I like your philosophy on completing the trail. I live in Nova Scotia and feel it's a great place to live when preparing for the AT, I can get used to being uncomfortable in all seasons and in all types of terrain. I'm still about a decade away from doing it though, so until then I'll live vicariously through people like yourself! I'm looking forward to following your journey.
Good for you. I first hiked on the AT as a Boy Scout in 1966. In 1974, I attended a Warren Doyle talk about his AT thru hike. I wanted to go with his group hike in 1975 but, I had an Army obligation. Now, I'm too old(its not just the age, its the mileage). I've been following hikers for years now. Be sure to treat all of your outer clothing and gear with permethrin. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
Good for you Kevin. I look forward to following you on this adventure. I think you have the right attitude and sticktoitness to make it happen number 4!
I am looking forward to following your journey. I'm happy to see you're getting to live your dream. Thanks for vlogging and letting me follow along. Congratulations, be safe, have a blast
Kevin: Great news. I'm 100% behind you here with good luck and best wishes. Wish I could go with you but maybe now I can talk Senior Hiker into doing a trip or two on the PMT with me while you are living the dream. He and I are closer to the same age. Anyway, great news and I know you can do it. John from Newnan......
Kevin! Man I am so excited for you. The "Odds" are in your favor. I agree you have acknowledged & accepted that most important mental step. That Kriz quote I love it. Hope some point along your adventure I can trail angel. 👍👍👍
Congratulations Kevin. You are so right about the mental part. That's what killed my last hike attempt. Looking forward to seeing your progress, and rooting for you all the way. Cant wait to hear about it. Question, starting out, what kind of milage are you doing in the beginning. I find myself struggling doing over 7 right now, and with that find too much time in camp and hard to deal with being cold. Best of luck to you!!
I like that squak you showed. I'd appreciate your help with sizing. Can you share what size you bought and your height & weight so that I can reference to buy the right size? I hate buying on line for that reason but I've been looking for an alternative to the melly too!
I bought a 3x. I am 5ft 11 and probably about 290. I used to be close to 400 lbs. My friend who hiked with us is about 240 and 5ft 10 he got the 3x and felt like he should have got a 2x. Squak mountain company is the company. Use the code WALKERSWORLD to get 15 percent off your purchase. ua-cam.com/users/shorts1DVD6hjmrVs?si=MFtDJ6b6LE366VVm Thanks for watching.

I am steady 8 miles a day just as I was on the foothills trail. I have to build up those trail legs. Thanks Max.
Too cool
Yes it was! Not missing the temps in the teens this week.
Are you going to test your system on Saturday lol
@TheMccluref No possibly 3-5 inches of snow up there. I dont think I want to experience that.
You get to really “embrace the suck”!
I will call it embracing the moment.
