- I'm so happy to bring my 100% blind first playthrough of Nine Sols to the channel. This is a 100% blind playthrough, full walkthrough, full playthrough, full gameplay, first time playing, first reaction, first impressions of this awesome new metroidvania in 2024. I was not ready for such a rollercoaster of a finale!! Nine Sols did not hold back, it did not disappoint, and it is easily one of the best games I've played this year. The Nine Sols community is also incredibly awesome. Thank you all for your kindness and thanks for adding to the fun! Let me know what you thought of the game's ending and final boss. Gosh, I just realized now... I think I should re-study the Chinese major.
The way I perceived Heng's messages, Yi had already got all the voicemails but couldn't push himself to listen to them all once he woke up knowing she was already dead 100s of years ago. He slowly goes through them as he progresses through the game.
Also i think Yi's attitude reflects the 5 stages of grief. His anger torwards the Sols for his sister's death led him to acting very aggresive torwards them,sparing only Kuafu (anger). It isn't till he beats Jiequan, and eventually freeing Ethereal that he starts to reflect. Eventually he becomes doubtful, and he laments his regrets in a more reflective manner (depression and even perhaps bargaining). By the time he reads her final message he has allowed himself to reach "acceptance."
Actually, Yi listen the message immediately when he recieved. It's a coincident that Heng's arrive one by one through the game play. New kulun was nearby the pale blue planet(Earth). And the distance between the pale blue planet and painglai is 500 light years. It also take 500 years for Yi to wake up.
That's the difference between true end and nornal end. If Yi did not take time to send apemen to pale blue planet and go fight Eigong directly. He would miss the last message from Heng.
The Red Candle Games has officially announced that they won't be claiming the music copyright of any videos or livestreams for Nine Sols, so there shouldn't be any problems outputting the soundtrack (including the ending theme).

Man i felt empty when i finished this game 100% knowing there is no more to go through. Got me right in the feels.
I accidently forcefully stole one of the map chips first play through so to get all achievements i had to go back through the whole game...felt the exact same way even after a second playthrough. The bosses were just so fun to run through
Congratulations on finishing the game! The moment at 53:55 was truly shocking and moving for me as well. It took me 6 hours to beat the final boss.
By the way, the end credits music doesn't have any copyright issues; the official team has confirmed it.
- If you want to know the non-golden ending, it's just Yi bringing New Kunlun back to Penglai. Even though he and the apemen are working toward a Tianhuo cure, it's clear that nothing is being solved anytime soon.
(Also, there's no third phase for Eigong in non-golden.)
- By process of elimination, I think it's safe to guess that Yi's Sol Seal is "justice", and Eigong's is "knowledge".
- Fun fact: the two "primitive solarians" (the ones whose Tianhuo genes were spliced out) disappear from the research lab after you lock in the true ending (you can see if you go back to that area). Judging by director interviews, those would become the ancestors of cat-kind.
- Shuanshuan's real name, Shuanyuan, is the name of the fabled Yellow Emperor who founded the earliest Chinese civilization. That certainly seems to become a reality in the true ending.
- And of course, Yi gets his name (and bow-wielding) from Hou Yi, the mythological archer who struck down nine of the ten suns so that Earth wouldn't burn. Of course, we only get to see the death of nine Sols in the true ending - which, ironically, includes himself.
No, Yi's Sol Seal is "innovation".

Heck yeah, such a phenomenal boss. The speed and rhythm is so good. Its super hard but also completely fair, so over time you just intuitively start to pick up on the patterns and get in such a flow state. It makes you feel so unstoppable once it all clicks! You did really well. I love seeing how people approach this fight in so many different ways!

I was drawn in by your reactions during the Lady Ethereal fight. Not only have I become a loyal viewer, but I also shared your videos with others who are now eagerly awaiting each of your Nine Sols uploads. Your videos have so many details I love, and I believe your channel will attract more and more viewers.
You chose the true ending, which allows you to fully experience Red Candle's most intricate design-it's awesome. Although in the true ending, none of the characters get what they want, and Shuanshuan and Kuafu endure heartbreaking sorrow, it ultimately brings redemption and hope. I believe this reflects Red Candle's consistent moral viewpoint: only by confronting one's own mistakes, acknowledging and accepting irretrievable losses, can one find peace and stability.
In the other ending, Yi prioritizes the Solarians and doesn’t return the Apemen to the Azure Star. He successfully stops Eigong and takes Shuanshuan and Kuafu back to Penglai. This ending is what Yi, Shuanshuan, and Kuafu all wanted, yet it is pervaded by an inexplicable eerie atmosphere-Shuanshuan, being an Apeman, reports the condition of the ape brain usage to Yi. Everything seems stable, but it feels more like being trapped in a quiet nightmarish loop.
I think the key difference between the two endings is that in the true ending, Yi admits his faults to Shuanshuan, explaining that his loss of parents was due to Yi's plan. Yi’s seal is innovation, and his greatest innovation is overturning his past self, acknowledging and attempting to correct his mistakes, which sets him apart from Eigong. Interestingly, although Shuanshuan wishes to go to Penglai with Yi, it is a sincere but ultimately poor decision. The true ending embodies death and rebirth, and for Shuanshuan, it also requires overcoming the grief of losing loved ones to embrace hope.
Lastly, thank you for your entire Nine Sols series. I enjoyed your thoughts on the story and hope your next game also has a rich narrative.

