip, when you want to tape your box/parcel, you can actually pull the tape with your left index finger and thumb with sticky side down, and stick it on the one side of the box/parcel, pull it from the dispenser and cut it off with the dispenser cutter on another side of the box. This way you can get exactly the length of tape you want for the box. Once you get used to it, you can actually stick it right from the dispenser, then pull the tape out, and cut it off with the dispenser cutter as you stick the tape onto a box or parcel. You don't need to pull it out using finger separately and stick it onto your parcel or box like that.
That's a great tip, looking forward to trying it myself. Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks so much, I just used up all my parents tape for boxes but luckily I had an unopened tape lying around and could not for the life of me figure out how to change it 😅 Thanks again, now I know how to do it!!
Glad the video was helpful, thank you so much for watching!
thank you so much!
You're welcome, Juan. Thanks so much for watching!
Hate those dispensers! They suck! If you just accidentally roll it backwards the tape goes back on the roll, and you have to spend another 20 minutes trying to get a single piece off of it.
Beyond frustrating LOL. Thanks so much for watching, MrSnacko!
Your self deprecating honesty is greatly appreciated. I felt like a complete idiot for not being able to load the new roll of tape inside of the plastic dispenser subsequent numerous tries. There is also the hazard of getting cut on the blade while fiddling around. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video! I enjoyed your Ray Romano speaking style also. :-)
Thanks so much for watching and commenting, Carl! Glad the video was helpful. That's my real speaking style, lots of people have said I sound like Ray Romano though. Wishing you the best!
I want to say thank you for this video cause it sure did help cause this is very difficult to to use and even to put on the Scotch tape but I want to say thank you very much for helping us cuz my husband took like 30 minutes sure did stress him out to put the Scotch tape it seems easy but it's difficult but I want to thank you for helping us to replace the rolling tape and how to use it this video was,is a lot help cause it doesn't come with directions when I bought it I said it's not difficult it's easy just pull the tape out and use it but no it is difficult. Thanks
You're welcome, Maryjane! So glad the video was helpful and thanks so much for watching!
U talk way to much
Thanks for putting up with it, hope the video was helpful!
thank you! im a 34yo adult and didn’t know how to use it lol. tried to figure out it by myself and ended up accidentally scraping my finger 😭
Glad the video was helpful!!! It took me some trial and error to figure it out as well. Thanks for watching and happy holidays!
Omg, THANK YOU! I couldn't freaking figure it out on my own. I feel like an idiot. First it was Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo that I stuggled with (there is a youtube video for that one, so I was not alone lmao). And now reloading packaging tape. I may be an adult but I'm always learning new things haha. Thank you again!
Glad the video was helpful, Sally Cat! Thanks so much for watching, wishing you a great summer!
@@JonathanBrowneMenzies You as well, thanks 😊
Thank you for making this video. I needed to "see" it being done. ;-)
Glad it was helpful, Reesa. Thanks for watching and have a great summer!
No sir, this is not a silly video by any means. Thank you!!
So nice of you, thanks for watching! Happy New Year and best of luck Viteri!
Sorry but this was completely unclear because the camera was set far too close up macro to see what orientation it was in and any of the detail was impossible to see in context. The camera should have been 3 to 4 feet away. Didn't learn what I wanted to find out at all.
Thanks so much for commenting, Cosens-Prior! I appreciate all comments, especially constructive criticism. I'll take your advice into consideration for the next video, stay tuned. In the meantime, wishing you a great summer and thanks for taking the time to watch!
Haha it's crazy you actually sound like Ray Romano. Hes a Comedian well known for his old sitcom show "Every body loves Raymond".
Thanks so much for watching, spawn! I'm a huge fan of Everybody Loves Raymond, but I don't hear the similarities in our voices. You're not the first person to say that though LOL
No it isn't a silly video... I just threw it and had to take a happy pill after I spent 20 minutes trying to do it. Thank you!!!
I know exactly how you feel, geegeebean. Thanks so much for watching, glad the video was helpful!
My wife and I were just watching your video and see and I came to the conclusion that maybe you Oughta show the tool actually taking something up what a waste of my time
Thanks for the feedback, Travis. I'm planning to update this video and I'll incorporate your suggestions into the new one. Wishing you all the best!
All good video but I was also wondering if I was missing something with that double curved edges close to the blade end and the curved tongue at the top. What are they for
Hey Nnamdi, not sure why exactly they went with the extreme double curved design. My guess is the extra plastic provides a buffer, so the exposed tape won't accidentally get stuck on anything. Thanks so much for watching, I really appreciate it. Wishing you all the best!
