It's not illegal as long as they process a refund. I dont think it should even get close to even thinking it's illegal. Even big box retailers are doing cancellations for prismatic but not because of price, but because they are short allocation. People need to properly fuel their energy correctly, by naming and shaming companies that are cancelling and relisting pre orders at a higher price and never shopping from them again and encouraging their friends, family and members of the community to not give them their hard earned money.

Pokémon could be in a bubble about to pop. Reason being everything keeps going up in price, old stuff and pre orders! Inner 2 kind of leads into number 3 and that’s that Pokémon will do some giant print runs on things like surging, prismatic, etc. in the near future causing the bubble to pop. Pokémon’s target audience is kids and when kids can’t get there hands on products and it’s all adults idk I worry about the future of pokemon because if kids can’t get it they won’t be exposed to it and won’t be interested in it so when adults decide to move on or Pokémon stops being investable which is fun for adults then Pokémon will take a downturn
There are definitely some distributors raising first wave pricing. And will do even more second wave. The reputation hit from the ten ppl that preordered and they can’t fulfill doesn’t matter for a LGS. Someone will find their inventory and grab it immediately. But this market is terrible. Pokemon vending machines have popped up locally and everyone is scalping those as well. Waiting for restocks and buying them out. 151 and surging flooding marketplace weekly
Big box literally never fails. My last resort is a LGS. Why would I want to go pay market instead of MSRP?? Sure maybe your Target is out, wait it out or buy singles. Literally no reason to pay market unless you’re nostalgia hunting.
Wow that sucks. These are the stores you shouldn’t continue shopping with. I understand stores were struggling the last 2 years or so with English but there are also stores out there that offer fair pricing or at least at or close to msrp. When 151 came out, I bought 2 booster bundles at release day for $85. I didn’t know better. To this day I don’t give that store my business. My local LGS sells product no mater what it is 5-20% under msrp.
Guys don't bother with pre-orders and initial market prices.. Pokemon will continue printing this set till the end of 2025, they have planned a lot of releases for it. Booster bundles will be released in March and I'm sure prices will go down after that. Don't fall for the FOMO that everybody is feeling right now
Major distributions like GTS ,southern and PHD have not raised their prices on any prismatic items. Maybe if they restock a week later it’s possible but not for initial release. The store claiming that just think people must be stupid. Yes allocation is bad (mine are horrible from all my distro) but no price change. Alex and the rest are correct in terms of that.
I don't think you understand how any of this actually works based on your comment... Due to them being an online shop, they don't have an official distro source. Instead, they are forced to use a middle man service that can at any point change their prices. Rob describes exactly why this happens in the video ~ the middle man knows they have no other choice but to continue buying from them. The only difference here is that instead of it being a massive company eating the losses to save face, it is a small family run online store that lacks massive corporate coffers. This is why anyone who has been in the card collecting hobby for longer than a single bull run would know that preordering from online stores is a massive gamble. If they don't have real distro, they are at the mercy of the market rather than having clauses in agreements stipulating no price change like a brick and mortar would have.
I got lucky and managed to get some pre-orders from big box retailers. (given, it was more than $60 per ETB), but I think the huge benefit is that I don't need to worry about it getting canceled.
That is good. We don't want t the watermelon getting any more cranky. Seriously though, unless you got a solid LGS (which many do have) that seems to be the way to go right now.
If the lcs arent sure of the allocation and price then wait til you get the confirmed info and then put out your preorder... no need to do 3 months early to drop the preorder or simply dont do preorder at all... simple as that...not worth the backlash from customers smh
on reddit someone posted about an Australian store getting there "2nd wave" of prismatic around may/june... So anyone in the comments. Expect to not get any prismatic at MSRP anytime soon. Also to comment about reputation, yes reputation is so big for a business and these dudes are just throwing it away nickel and diming customers. Me personally, I would have sold around $10 bucks above MSRP or something similar to what Retail stores are doing which is $54.99 and not $49.99 as customers will understand what's happening but at the same time isn't such a detrimental increase or a "punch to the face" to the customers for a slight increase. They will understand. Now a business going from $49.99 to $100-120... yea try explaining that to your customer. There's a balance that these LGS do not understand
That fact that people are having anxiety and worrying about missing out BEFORE its even released has turned me off to Pokemon card collecting at the moment. I wont participate in this type of environment where you have to wonder and keep checking if you will get it or not. No thanks..
