  • Bonjour! In this video, I show you how I style my daughter's hair using a leave-in conditioner, a spray bottle, a diffuser and some coconut oil.
    This is a routine I do once a week after I wash her hair. She is a mixed race kid with dense curly hair that has 2 distinct textures.
    I hope it helps some of you.
    Here's a few like of my videos you might enjoy:

    I'm very proud of you, that you took time to learn her hair and apply moisture , so many people have mixed kids and they don't know what to do with it and ultimately end up putting a relaxer in it instead of taking time to educate themselves like you have here, your daughters hair is beautiful!

    Props to you for learning your daughter's hair and taking great care of it. My mixed daughter has curly hair to her waist and most of it has more of a dry Afro texture. I spend hours on wash day but it's worth it. Her hair is healthy and beautiful.

    this is useful for salon people because they don't know how to compensate for mixed texture on same head! I have some curly, wavy and dry spongy areas too and parts that have straightened over time from flat ironing and wearing a bun! Such a challenge. I love what you did for her...u both are so beautiful and exotic!! The movement of it is so pretty. curly or wavy hair can often get too big and poufy, so that moisture helps weigh it down but not too much and still looks very touchable- soft! (Y)

    Your little one is adorable! And best of all, you can see that she loves and trusts you. My daughter had crazy spiral curls (we didn’t know where they came from) until we were looking at her papa’s baby pictures. And then, BAM. Someone had her papa’s curls! As she has gotten older, she has learned to manage the curls and to use good products/lotions. Lots of natural coconut oils and cocoa butter oils. Not heavy but gently. Spiral curls about 1/2” and just do what her wanted to do❤️

    I want to do this for my granddaughters hair. It could be so beautiful but I don't think she knows how to care for it or isn't into caring for her hair yet. She just always has it in a pony and it gets a bit frizzy from that. It was always soft with soft ringlets as a little one, she's 13 now. Thank you so much you have a beautiful daughter.

    I have hair very similar!! My mother didn't know how to really take care of her curls or mine, though. Lots of conditioner mixed with water in a spray bottle while I cried having my hair brushed every morning before school. Tonnes of mousse in her own hair (not necessarily bad). I'm just learning how to properly take care of my hair now around 23 years old. The ringlets are hard to take care of, but I'm worth it ❤

    I've seen so many mixed kids with nappy dry hair in a ratty ponytail and the mom has no understanding or care to learn the proper way to care for mixed hair I see it alot its neglectful. I'm not black or have mixed kids but I'm in a mixed family and hair care is an ABSOLUTE in my family I've reached out a few moms and they basically either said isn't got time or it's not my concern. Watching these videos are so refreshing and nice to see beautiful healthy hair..

    OH MY GOD I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! And your daughter is absolutely beautiful and adorable she looks just like her Mama 🥰 I love this method and am going to try it on my daughter because her hair REALLY REALLY needs it. I am hoping she is going to let me and sit still for that long she is 3 and my youngest of 3 kids but she is also my only mixed child and I have NO CLUE! What to do with her hair, her dad always tells me when I pick her up to do her hair but you would think he would know more about her hair type and how to take care of it then me. But NOPE! If I don't do it he will send her to his 2nd baby mama and she is just too rough with her hair but gets it done.

    Love! My daughter is only 16 months now, but her hair is thick like your baby. I think my daughter will have hair like yours in the front and much curlier in the back. I'm pretty much doing what you are doing just with only about 4 inches of hair now. I'm using Cantu products specifically made for textured hair though-you should look into them. Same prices as the Garnier products, but way less chemicals and additives that can dry already dry hair.

    • @LuisaLouis
      @LuisaLouis  6 років тому

      Hello Mary Kinnamon. I have been using Cantus products on Ella and it's a little too heavy for her hair. Right now I like to use Maui leave-in, it works very well for her hair type and just like Cantus, its a more natural option. Thanks a lot for your comment and sharing your routine with us. And great job on caring for your little baby's hair!