Though I already know where I'd tear up again :( To me the most heavy part of the ending is before the boss fight LOL Heng my goodness, now everytime when I saw her previously talking about stars, I just can't.

YOU ARE MY FAVORITE NINESOLS GAMEPLAY.
I'm really surprised you found Chien and shanhai 9000 on your first try, there is a commic about them on Red Candle Games website that would absolutely add up to their story, and bedsides that you truly went for the 100% completion and got to know the lore, the characters and even the music(I barely find anyone pay this much attention to OSTs, love you for that).
TBH I cried super hard the first time when I got the ending, 58:47 That line alone totally broke me and I still teared up every time whenever I watched a gameplay. Definitely the best game I've played this year.
Thank you for this series and all the effort you put into, looking forward to another amazing game for you to explore.
Recommend games for you: Little Nightmares(1&2), Detention and Devotion (both are previous games from Red Candle), Darkwood(amazing survival game with super unique gaming style) Though all these have some sort of horror elements in them, just a side note for you if you aren't aiming for these kind of games.
Storytelling games: Detroit: Become Human(Highly recommended, I have a feeling that you would love this game), The Last of Us.
P.S: pls don't worry about copyright for the music in this game, Red Candle had claimed every song in Ninesols won't be taken down on YT or any platform.

Eigong is so incredibly hard, I lost my teeth on her the first time. It was cool to see what you tried and how you slowly but surely mastered the fight. I'm currently playing the game at lvl. 1 (no leveling, no jade, no upgrades) and I'm looking forward to fighting against Eigong again :D
I also absolutely felt for you when you said goodbye to Shuanshuan and the last message from Heng. I cried so much at that scene and the cutscene at the end? It completely broke me. An absolutely wonderful game.
To answer your question: Lady Ethereal and Eigong are my favorite fights. Both are sooooo much fun.

Man i keep seeing other creators play the last fight and its crazy how many different ways there are. During the flaming ranged attack she does, there is a specific point where i do the unbound counter.
Btw the first 2 phases is Eigongs theme, but the last phase is Yi's theme to show that Eigong is now fighting to her last breathe to succeed and that you've successfully gained the upper hand

@@Dreamality its like right before she flings it, you can see the flame animation disappear on the sword then like a half second later. Unfortunately no stun. I just never thought to dodge over it. My build was just a hedgehog primary, keep blocking and then talisman on the small breaks
Also the info on the regular qi blast over the water flow or full control, did not know it did that
First time beating Eigong took about 3+ hours over the span of 2 days, got regular ending. Went back later and got true ending in about an hour, so around 4 hours total to beat Eigong :O

LETS GOOO! Nice job on Eigong, only took you 3 hours? Took me 2 days! It never gets boring watching someone fight her cuz the excitement of beating her is so relatable. Like you said, she's SO fun i didn't even mind losing so much. You learn from every mistake, it feels so overwhelming at first but eventually everything just clicks.
The learning process is soooo satisfying. I'd find myself pulling off an unbound counter at the last second, and by instinct i'd know when to place a talisman. By the time we both got to the third phase we both got more than three heals! By the time i won it felt EARNED.
Glad you had so much fun with this game this was a very fun series!

刑天/Xingtian is a people from the Classic of Mountains and Seas.
They have a human appearance, but have no heads.
Their faces are on their bodies (imagine your nipples become eyes and your navel becomes a mouth), it can also be seen when fighting Xingtian here.
When Yi was chatting with Chiyou earlier, a dialogue was actually triggered (it might be triggered based on the options? I have seen this dialogue from other live streamers), Yi apologized to Chiyou and said that he beat his brother until his head fell off, Chiyou would giggle and say that his brother was so strong that he could still live without his head.

I also thank you for playing this game so hard. It’s rare to see someone playing every aspect of the game, searched every corner of the scene and collected all the treasures and texts.
To reach the true ending of this game, you must meet three conditions: give all the gifts to Shuan Shuan, help Shennong become the new leader, and find the weapon that Lear hid.
This is something that only the most serious people who play this game can do.
Generally speaking, it is not easy to play this kind of multi-ending game to the true ending in one go. Congratulations on beating this game and successfully reaching the true ending.

True Eigong is indeed my favorite boss of the game as well as *the best boss fight I've ever had* in a metroidvania. I still come back to it from time to time because it's that fun.

I completed the standard mode in 30 hours, amazing game really and amazing that you never give up. The story is awesome but it's pretty gruesome and dark, not your typical story for sure.

If you're up for a colorful 3D game with martial arts, look up Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, a prequel to the Zeno Clash series. Set in a somewhat prehistoric, colorful world inhabited by absurd and monstrous creatures, chimeras, monsters and aberrations. Gameplay is solid, writing and voice acting are very good, and the music and atmosphere are genuinely fantastic.
Look up the second and third tracks in the OST, The Boy Calls and Pseudo's Theme, and you will get a taste of what the game and story carries.
Beautiful, ugly, gnarly and awesome.

This is the weird thing about the good ending on this game, it's actually worse than the normal ending. I mean in the good only the apemen and kuafu survive, in the normal ending all solarian and apemen survive, although the solarian is still dying but hey they still got time.
