Thank you for showing the entire model and where you place the highlight and shadows. It's a massive help. So many NMM videos on UA-cam only focus on one leg, or just the chest plate and it makes following along and actually learning the entire process too difficult.
Every time I look up techniques for whatever project I am working on, I keep coming across your video's and they just fit my needs so much better. Especially because I paint mini's and do gunpla, it's like youtube said I needed my own hobby youtuber LOL. Thank you for your videos Don, they are super informative, simple to follow and hard to master!
when I first saw the pic I thought you just base painted yellow and did a contrast paint style heavy wash of brown, but clearly you had to put a lot more work into it to build up those volumes, well done buddy!
The video is very easy to follow ... get a result similar to yours without going through "disasters" I think it's quite unlikely anyway 😅🤣 As soon as I find the courage and the right subject, this will be the video that I will rotate in the background while I paint Bro ... little but sure 🤣
Brilliant again, sir. I only have the Game Color and Extra Opaque ranges available to me - could you tell me if Game Color Leather Brown, Plague Brown and Moon Yellow are 3 suitable shades to start with? If not, what 3 would you pick out of those 2 paint ranges? Thanks a lot!
Those are awesome paints bro! Moon Yellow is beautiful, but so vibrant. So you just have to tone it down a bit with washes or inks. I think I should paint with Game colors a bit more. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
I think that the selection of colors is secondary to the placement of highlights and intensity of contrast. It's crazy what some painters can do with obscure colors! That's why I tend to fail; my brain doesn't seem to understand highlights properly :(
Hi! I came across your channel today and I know I will stay there. Your tutorials are really good for such noobs as me :D But, I have a little question- so firstly we are sketching all highlights and shadows, and once its done, we just blend them with glazes, right?
@@DonSuratos thank you very much for answer! Honestly I feel like glazing or layering with mixed colors make no difference for me, as I am beginner. Im not good at any of them so I will just do it a little by one and a little by second method. Just ordered paints that you used and hopefully in 2 days I can start doing it! Thank you for such great explanation and video 😊
So... you said this isn't the way you would paint nmm, but just a simplified way to do it. So how would you paint nmm? Like the leg armour of the demon cat?
I mean, I wont paint via basic layering... instead will do mu usual glayering - glaze layering. Glayering will produce softer edges and will be easier to glaze and blend. ☺️
I posted everything at Patreon... but the thinning sauce for airbrushing is jst thinner and flow improver. Highlight sauce is just watered down retarder medium. 😊
Ganda po ng vid! sir question lang po, newbie palang ako with limited colors in set, pwde na po ba yung vallejo model color white yung pang highlight for any non-metalic metal paints? wala kase akong nung mga nasa vid nyo sir hehe..
Very cool effect! Well done Don. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father (God), but by me." John 14:6
"The ugliest looking part of NMM" ugliest he said...would be VERY happy if my NMM attempts looked half as good as your "ugliest looking part" nice work m8. Saludos!!
I see people asking you to use other brand acrylic paints all the time despite being sponsored. 😂😂😂😂 in reality, it really shows any good paint brands gets stuff done.

Oh I see... I rarely watch other videos, except Sergio Calvo videos. You are most welcome. Thanks for watching! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Very impressive
Old work… but thanks! 😊
Excellent tutorial, thanks.
The Smokey ink is so convenient for many things, like leathers too.
Thank you! Glad you liked the video! 😊🎨🎨🎨
Nothing at all wrong with referencing Sergio. Great video for beginners this
Thanks for watching! ☺️🎨🎨🎨

Another great Golden Lemon guide for NMM! ;-)
Oh I forgot to mention Golden Lemon! I was so focused on making this guide as simple as I can. 😅
I think this is a much better version than the previous copper one ... thank you for the tutorial
Yeah, noted on the copper, thus I painted browns and smokey ink a lot less. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
The video I've been waiting for :) thx!
Awesome! You are most welcome! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Thanks as always Mark! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
thank you for using valejo paints in your guide ! Once I ll try NMM gold
You are most welcome! 😊🎨🎨🎨
Great step by step. Thanks for putting this out there Don. I look forward to giving this a try. 👍
Awesome! Thanks for watching! 😊🎨🎨🎨
Me after Don finishes his first base coat: 🤯🤯🤯
Why bro? 😅 Just 3 thin coats. 2 thin coats if you thinned the paint less. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Excellent job Don. Keep up the great posts 👍👌🍺
Thank you as always A. Burns! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Found the complete video, thanks
Hope you find the full video useful. 😊🎨🎨🎨
when I first saw the pic I thought you just base painted yellow and did a contrast paint style heavy wash of brown, but clearly you had to put a lot more work into it to build up those volumes, well done buddy!
That will work too! But the wash will dictate where it goes too much. Will work best on smaller gold nmm details. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Lovely stuff. Well explained 😜
Haha! Thank you Basil! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
I love this tutorial and I wanna know instead of Vallejo what citadel paints would you use?
You’re great dude. Subscribed
Thanks for the sub! 😊🎨🎨🎨
Great video Man! Very informative, no nonsense, good fun!
Thank you! Glad you liked the no nonsense approach. ☺️🎨🎨🎨

Such a cool technique! Still a bit of a challenge, but you’ve made it much easier to understand!
Promise its easy, did it for less than 3 hours I think. Thanks for watching! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
excellent tutorial, going to give it a try, but what is your highlight sauce?
Thank you Dean! The Highlight sauce is just a watered down Vallejo Retarder Medium. I thinned it around 6 parts water : 1 part retarder medium. ☺️
Well thank you very much! Note my British sarcasm there, as I've just had to go and buy 4 new paints to try this out :D
Hahaha! Happy painting then! Should be fun bro! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Love your work, how can I get an exclame of the background on your table? The one where you have a color wheel and the mixes ?
Thank you! The painting mat is available at the Redgrassgames website sir. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Excelent!!!
Saludos
Gracias! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Ey! Looks good
thank you! I cannot finalize though, as I might overdo the highlights or the shadows. Need to paint the rest of the model first. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Keep up the great work dude , shout out from South Africa
@@loydmorton9134 Thank you so much bro! ☺️🎨🎨🎨

Totally agree as colors being secondary... but it is kinda tricky to teach where the highlights should be. But will try next time. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
@@DonSuratos Please do! I try to take in as many suggestions as possible and hopefully one day it'll click in my head!
U r not alone
magnifique thank for the tuto
Gracias! 😊🎨🎨🎨
Thank you for such a great video! What miniature is the demon cat in the beginning?
Its from Warhammer. Forgot the name sir. 😊
how do you paint the hard to reach area, such as the inner area of the neck section after painting the armor?
I paint it with a smaller brush and paint before the head. ☺️
I just call it "fake metal" - easier to pronounce. Great video, very educational; thanks for posting.
Haha... yes... maybe Faux Metal? Glad you liked the video! 😊🎨🎨🎨
@@DonSuratos Faux metal...hahaha, that sounds even better! (y)

@@DonSuratos that...make a lot of sense actually
@@AB-ik2nc Yes bro. But I just wanted this to be very basic, and I kinda regret it. Glayering was a better method as always. 😅
How do I get the formula for a bottle of the highlight and thinning sauce? 🤔
