I’m really sad that ZJK retired. When I watch him play, he easily could’ve become (on paper) the greatest table tennis player of his time. Def my favorite player second to Vladimir Samsonov

Chinese players retired young because upcoming players improve very rapidly. Unlike in other countries where top players still play till over 40, once they retire, very seldom that new players will reach the same standard.

Except that’s not true at all lmao. Outside of Fan Zhendong, all Chinese players nowadays are super inconsistent and are pretty beatable. Tell me a newcomer after Fan Zhendong that even scratches Ma Long/Zhang Jike/Xu Xin era of players…yah, no one lol. And please don’t say Lin Gaoyuan who got destroyed by Harimoto and many foreign players lol.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the current Chinese Male Group team gets defeated by countries like Germany and Sweden, let alone a singles or doubles where there are plenty of players from Japan like Harimoto and the above two countries, and of course many more.
The Chinese players didn’t retire young because they wanted to change it to the new generation. It’s simply due to 1) failure of young generations to come up during the old generations prime years, which is FORCING them to play during mid 30’s, 2)so many injuries.
Zhang Jike was injury prone while Xu Xin was sent to retirement home by Mizutani after he got owned by him in two straight Olympics lol.

ZJK has the most attractive looking playing style after Xu Xin then Timo Boll then maybe Lin Yun-Ju and Freitas.
I'd take his style over Xu Xin any day!

@@shay3514 Right, but his backhand is no where near as cool or explosive as Zhang Jike or FZD it's great for blocking and defending and opening up the rally and he's improved as he is getting older and can't rely on pivoting as much but it's not as cool as zhang jike's explosive BH flick and insanely fast counters. In trems of look ZJK'S forehand does not look any worse than ma long's. His playstyle is just way more fun to watch in my opinion

My step-sibling is a member of the Chinese national table tennis team. She is sexually assaulted by the chief coach, she is forced to change her competition pattern and also her racquet rubber, and yes, she is exiled to España becoming a member of the overseas contingent. I can’t tell you her name, we are broken and she needs to sustain the relation to Chinese institutions.
What I can tell you is, the Chinese Table Tennis Team definitely is a tool of this manipulation system, we can't neglect how many players got ruined by this system, rather than focusing on the top players.

I didn’t mention that sport is never independently presenting itself, but as a spokesman to its sponsors.
China sports industry is not a free market just like all the other fields, and table tennis is its' biggest name card to propagate and infiltrate the sharp strength to overseas.
You have the right to be intoxicated with this sport, but don’t become a part of the Chinese toxic system.
