If that's a uhf insulator on the mainmast backstay you may want to replace that stay. Those can fail

Just got to our sailboat in Santa Barbara California we drove all night from Twin Falls Idaho.. our repairs on the dinghy have paid off motor works great.. The seagulls and pelicans have done a number on the top side spent all day scrubbing yippee.. Had some electrical issues finally got motor running and then took out our sailboat for first time practiced unhooking and recooking to our mooring ball.. success.. it was a wonderful day all around slowly loading the sailboat With tools and items to make repairs.. can only stay till Friday so we are sailing first time on Thursday yippee.. We have a lot to learn and hopefully this time next year be full time sailors.. Thanks for inspiring us toward a better lifestyle.. take care

SO glad to see that you are going to have working radar. So much safer at night and in bad weather. Catalpa just keeps getting better.

Lee and co... for climbing the mast, I built myself a foot climber borrowed from the rock climbing world. I use a static safety line with a prussic knot above a clutch with a web strap. The main lifting halyard is manned by someone in the cockpit taking up slack as I push up on the web strap, take up the slack with the prussic and then repeat. The halyard winches on my boat are a bit undersized for my girth ;-) This system makes for much quicker trips up.

Those bolts looked about a 1/4 turn past German torque. Which, as those of us in aviation, say is either Goudentoigt or Gutensnug, depending on what you're working on 😁 Lee, Sara, be extremely proud of yourselves. You're doing it right. Raised 2 amazing human beings. It has been an absolute joy watching your adventures up till now. Can't believe I'm all caught up. Stuck in the hardstand was good for something, at least lol, excited for the big splash and the continuing voyage of Catalpa II. ❤❤❤❤

When are you guys planning on leaving Rocky point? I will be there June 16 , I can't wait. Missing the ocean and the seafood. I must stop for us as a seafood processing plant to get as much shrimp to bring back home here in Arizona. God bless stay safe and hope you soon get to launch that boat in the water

It must be driving you nuts still being on the hard. Well it shows hard work = long days and being warn out. But not so long until your out at anchor. Cold beer or a case it will be worth it. So work the kids more. HAHAHA

Big difference between super tight and super duper tight is technically a lot. The difference is tight vs FT. I think it has been a while since studying tight things phd.
