I was told recently that we are supposed to give our gross pay in tithe and I’ve been tithing my net pay. So have I been doing it wrong? Cus I thought since I tithe my income tax that this is the gross pay that was taxed throughout the year. I’m so confused. Am I doing it wrong?

    • @markb7067

@@carlitawashington Biblically, you aren't required to tithe at all. There's no such thing as a biblical tithe received from earned wages so the question of "gross vs. net" is irrelevant. We are free to give, not bound to pay.

The Church was never instructed to tithe. Tithing is one of the Mosaic Laws.

We are not obligated to tithe. The tithe was from what the people harvested and went to the levites who had no land. The primitive church gave and held all things in common. They did not tithe. They met in homes they did not build church buildings, buy land etc.

I want to give up but and quit but even though it’s hard I keep faith because I trust in God. It is he’s will. I keep faith even as I struggle to take care of my children. The past two years have been hard on me. I’m a single mom. I suffered an heart attack and I’m battling lupus. Both of my sons are autistic and to be honest Heavenly Father I’m so overwhelmed. I’m constantly struggling to buy groceries and struggling to pay my rent and now that I’m home schooling my sons I’m struggling to buy their school supplies. I want to give up. But even in hard times I know I must choose to have faith. No matter our struggle, we can turn to God. He knows us personally and can give us strength to overcome our challenges. I Trust in YOU LORD PLEASE HEAR MY PRAYERS!

Wow, you certainly are going through a lot, but all suffering leads to better things. 🙏Please don’t give up, everyone’s going through something so reach out to god and thank him for what he has given you, and for what he will give you in the future. Just curious, are you on welfare? Or on food stamps? You could also go to a local food bank for help, anyways I’m sure things will turn out well, I will pray for you 🙏.

Keep seeking Heavenly Father’s guidance everyday as far as your health and children’s health… natural remedies work!! Find a good homeschool co-op to assist you and an autism support or information group…
Although you all may have specific diets, many food banks have fresh produce and healthy foods…
Give us this day our daily bread… He provides for each day… don’t worry about tomorrow…

Paul never tells the church to give a "tithe"... BUT he DOES tell us to be (givers). When we give to his kingdom it's out of gratitude of what he's done in our lives. Therefore, some may give 1, 2, 5, 10 or even 100% of their income. The bottom line everyone is in a different place. Do NOT let condemnation enter your heart. Give with gratitude NOT out of obligation. ❤🙏🇺🇸

This isn't even a relevant biblical question. Biblical tithes weren't received from earned wages. Monetizing the tithe as a deliverable was man's idea after the Bible was written. One can tithe or not tithe per their own discretion.

Tithe first! God will supply your needs. Malachi 3:10 says “Bring all the tithes ( the tenth ) into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “ if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you ( so great ) a blessing until there is no more room to receive it. 11 “ Then I will rebuke the devourer ( insects, plague ) for your sake and he will not destroy the fruits of the ground, nor will your vine in the field drop its grapes ( before harvest ), says the Lord of hosts.
This is the only time that we are told to test the Lord is in our tithing.

Malachi 3:10 is probably the most frequently mistranslated scripture. It's almost always removed from it's context. if one reads the entire book of Malachi it's evident that the narrative is specific towards the nation of Israel (Malachi 1:1) and is further narrowed towards the Levitical Priests (Malachi 1:6 and 2:1). The tithe indictments in chapter 3 can't be universally applied with historically or currently. The "storehouse" was a room in the temple where consumable items were kept. The "windows of heaven" is a reference to rain.
So, this passage isn't about anybody today "testing God" and it has nothing to do with money. It was an indictment to the Priests for not bringing the whole tithe, the best parts, into the temple so that the sacrificial system of atonement could be carried out as put forward under Mosaic Law.