I got 1 on the Pokemon center being extremely lucky and fortunate then I called it good. If I were to get any more I will wait until way after the release date until these are out whether they are wildly viable or not I’ll take my chance.
UK SSP My sealed case order was never honoured as the seller said most of their delivery were loose boxes and to wait (until I lost patience and got my refund). Whereas the other main seller managed to honour all sealed cases to my other contacts. Make of that what you will.
it's a binding contract, plain and simple. these sellers need to honor their word, suck it up and go source for the product to fulfil the orders, even if it means making a loss. buyers who ordered and paid a deposit are essentially offering these sellers 'interest-free loans' only for them to refund later. total bs.
Honestly I feel like this set is going to be printed like crown zenith, eventually everybody and their momz are going to be able to find it on the shelves and online for retail or below, especially when that the last sets come out for S&V , online wholesellers are making a big mistake marking this set up for so high -
EB games just released a statement saying the majority of preorders for ETBs wont be fullfilled until APRIL/MAY. Meaning even the mid year restock might be sold out before its even released. I dont think people realise how bad the supply v demand really is for this set. If stores can't even fullfill preorders, how much stock do you think will be available at release date? I doubt much at all. Strap in because this set is going to skyrocket in price like nothing we have ever seen.
silver lining: thank you eb games for holding my order for me. i get to use them as my storage unit when the set hopefully appreciates over the months!
id love to know if anyone ordered on the 9th, cause i swear i ordered the night it got released for pre order which was the 10th, same night as jb hifi
It hard to believe the sellers getting chraged more. Its just a way to scalp and it makes for bad sentiment in the hobby. The community should come together and not support these jokers who are canceling individuals pre orders. If they cant carry out their promise on locking in a future order they should not be putting up pre orders.
thank goodness i ordered everything from big box stores and Pokemon center where they don’t cancel lol. and no lie these sellers aren’t lien my friends owns a card shop and he showed me his bill and i told him to cancel because distributors are charing insane prices he was getting poster collectings for $22 bucks when there 15 and binders for 45 and etbs for $65 each. no lie i dont blame stores for canceling there not going to make anything
No surprise, a lot of scalping, if you order +6 etbs and the pre sale price skyrocketing. Stores are gonna honor 1 or 2 but def stores are not gonna lose money over people that are selling their pre orders at 3x msrp 😢
Just to clarify, I dont justify stores doing that , but I understand , most of Them are honoring their price over 1 or 2, which shows good faith. Never pay those crazy pre sale pre sale price!
Thank you. It is a pain in the ass, dude. I have to clap to match sound, export the sound, clean it up in Adobe podcast, line up the waves in capcut, export again, and THEN start editing the actual video. Thank you for noticing.

Another reason I stopped supporting local LGS they overcharge and what am I’m supposed to support local but having my bank account pay the price no thanks, I believe most LGS stores will be closed within 5 years
Nothing wrong with game stores charging more for popular items. Whats wrong is posting pre orders before they know their numbers charging customers then refunding to sell based on the market. Having to pay more for a popular item is one thing. But a customer should not have to supplement bad business practices. Thats an unsustainable business model and should fail and be replaced with something better. Free market baby. Call these businesses out. How are people not supposed to support them if they dont know who they are.
Distribution is not raising prices on there initial orders. That's not how it works. I call BS. They places orders long before all the pre orders were even up. They just aren't getting all the allocation they expected. Its pure greed. I only got 3 dozen products and I presold almost all of it and I am fulfilling them orders for what my customers paid.

if businesses pre order then they take the chance on losing money if product comes in higher so sad to bad why should the customer get the brunt of the price change? would these businesses lower prices if they overpaid for a box? nope example--dave and adams didnt lower prices of topps chrome baseball when a promised feature was taken out of why one would buy the box they said 'its topps fault' but they had np taking pre orders selling at 650 a box market prices determined w/o that feature it was worth 250-300 customers had to eat the cost on the pre order so should businesses when it happens in reverse needless to say dave and adams reputation is a shitty one cuz of that and many other shady practices they engage in

This is a pretty epic comment. Could do a whole video on this!
