@@skookapalooza2016 we're testing it with a jet drive this summer and then depending on how that goes we're going to look at making a couple more fore sale... Watch this space!
Any issues with salkwater on the breaking system? Also, is this vehicle legal on the road? I want to make my own so I can reduce a 1.5 hr drive to work reduced to 30 min by crossing the bay and avoiding traffic.
Since that video I've removed the prop and replaced it with a jet drive, definitely has better thrust than with the prop that was cavitating all the time, still got overheating issues aswell so it's getting a water cooled heat exchanger for next summer... And maybe a paint job....
Ok so why have I only learnt about your work now? I guess its a bonus because I can catch up without actually waiting for you to do the work. Congratulations on what i think is the most discretely car shaped amphibian ever. And I've seen a few - it's a kind of minor obsession of mine. Your work is great! Now I'm 5 ish years from retiring as a mechanical design engineer and this looks like a great project for that time. Would you be interested in selling me the complete SolidWorks pack and go file? Could we discuss something? Thanks
i wonder how it would do in a ohio river with waves? also how fast/far can it go in the water? o always wanted to make a car thats amphibious that can be a floating house boat at night and take you to work in the morning and to the store etc.
Hello, can you tell me which Brand of Coupling do you use in your Jeep for the waterdrive? A Friend of me is a owner of a Dutton Surf amphibious car and has a lot of trouble with the coupling in his car. When your Car is in Water, are the Tires deactivated and only the waterdrive is turning? Thx a lot from Germany.
Hi there everything was custom made or heavily modified, I made my own PTO and clutch for the jet drive and modified the Suzuki t case to have an extra neutral so the wheels are disengaged from the water jet.... Unfortunately the Dutton stuff is very badly made which is why I built my own jeep! Good luck!
@@marktgsxr Thank you for your answer, du you have some pictures of the modifications? We have a lot of trouble with the original dutton stuff and want to improve the gears. We have installed an electric clutch and have no idea how we can change the gears in the transmission to get an extra neutral. Thanks!
Thanks mate, I'm pretty pleased with it, just trying to get it a bit more refined now and work out some of the bugs! Be nice to stick two fingers up at the ferry companies 😂
Yeh it's pretty good!, it's not the fastest thing in the water but it's ability to get in and out with out the use of a slipway or perfect beach is what makes it special... There's hopefully still a bit of room for improvement tho! Were in the process of fitting a jet drive now!
Wow. This is almost exactly what I have been drawing and planning for 30 years. Do you think you will make a kit or plans ???
There is a plan to possibly build a few as a kit... We've got a few more refinements to do first and a lot more testing...
I'd love to buy one just like it. I realize doors would add another layer of complexity...but it would still be cool even if it's not necessary.

I’d like one of these. Anyway I could get one in the USA?

Cool, I was wondering how this was coming along.
This was ages ago!, I'm just pretty slack with editing/uploading.... It's even better now tho, just trying to get it finished off for the summer!
@@marktgsxr Cool, I look forward to it. Figured this looked like last summer.
spectacular !
Thanks, I'm glad someone likes it LOL
That things amazing Mark