THANK YOU!!!! Literally was playing with this crap for 20 min as well
You're welcome, AAlicia, glad the video was helpful. Thanks for watching!
though its a simple task, you took the time and effort to make and publish a video. You're a good person :)
I really appreciate your comment, thanks so much for watching, anzetal!
Life saver! Thanks for this. I'm in the process of packing boxes for moving and I thought I was supposed to pull it through the top part as-is. Useful info to know that I needed to take it apart first.
Glad I could help, Eli. Wishing you the best with your move!
Not silly at all. We have been misinformed in one way or another and not much about what we should know or could use in our daily life
Thanks so much for watching and commenting, loveyvo! Glad the video was helpful. Wishing you a great summer!
It is rather ridiculous that we need a video to learn how to load a tape dispenser - thanks 3M for a terrible design. And thanks Jonathan for the video.
Glad the video was helpful, awwj22. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you! Who knew I would need a video explanation to change the tape.....but I did.
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching, Glen!
this may sound funny but I find that the tape is hard to get off the plastic nubs in the front when you need the tape again , tape sticks to it and is hard to get off to use, am I the only one??
Hey Paul, I know what you mean. One suggestion is to fold down a little bit of the tape at the end, so there's a place grab when you need it again. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Not a silly video!! Thank you! I was having a time replacing the tape.
Glad it helped, Jeretha, thanks so much for watching!
I use a small binder clip on the overlapping plastic thing that keeps the sides together, otherwise the sides constantly separate in use. Does anybody know how to keep the tape end from curling back and sticking to the roll, making it annoyingly difficult to peel off the roll again? (I tried jamming a toothpick in the hollow of the two side nubs that are there to try to keep the tape end from falling back onto the roll, and the toothpick was a big improvement, but it soon fell out. Maybe next I'll try a rubber band around the neck behind the toothed cutting blade; perhaps I'll notch the plastic to keep the rubber band from sliding out of position.)
I like your ideas, Williard. You're definitely thinking outside the box. Thanks for watching!
Discipline. EVERY time you use the dispenser, after you cut off the tape, be sure to press the stick-out end of the tape down onto those two little tabs and make the tape stick to the tabs. Do this BEFORE you accidentally back the roll up and the tape can stick to the next layer on the roll. Some people even go further: Before storing the dispenser, wrap the stick-out end AROUND the two tabs and press the middle of the resulting flap and squeeze it so it sticks back to itself. This creates a tab similar to what a new roll has, so to tape another package, you'll have to first pull out and cut off this little tab with the serrated cutter. Well, maybe you can figure it out.
why doesn't tape sit on teeth like a normal tape dispenser? This just dangles below, a bit useless like.
The design of this tape dispenser could be greatly improved, that's for sure. Thanks for watching, RA!
Hahaha .Thank you kindly.... I was getting frustrated!
You're welcome, Lisa. Glad the video was helpful, thanks for watching!
I literally could not figure it out changing it just now so thank you for your video!!
Glad I could help. Thank you for watching, Katherine!
Thank you for this video and I didn't know that the tape could be held in place either when one is using it.
Glad the video was helpful, KingdonCloudStrife. Thanks for watching!!

this was helpful but the adds landed over the images I wanted to see
Sorry to hear that, Mark. I'll see if there's a way to move the ads around, so they don't block important parts of the video. I appreciate the feedback and thanks so much for watching!

It's not silly you taught me Thank you
You're welcome, glad the video was helpful. Thanks for watching, Victoria!
Thank you so much 😭 took me an hour to figure it out
Happy to help! Thanks for watching, Maria!
Ha! I'm never sure which way around the tape is supposed to go onto it, for a start. (Yes, Obviously I should look at the old one first. 😀 But I'm so clumsy that more than once I've dropped them and they've broken and I've tried to load an empty one that I've saved for this very reason!) I still don't really understand what the two little flaps are for and have always wondered whether the tape is supposed to feed through those first, when it's being used or for storage. But from your video it looks as though they are just a sort oi guide to keep the tape up. And at least now I know which way around to put the roll onto the dispenser, which is a big help! Thank you so much for this video.
Thanks for watching, Jennifer, glad you enjoyed the video! Wishing you a great summer!
Great thank you , it's a pain Tho ..lol
Definitely not the most user-friendly tape dispenser. Thanks for watching, Joshua!
Thank you man who sounds like Ray Ramano!