@ please do! I have so many takes or opinions on this stuff I love to tune in to everyone’s take on things
Exactly! Lots of stores are doing the right thing IMO. They just don't get the publicity. I will try and keep a note of them and do a video.
LGSs tossing out their customer trust while also having their allocations cut by Pokémon. Smart move guys. Let see how it plays out.
Big box stores to the rescue 📦 📦 or like you said just buy japanese
Big Box gonna replace the LGS the way things are going
@@BeefyTacoCScouldn’t have said it any better!
I only preordered from Pokemon center and GameStop, anywhere else is too risky for me
I got lucky and managed to get some pre-orders from big box retailers.
I wish there were more people in business with your ethics.
Too kind 🥃🥃🥃
That fact that people are having anxiety and worrying about missing out BEFORE its even released has turned me off to Pokemon card collecting at the moment. I wont participate in this type of environment where you have to wonder and keep checking if you will get it or not. No thanks..
I got 1 on the Pokemon center being extremely lucky and fortunate then I called it good. If I were to get any more I will wait until way after the release date until these are out whether they are wildly viable or not I’ll take my chance.
I had my case canceled for $630 cad with the same guys, I’m guessing we’re in the same Canadian groups 😂
Ordered 3 cases and all got cancelled as my supplier only got
4 etbs
UK SSP
My sealed case order was never honoured as the seller said most of their delivery were loose boxes and to wait (until I lost patience and got my refund).
Whereas the other main seller managed to honour all sealed cases to my other contacts.
Make of that what you will.
The Fusion Strike box is giving me anxiety lol is gonna fall soon Rob! 😂
it's a binding contract, plain and simple. these sellers need to honor their word, suck it up and go source for the product to fulfil the orders, even if it means making a loss. buyers who ordered and paid a deposit are essentially offering these sellers 'interest-free loans' only for them to refund later. total bs.
I hear your italian is quite tight Roberto Burnsellucci
😂😂😂😂
Honestly I feel like this set is going to be printed like crown zenith, eventually everybody and their momz are going to be able to find it on the shelves and online for retail or below, especially when that the last sets come out for S&V , online wholesellers are making a big mistake marking this set up for so high -
FOMO and willingness to tank reputation over short term gains
Please put the fusion strike on the box properly I'm gonna lose it
EB games just released a statement saying the majority of preorders for ETBs wont be fullfilled until APRIL/MAY.
Wowzers!
Yep i just got the email that mine will be in the 2nd wave in may/june
silver lining: thank you eb games for holding my order for me. i get to use them as my storage unit when the set hopefully appreciates over the months!
id love to know if anyone ordered on the 9th, cause i swear i ordered the night it got released for pre order which was the 10th, same night as jb hifi
That's fine... if it delay.. at least gamestop didn't cancel on them like the lcs and still honor the low price
PokeSama just cancelled on me today. Order of 10 ETBs at 46.99 each. Insufficient stock was the reasoning.
That fusion strike box is gonna jump!
What does the term "PC" means, talking about this subject?
Pokemon Center
When he says PC etbs - Pokemon Center ETBs 🫡
POLITICALLY CORRECT PC PRINCIPAL!
pokemon world is crazy. great video Rob!
“Do not support sellers if you do not agree with what they are doing” can you tell us who canceled the orders so we know who not to support?
They have been revealed in the comments.
It hard to believe the sellers getting chraged more. Its just a way to scalp and it makes for bad sentiment in the hobby. The community should come together and not support these jokers who are canceling individuals pre orders. If they cant carry out their promise on locking in a future order they should not be putting up pre orders.
Well said as usual! Thanks
why a seller will leave money on the table when the cost of the item is now 3 times more? lol
2 weeks away . Can't wait 🎉🎉🎉
Great video. I also got canceled but is what it is.