    Your daughter is adorable. Thanks for hair tutorials. My great granddaughter is biracial and she will be 4in January. She hates having her hair detangled. We have her a couple of weekends a month. Her mom washes it once ever week to a week and a half. When Trinity is here I try to co wash with conditioner while she plays in the tub. Then use a detangle spray and a leave in conditioner. After detangling I use a leave in curling custard or another moisturizing product. It still looks dry. How do you slick back the hair and have it look shiny? Merci beaucoup for your tutorials. I forwarded this one to my granddaughter to teach more ways to work with her daughters hair.

      Do you and your daughter have black in your blood. My son is yours and your daughter skin color with the same texture hair as yours. My son is what you would call mix. Me his mom is black and his dad is white. That's why I asked the question if you and your daughter have black mixed in your bloodline. The both of you have African or Black features. The nose, and lips.

    • @LuisaLouis
      @LuisaLouis  7 років тому +1

      Yes Jo Freeman, we do. I got my African features from my mother (she was West Indian) and Ella gets hers from me and her father who’s black from the West Indies. I hope this answers you question 😊

      Thanks a lot for your tip and nice comment Twd Fan441. I have changed a little the way I style my daughter's hair since I filmed this video. I do a lot less hand curling and let her hair do its thing a lot more so it looks more natural 🙂

  • @mariacarlamazza5684

    My mother is carribean and my father italian. I have mixed hair, but they are wavy between...2c and 3a I think...they are damaged. And find the best products to have good hair is very difficult (I haven't found one yet). I think I'll buy something for mixed hair when I'll go to Carribeans.
    Ps: what a beautiful baby! 😊

      Thank you Maria Carla Mazza! Try deep conditioning your hair more often. I saw a big difference in moisture retention when I start doing 2 masques a week. Hope that helps. Good luck 😉

    Don't know if this only applies to caucasian hair since I live in a mainly white city but I had a summer job at a salon and I'm going to college next year for hairstyling. Coconut oil doesn't soak into the root of your hair or any follicles, it just stays on the top. It can make it so hair has a harder time absorbing other things you put in it (for example, I've seen this problem a LOT where a client who puts oils in their hair comes in and once we try to bleach or dye it the dye won't completely go in so there's spots of the original colour. It happened to my hair as well since I used to use coconut oil all the time). It can also fry your hair. You know how if you put oil on your skin or on a pan it makes both heat up or burn quicker? That's basically what it does to your hair, so if you're in the sun or blow drying it you may unknowingly fry it. I'm not trying to hate or anything, I dont know much about your hair type or if it's different for you guys; I just don't want to see anyone with hair damaged horribly like the girls in the salon or my own hair. Thanks for the video btw! Your daughters gorgeous and I didn't know it took that much to style curly hair

      Hello A Clyde. Thank you so much for this great comment. Is that the case with coconut oil only or any type of oil?

    • @bigbird1168
      @bigbird1168 7 років тому

      As far as I know it's the same with any oil. I'm not sure what else would work. If you have a Sallys around they probably have a leave in conditioner or something that would work. Wish I could help more! Sorry

      All oils are created differently... coconut oil is not the type to be absorbed as much as say jojoba or olive oil ... coconut oil how she used it is perfect since you used it to seal in moisture after she applied water and leave in conditioner etc.

    I am going to try this style. I think you trained your daughters curls doing this style. I have not found a style for my daughter that will last. Her texture is very close to your daughter's hair. I have to detangle and moisturize her hair every day. Once it dries it tangles right back up no matter what I do. She won't leave it in a pony tail. I'm going to try this style and see how we like it.

    • @LuisaLouis

      Hello Amy. I have to detangle and moisturize my daughter's hair every day too. It is easier when you braid it or put it up. I will share a link to my playlist on all the videos about my daughter's hair: ua-cam.com/play/PLyQn5DJxweMQnwFDvFnYTk_J3Gi56HR8t.html

    You and your daughter are so beautiful, her hair is so pretty!!!😍 Garnier Frutis isn't the best hair product it has certain of mineral oil that clogs the pores stoping hair growth. You should try EDEN BodyWorks leave in conditioner and pudding souffle its 16oz and its less than $10 dollars.