This Is exactly what they did to evolving skies. That I was able to pre order some of the pc etbs is just go to help me with trades for other items.
thank goodness i ordered everything from big box stores and Pokemon center where they don’t cancel lol. and no lie these sellers aren’t lien my friends owns a card shop and he showed me his bill and i told him to cancel because distributors are charing insane prices he was getting poster collectings for $22 bucks when there 15 and binders for 45 and etbs for $65 each. no lie i dont blame stores for canceling there not going to make anything
I’m hoping the ones I have on their is happening after watching this , my shop I use are probs top 3 in the 3 and not Hurd notjjjg yet
Don’t they lose out on the visa transaction fees having to refund these items? I guess reselling it for higher covers the cost lolz
This is why buying from the pokemon center is king
No surprise, a lot of scalping, if you order +6 etbs and the pre sale price skyrocketing. Stores are gonna honor 1 or 2 but def stores are not gonna lose money over people that are selling their pre orders at 3x msrp 😢
Just to clarify, I dont justify stores doing that , but I understand , most of Them are honoring their price over 1 or 2, which shows good faith. Never pay those crazy pre sale pre sale price!
I like the mic Rob!
Thank you. It is a pain in the ass, dude. I have to clap to match sound, export the sound, clean it up in Adobe podcast, line up the waves in capcut, export again, and THEN start editing the actual video. Thank you for noticing.
@@Robdoespokemon Holly hell, 😭 that's ridiculously difficult. I hope you find an easier way 🙏
If you know who they are, please don't dox the stores. And check out Couyon's stream:

Dont forget your apple juice! 🍻🫡😈
Absolutely crazy!!
Card stores try to shank ya on the inital release. If they thnk they can shank ya bigger, they will. Bye Bye card stores.
And I assure you they did not take a "loss"
i dont like that these youtubers talk bout scum ppl yet dont call them out by name. yea rob just allow others to follow in your footsteps and get finessed
Paid $474 per ETB case from GameStop with pro membership and hope i get thrm on release day
365€ 👋🏼👋🏼
Another reason I stopped supporting local LGS they overcharge and what am I’m supposed to support local but having my bank account pay the price no thanks, I believe most LGS stores will be closed within 5 years
Day 1 until Daddy Rob opens evolving cries for the community
😂😂😂
Watched Pokerev open one the other day and pull $15 worth of cards
Top, what's your links? I'm trying to put together examples of stores doing the right thing to share to balance out the bad shit. Dm me on insta or email robertstephenburns@gmail.com
@@Robdoespokemon Just emailed you
I see you changing the card in that case!!! It’s a hidden message isn’t it?? You hid Pokemon treasure somewhere and your background has clues!!! I’m on to you Mr. Burns!!!!
Busted!
if businesses pre order then they take the chance on losing money if product comes in higher so sad to bad why should the customer get the brunt of the price change? would these businesses lower prices if they overpaid for a box? nope example--dave and adams didnt lower prices of topps chrome baseball when a promised feature was taken out of why one would buy the box they said 'its topps fault' but they had np taking pre orders selling at 650 a box market prices determined w/o that feature it was worth 250-300 customers had to eat the cost on the pre order so should businesses when it happens in reverse needless to say dave and adams reputation is a shitty one cuz of that and many other shady practices they engage in
i can read Italian it doesn't say that it says we are greedy pigs who aren't good enough to keep the agreed price and we want more money and overcharging u like a holes
My order was the case that was cancelled and shown in the video by Rob. It was from Forever Pokenerds. No reason or explanation just cancelled and refunded. I havent seen them relist yet but im sure they will. Dont buy from them.
Thanks for sharing Eric!
Scalpers paradise
Mine was cancelled too
I'm skipping this set and all the craziness altogether unless they print this set into the ground
Just be patient and wait til bundle drop in march
sold out everywhere. the poor children, and adult children.
The Problem is the people who are so crazy. I dont preorder this Sets
these stores got a interest free loan to buy allocations then cancelled on you
scammy business tactics
I want more rodeos.
Saddle up, Cowboy!
Top video Rob.

I just wish the investors would get out of the hobby.
Pokémon is for everyone.
Greedy people bro sad
for once, i'm glad to be in Denmark, where we have strong consumer-laws. gotten your order-confirmation? = store MUST fufull the order, no matter the cost
